I noticed that the Tower of Time adventure pack and the Fiery Forge battle pack are up for preorder on the Toys R Us website and other retail websites, but I don't know if I should wait to just pick them up upon the game's release or preorder them now. The reason I haven't preordered these already is because I don't know if their paint job will be in good quality, where as if I buy them upon release, I can make sure I will not regret making the investment. However, if I wait, then there is a chance that I miss the oppurtunity to get them. What do you guys do? Do you preorder the figures or do you wait until the game is released to pick them up?

Im the same way, so I never pre-order anything. and never regretted it yet.
Honestly I never had any trouble finding anything to do with skylanders so far. maybe its cause i start looking as soon as ones released.
and I collected all 99, but I find everything within 2-3 weeks of release.

I did buy a Camo, Warnado, and Wham-Shell online back when they were released, but only cause i thought i would never find them. 2 weeks later, I started finding all 3 everywhere.
and I caved and bought LC Hex off ebay, just so i can say im done with Giants. my OCD just cant stand Giants not being complete before SF is released.

Well-- Hazard335--I am impressed cause I have had many that we couldn't find. Now, one thing that we did wrong is I didn't know when they were coming out...so we would look once my son would find something online or a friend had it. But not being able to find things is frustrating. we can wait a few weeks. But what I try to avoid is buying regular skylanders on ebay at higher rates.

My feeling is preorder--because there will still be lots of others to "hunt" for. But whatever works for each person is what works.

Please see my guestbook for the remaining packs I need---Any help is appreciated. smilie

I never pre-order anything Skylanders related. Actually, I just flat out never even buy any Skylanders items that I haven't seen in person. The QC on these figures is so poor that buying online would be too much of a crap shoot, paint app-wise. And I've never had so much trouble finding a figure that I felt I should have ordered it before it came out. Of course, I'm not buying these things for any time sensitive purpose, like birthdays, holidays, etc, so I can afford to wait for when they inevitably mass release whichever figure after the initial trickle, so your mileage may vary, I guess.

this. as long as you keep your eyes peeled here, you'll be assured you're doing better than 75% of the other skylander buyers.

RIP GhostRoaster. He's reanimated as TakeYourLemons but occasionally is resurrected from the beyond when needed.

yea I never have trouble finding anything. I check these forms everyday. and hunting is not at all a problem for me.
15 minutes north from my house there is a Toys R US, Target, Walmart, and 2 GameStops. I drive by them everyday to work so checking for new stuff isn't a problem at all. Actually 3 times a week I'm going to Target/Walmart for groceries anyway.
Then 15 min south of my house I have another Target, Best Buy, Toys R Us (ironically its the one the murder took place at) and 2 GameStops. But I usually only head out that way on my days off, or if I'm out Skylander Hunting. which hasn't been for a while since I found S2 Drobot right when he came out at Walmart.
Never have seen a chase figure tho smilie

If I have the chance to pre-order some of the retailer exclusives, I'll do that - otherwise, I'll wait until release. The initial launch quantities should be sufficient for Day-One folks and I'll be able to take advantage of whatever deals come my way. Plus, when all the retailers announce their launch starter bundle deals, I'll still have the option to pick whichever one I want.

Personally for skylanders I would rather go to buy when they're released.. The main reason is hunting skylander when they're being released for me is a part of skylander enchantment itself.. Of course being able to choose the nice paint job and everything else is the part of the thrill as well.. But again thats just me.. Some people like the security of 100% by getting the product and safe themself time to go to the store .. So I think in the end is how you enjoy getting ur skylanders that matters...

Thank you guys for all of your responses. Knowing that others are feeling the same way makes it easier to make my decision. You all brought up very good points. Thanks!

The only thing I preordered ws the Scorpion Striker, and honestly, other than the starter pack, I don't want to preorder anything else for now. All the things releasing on release day are sure to be there the day after.

There is no reason to pre-order except for a retailer exclusive on (like the Golden Cannon last year) or the main game for a LC Hex. And even then it still isn't really necessary. All of the Day 1 stuff will likely be in abundant quantities, and if you pre-order now you lock yourself into full retail price (or the hassle of returning it later). Most stores have deals of some sort when the game is released, TRU for instance had B1G1 40% off on release week last year.

I'm getting it on release, not pre-ordering it.

I preordered them from walmart. I'll prob end up finding them in the store, but I figure I should cover my butt. I can always return them.

Guess I'm in the minority when it comes to pre-orders. I'd much rather pay a little bit more to guarantee I get the figures I want as opposed to driving all over the place to hope that I'm able to find those same figures. I'm also fairly impatient and I like having all the figures ASAP. *shrugs*

Except that pre-ordering is no guarantee that you'll get the figures either.
Just ask everyone who pre-ordered Gnarly Tree Rex from CD Universe. smilie

Very true but I wouldn't have used CD Universe as my first choice for ordering figures either. LOL. With TRU, Target or Walmart, I'm a lot more confident that I'll receive my pre-order eventually.
