People do stuff like that all the time. They know what they paid for it and decide to sell it off at garage sale. They just don't research it. It's completely plausible

I'm telling you all like i said in the violet eybrawl thread, not everyone knows something is rare or worth something. I'm sure there are chase variants and even normal variant that ppl think are just normal figures.

Yeah, I saw a LOT of Red s at Walmart once, though nothing of it. Now, I know I should've bought it. Could've sold it for a lot money.

I call BS on your comment. It happens. It happened to me even, granted not in the same level as the original poster, but I got a hell of a deal at a garage sale too.

It does heck I got a loose darklight crypt set with ghost roaster, swarm, and red drill Sargent for 20 bucks off Craigslist just today

Back during SSA I got a for five bucks.

half of my collections are from yard sales , flea markets and craigslist people just want to get rid of them with out doing any research. I once found 23 skylanders figures in a "$1" box at a flea market and bought them all including ghost roaster. There plenty of deals out there you just have to spread out alittle. I even saw Skylanders in Walgreens the least expected places might have what youre looking for.

Yes I think everybody would be better off on the site if they weren't so jaded and skeptical. I'm all for being careful and not just believing EVERYTHING. But maybe think before you post something negative before you post. I also see a lot of "I know more than you do," or "I knew it before you, " type of stuff. You don't always have to correct minor things that others post--should misinformation be corrected--yes. But basic stuff--who cares. On the other hand--I see lots of gracious and kind and helpful posts. Lets post more of that.

Nah, man. Something like this is VERY plausible.
LOTS of people who own Skylanders toys have absolutely no idea that some of the figurines have significant secondary market value.
I would not say that finding a clear Series 1 Skylander at a yard sale is common ... because it is not common. But is it possible? Of course it is.

Outside of the collector fandom some of those 'rare' figures are worth less. If I were a normal kid, would I want a awesome 'normal' Hex with detail and paint, or some clear figure that looks unfinished?
There are stories about stores that sent clear figures back to Activision because they weren't painted or people who were upset with their gitd toys, because they only got them because there were no normal figures there.

More proof that garage sales are great sources for Skylanders items....$28 bought all of this. Again, no variants but still I am more than happy with what I got. [img][/img]

True to all what everyone said....well mostly everyone. Finding rares in a yard sale is possible. Altho i would like to see a good pic of your Crystal Clear Stealth Elf.

pics or it didnt happen... someone with a clear stealth elf wouldn't sell that low BECAUSE they'd know what it's worth, because normal ppl/parents dont see rare variants, & characters without paint look bad & theyd go for a normal looking one. & add your user name in the pic too, on a piece of paper. i'm not saying it's COMPLETELY impossible... just that thats low...

It can quite EASILY happen. Most parents have no clue. The KID might know, but parents like to blindly clear "clutter" sometimes, selling off things without checking. My own brother did it a couple of months ago, had bins with his sons' toys in them, the kids came around "Hey, I still want this! And this!", they tried to buy them from him, LOL! Even bringing out their piggy banks.

But yes, pics are VERY much called for, especially by now, especially on a thread entitled "LOOK what I found..."

And please post it as a picture, not a link. (just don't make the picture HUGE, I always aim for 800x600 as a nice size)
