Well I cancelled my cduniverse order. Felt it would've been a waste to get two since I'm not an in-box collector and it seems everyone is finding him. I cant wait until walmart tells me hes in. It will come either late this week or next week

I got mine from gamestop today, but online at TRU they are already selling them.

In case anyone is wondering, the paint on the singles for this figure is largely free of the common defects that were found on the Gnarly Tree Rexes that were included in the Wii bundle.

I don't believe there will be an "event" at all. It just seems like there's consistent info accumulated here that various TRU locations across the country have (for whatever reason) received a mandate to release Gnarly Tree Rex singles not until August 18th.

It's just really odd that TRU went through the trouble of street-dating a variant when three of the other "big box" Skylanders retailers are already selling them, more than week in advance of TRU's special date ....

because I want more info/opinions

I went through a couple of Gnarly Tree Rex figures from the Wii bundle when they first came out until I came across one with minimal paint defects. And notice I said, "minimal defects" and not "defect free", because I don't believe there were any that didn't have at least some kind of issue. All the defects could be found in the same problem areas, too.

The single pack, however, seems generally decent in regards to quality control. I've noticed a few with small issues here and there, paint-wise, but nothing as major as when they were bundle exclusives.

And for the record, I still have my bundle Tree Rex, so I was able to compare the two quite thoroughly, both on the portal and off.

I wonder how many blue wiis they actually sold.

You should, he's a variant and prob will be hard to find soon enough, thou prob not as hard as the rest cause you can find a few used ones from the wii package in.

Gnarley was also shown in their ad that began this past Sunday. So to show him and say "come and get him", then use "sorry we can;t sell him to you because he has a street date" could be looked at as a bait-and-switch tactic that the BBB would likely have a problem with.

I was unaware he was in last Sunday's ad. Yeah that is messed up to advertise it without mentioning a street date a couple weeks out. They need to put a correction out.

18th was the planed day. Target still hasn't gotten them as far as i can tell. I think walmart got them early and jumped the gun with them so TRU decided to follow suit. Also the fact gnarly was in their ad last sunday the 4th didn't help matters on this.

Target thou hasnt released him yet as I can tell, I think lesty said somewhere in Sept so I feel targets prob going to do some sort of sale that week on skylanders and have gnarly for the sale. 1. they prob by then maybe the only ones with him. 2. they have done this with scarlet and jade. 3. It may help clear out the rest of there stuff.

In other new. Disney I. is at my local tru as of friday. They were unpacking the figures into 2 shopping carts to hold them till rlease day. I got to see a few of them they looked kind of cool. So stores have them already just waiting till the 18th.

Yep! I avoided the hunting altogether thanks to Gamestop...easy peasy.

Saw two of these at Walmart the other day...passed though. I don't like Tree Rex enough to buy a variant of him.

I bought a blue wii just for gnarley,But Only paid $100 on sale then I traded it in for $50 kept the blue wiimote and nunchuck $60 value, plus rex and the game. so $50 for all that was a great deal.

This is the most I've seen of a Giants variant and the longest I've seen him hanging around. Either everyone got him before the single was released or the company actually made a lot more of him!

I technically NEVER saw her on the shelf except for the two stores where I got them minutes after the store opened on the day of release.

No Scarlets or Gnarley since release date near us.
