THEY DIDN'T CREATE VARIANTS. It's EXTREMELY COMMON for items to have variations, whether it be big (Different colored), or small (Special part included).

Trexroarr--point is good and I agree that people need to realize its the way of the world. People create something and then others improve or take technology and do something else with it. I also like the point about yhe copy write. Does anybody really think Activision didnt know and plan for people to make games with similarities?

But I think it is obvious and valid to compare the two even if its just based on the fact that they both use figures and have a multi platform game. Many many articles are out there comparing the two.

Also--I understand you are frustrated but your point can get lost in the insulting delivery. There is no need to do that.

When you say the same thing over and over again nicely to people, and they straight up ignore you, this is what happens. I am extremely frustrated. It is simply human nature. Its not like people are politely comparing them like the articles which you mentioned. I have read plenty of those and they do it in such a way which makes neither of the games seem like "the bad guy". But people here are straight up flaming and insulting a game which they have never even played. What a great look for the forums, right?

Look, the only way I would consider Disney copying Skylanders is they have a set theme of figures exclusive to Toys R Us. Like, maybe 1 or 2 variants would be fine, but if they do a theme like Legendary and make it TRU exclusive, then Yeah, its copying. also if say, they do Legendary Figures exclusive to gamestop, that would be even worse.

Go blame Toys R Us corporate then. Not Skylanders or Disney Infinity. It is a ploy to make more money. These companies are in it to make money. Toys R Us has "Toys R Us exclusives" for anything and everything. There is a reason why the "Only at Toys R Us" sticker was invented.

Pinochio, Beast, Scrooge McDuck, Chip n Dale, heck even Dr. Doofensmirtz from Phineas and Ferb would be better. Nick Stickers isn't a Infinity figure, it's part of Cars' regular line of vehicles. And most of them are completely made up, or just made a 1 second appearance on screen in Cars or Cars 2. The Cars toys made over a BILLION (with a dollars for Disney- they're gonna milk that for all it's worth.

Anyways, as a few people have pointed out "variants" are nothing new. Every single toy line out there has at least some sort of variant, not to mention ones that are exclusive to stores.
Personally, the clear figures are pretty cool looking. I'd actually prefer ones like that compared to the Legendary coloration for Skylanders since on some characters it looks godawful. I'm looking at you, L-Slam Bam

I look at this post and I look at what the OP posted, I see no relevance of this post in regards to what the OP said. It really feels like you need to get off the soapbox and actually read what other people are posting instead of thinking they're posting blanket statements. Is Disney Infinity and Skylanders similar in what the OP posted? Sure, its mentioned that it's an exclusive variation of speedy. Yes its the same situation as L-figures in Skylanders.

You should read the title of the OP's post he clearly says "infinity always stealing skylanders ideas" and skylanders didn't invent variations and I think he is yelling more so at the people ranting on how DI copied skylanders variants, and calling DI stupid and terrible.

Excuse me? If you think Cars was in anyway cheap to make you are sorely mistaken. Cars took thousands even millions to make and it is wrong to insult Pixar's hard work this way.

Is anyone else bothered by the fact the variant is called crystal but the ingame model is solid white and the toy is so clouded you can barely see through it?

I hope they don't. I like how Activision create items that are shaped as the item and not some disc with a picture. I especially dislike the distribution of the disc, you are shooting in the dark as to what you are getting. Next thing you know you have 10 of the same disk and still missing a dozen. Talk about a money pit.

You need to stop.

Activision didn't invent the "Toys to Life" thing, SEVERAL other companies made small game systems, where you plugged figures to the top of them and they appeared on the screen. Pokemon did this YEARS ago.

Activision doesn't own the "Toys to Life" category of toys, any company can make them.

Activision only improved it.

For example, "I feel like Disney was wrong because they copied Skylanders. Can someone tell me how this kind of thing works?" I bet you would get lots of responses where people would understand your feelings and explain how this process of improving on technology in the gaming world works.

Hey, everyone! Look at Lloyd's new avatar!... REPORTED!

Fanboyism is insecurity. It is a belief that if others like other properties then the market will move away from their own choice, thereby reducing or eliminating it. It isn't so much that they believe their choice is better, but the thought that the other choice *might* actually be better - therefore they take every opportunity to tear it down or harp on things they think aren't great about it. Console fanboys are like this, they are all afraid if people don't prefer their console over the other then it will go the way of the Dreamcast.

Skylanders are going to be fine. There is room for both games, and they are actually very different. A great many people that will buy Infinity expecting another Skylanders only to discover a game that isn't their cup of tea - or maybe it will be. It's ok that some people will prefer Infinity. Maybe a little competition will cause Activision to push innovation more, because honestly right now their big innovation is "moar figures". Swap Force is a cool idea, but next year they are going to need more than new figures and a new storyline.

^ LOL! (Not.) Grow up, kid. I love Skylanders. I love Disney. You can like and enjoy more than one thing. Stop turning this into some kind of war.
