Infinity takes characters that have a ton of figure counterparts, and.. they make more.
How many Woody, Jack Sparrow, and Sulley figures are out there? A LOT, I can tell you that right now.

Swap Force takes characters that have one, two, or three variations and improves them everytime. Compare S1 Spyro's detail to that of his S2 and Mega Ram versions. Does he have 15-20 different versions for each game?

And, gameplay wise, Infinity is almost 99% different than Swap Force. It's a Sandbox/Adventure game vs. an RPG.

S1 still looks better than mega ram IMO but its only because of the horns. S2 looks the best out of all the spyros so far

Well the Play Sets are for the most part in RPG-style, but you're right. People shouldn't be comparing these two games so negatively.

Second of all, I was never complaining about Skylanders. I love Skylanders. I am simply defending Infinity from people who have no idea what they're talking about. Both games are great. People are allowed to enjoy more than one game.

Although I am biased about Infinity I wouldn't buy it because I simply enjoy RPG type games rather than sandbox. I mean, sure characters have story lines in their worlds based on their franchises but I think the game focuses
more on making your own world than action adventure. I somewhat agree with Kappa (shocker!). I mean I don't think it will crash on day one because there are enough disney fans but those skylanders haters (not talking about anyone here I talking about those whose comments you can find on youtube videos, etc.) are going to see that for all their talk Infinity isn't going to destroy skylanders completely.

Exactly. Im 30 and wish both games the best. Ill take Skylanders over Infinity, but Infinity doing well forces Skylanders to get better because of competition. Infinity is a completely different type of game. People can like both just fine.

Doom, Disney Interactive co-published that along with SE. They didn't help in developing that game at all. Like I said, Tetsuya Nomura doesn't work for Disney Interactive.

I know (the main reason I play Kingdom Hearts), but technically, it is in part of a Disney Interactive game, even if they did little to nothing with it.

Both....And to those flipping out because Skylanders are in the video, it was a feature video about the figure creation process. Plus you'd be naive to think they didn't get/use some or any inspiration from Skylanders. I saw the video and I'm sure it wasn't simply missed in editing. They aren't worried about it and neither should anyone else.

To be honest D.I. is the best thing that could happen to Skylanders since it will force Activision really fight for our business by upping the game with each iteration. Truth be told their figures are so different from Skylanders I don't think they have a lot to worry about. D.I. knows what they're up against and now Activision has to worry about legit competition. Either way we win....The real victim will be our wallets.

lol first off Skylanders is never named, second of all most Dungeon Crawlers are linear (Skylanders, Diablo 1,2, and 3) so they are simply saying theirs is not. Plus let's be honest Skylanders is linear so I don't see the jab. There's nothing wrong linear but this is a sandbox game so it should differentiate itself from Linear games. This game is vastly different from Skylanders in almost every way and that's why I'm getting both. If one was simply a clone of the other it wouldn't be much fun.

Again these two franchises will now have to keep each other in check by competing for our $...either way we win. Let's just stick to the facts when it comes to what's been said. Both franchises have been rather civil when it comes to talking about the other.

I am not sure how it happened but while I was at Target today I was browsing the toy aisle and I found two Infinity figures laying on the shelf. They were both Tow-mater figures but they are a lot bigger and heavier than I thought they would be. Maybe it was just that one character? I am not sure. I still don't like the art direcection at all but perhaps the extra cost for the figures will be worth it to the Disney collectors?

About a week ago I asked my boyfriend to go to a local game store and pick the skylanders up I had ordered online. Later he told me that the seller wanted to persuade him to pre-order Infinity. I just laughed so hard, we've already bought 2 starter packs and a bunch of skylanders there, so I guess the guy thought we are willing to buy anything that is pricey and collectable.

However, I don't hate Infinity, I think it's pretty logical that Disney wanted to rip-off such an amazing business idea (aka making a ****load of money with a game which is less complicated than the average cash cow), as long as they don't start to boast about how innovative and creative they are, I cannot care less about that. Apart from that, as far as I know Infinity will have a very different gameplay from Skylanders, so I guess they should not be compared.

Personally I'm only planning to get Swap Force, as I don't find the Disney chars appealing at all. Only one that caught my eye is Jack Skellington, but I'm not 100% sure he's gonna be a playable charachter. I honestly hope that I won't have the opportuinity to buy him, I really do love The Nightmare Before Christmas and if I can get him, I don't think I can resist to buy the Infinity starter pack.

See for me it's an easy sell because of my 8 year old daughter. And yes Jack Skel. is a playable character...sorry. D.I. and Skylanders have toys with memory and they pretty much stop being similar at that point. I personally will still get both since I still love Skylanders and S.F. looks awesome....the new H.D. engine doesn't hurt.

Mmmmm doubt it since they already have and are producing villains. They don't need evil versions of the characters. Now I could see Transparent, Glow in the Dark, Sparkly, or Alternate pose but I doubt we'll see dark versions.

I'm getting both. My family is going to pool our spare cash to get Infinity, since we're all die hard Disney fans, but I'm going to have to pay for SSF on my own. (Dark edition FTW)

Infinity looks awesome, only problem is that it's another $75 for the game.

And Jack can only be played in one aspect of Infinity, for the same price as characters who can play in a player and toy box. They should at least sell those figures cheaper since they can't play in both aspects of the game.

Well I'm sure there are plans to release a Nightmare before Christmas playset at some point, given they are making Jack playable and given this year is the 20th Anniversary of the movie.

Thanks for all the info, a TNBF playset would totally force me to buy the starter pack, otherwise I would still consider buying only Jack for solely decorative purposes. Only other title that Disney can use to make me buy their stuff is Lion King, so my only hope left is that they won't release Infinity 2 with Simba next year.

I dislike Tim Burton's movies, but Halloween Town was an OK world in Kingdom Hearts, and the combat theme is quite catchy.

If I were to buy any Infinity stuff, it would just be Wreck-It Ralph, Fix-It Felix(if he is confirmed) and Vanellope(for my sister). I really don't care for the game, so it would just be for decorative purposes. Although, if someone in my extended family were to get the game, I would play it.

Another thing I am hating about Swap Force, is you have to buy blind packs to get all aspects of Toy Box complete (items). Ten discs are TRU exclusive, so plan on those being heavily scalped, plus you never know how many doubles, triples, or more you will get before you get all 10.

He clearly meant Infinity, he said Toy Box aspect. There is no Toy Box with Swap Force.

Not everyone "needs" to get one (or in some cases 16) of everything in order to enjoy a game. It seems many on here desperately want DI to fail.

As a parent, all I can say about kids is that they don't have to pay bills. They go to school, come home, do any chores (if any given parent gives them any), do some minor homework, and then they can proceed to play the game.

While I am buying Infinity, I can ONLY play the playsets, which will offer me 10 hours of gameplay each.

Again, I refuse to spend hours playing a mode that gets me nowhere in life. It doesn't help me completely level up anyone ala Skylanders. It allows me to make worlds for others to enjoy, while I get nothing for it. If I am going to waste hours of my life gaming, I am going to do something that fulfills some kind of achievement that doesn't benefit others.

In other words, maxing out every Skylander and doing all 9 quests is more of an achievement than building levels.

It's all in the eye of the beholder, sure, but I am not one to waste my life so others can enjooy the fruits of my labor, but those fruits didn't bring the bucks. That's where my career comes in. I am in the process of writing a trilogy of films. I am creating unique worlds, geography, lifestyles, etc, and it could leads to hundreds of millions of dollars and my work could be immortalized forever (like some of the films of yesteryear that kids today even know about). If I did the same thing in Infinity, I might be bestowed the honor *rolls eyes* of having Disney upload my world to a server where players across every platform can download and enjoy.

I am an adult. Other adults might not care what precious time they waste in this world, but we can't beat the clock. We have to live day by day, pay the bills, and are responsible for either teaching our kids that sitting in front of the TV more often than seeing the world is more important, or teaching them there is a life to be made outside of the house, and a planet ripe for exploring after they make a life for themselves.

Kids, on the other hand, can just come home without a worry in the world, and build on their Minecrafts, Little Big Planets, and Infinity all they want. Their parents take care of them.

I guess what I'm saying is, Infinity only offers this limitless potential with Toy Box mode, if you have hours of your life to waste. Creating a world, using tools millionaires gave us at the expense of our 75 bucks is less productive that creating something, starting a career out of it, and turning that into money in order to pay bills, see the world, put food on the table, and whatnot.

10, 10 hour Playsets, still doesn't offer what it would take to truly master Skylanders. Mastering in the sense of completing 45-50 Heroics for 99 Skylanders, completing 9 quests for 99 Skylanders, 3 starring both games, completing all 21 Battle Arenas, and collecting all 80 Skystones in Giants.

My only enjoyment from Infinity will be the 10 hour playsets. That's all my opinion, anyway. Kids and adults live two different lifestyles.

I also don't like the fact that they're sellign 14 dollar figures that do less than those that can play in playsets. One-trick ponies for the same price as figures that can be used in all aspects of the game? It just doesn't seem right.

The other thing that really bugs me with Disney Infinity is that there may not be a Frozen playset. I mean The Lone Ranger gets one in attempts to be prior to it's release yet Frozen, an upcoming film in November isn't getting one? What sense does that make?
