So this is what I have pre-ordered
Collector's Edition 360
Starter Pack 3DS (for the figs)
Starter Pack Wii (same as above)

Why do you need the Wii pack for the figures? Isn't the collector's edition coming with the same ones?

That's just it, we have no idea what the collector's edition comes with (the only descriptions we've gotten off retailers are identical to the normal pack in everything but price). A popular theory is that the Collector's Edition comes with Dark Variants.
I'm waiting to pre-order any of the starter packs until I know exactly what we get with the Collector's Edition (let's just call it CE).

Personally I think they dropped the ball on any sort of Collectors Edition. I already have my PS3 and 3DS pre-orders in and I really have no desire to jump through the hoops at the retail stores to try and change over to another edition. If the CE info had been out sooner then I might have done it. Random variants arent enough for me to worry about it. I'll need something far more exciting.

Some think it'll come with ALL five of the Dark variants. That makes it worth it to me.

The fact we wouldn't even know anything about a Collectors Edition if we weren't trolling retailer sites tells how far the ball was dropped...it would've been better to have offered this at pre order time. I'm hoping the preorder doesn't matter if it's CE or not, otherwise I'm betting they are hoping I'll just fork over another $65+ for it...LOL.

"Think" however is the keyword. I'd rather see some sort of confirmation. We should have gotten some indication on the CE a more or so back with places like Target and TRU were rolling out the special offers for pre-orders.

It is odd the lack of pre-orders though. Oh well, I don't like LC Hex anyway, so I might skip them entirely just to wait for the collector's edition (or do like I did for SSA, buy a month or so later for a discount, or SG, ordered off Sam's Club for a better price).

Well think guys. On Coolshop (where I am ordering CE) they have the console starter packs at like £54 an the CE at £70. So that's £16, enough to cover the other two figures. And since when have retail prices for variants been higher than normal versions?

Regarding that, it looks like Gamestop here in the States, just posted up what they are calling - Skylanders Swap Force GameStop Exclusive Dark Edition , with is basically $100. The release day posted though is listed as December 31st.

That release date is just a place holder... Most if not all retailers do that, it doesn't mean the game isn't going to come out until then... They just don't have an exact date when the Exclusive Dark Edition is going to come out.

Probably going to Pre-Order tomorrow or Thursday...
