CrystalFissure on YouTube found out a lot of things from Spyro 2. And I think AH014? Found out a lot about the demo of Spyro 2. It's interesting stuff.

That flying cow thing in Enter The Dragonfly makes more sense now.
Thanks for sharing!

It's still a weird idea from the developers if you ask me, even too whacky for a Dream Weaver's level.

I actually knew most of this from researching the demos.

It's a good article, and a lot of stuff in it I didn't know about until I read it. But, I think the person who wrote that forgot to include this big secret in Dino Mines, AKA the weird unused sub-area.

Just think, if there's all this hidden stuff in these Spyro games, think about all the other games you play that may have hidden things too.

Too. Much. Information... Not even 1/2 way through: opinion is: "Woopty doo... You found extra sounds and music and a creepy letter from the designers."... I'll eventually finish it though.

Is it just me? Or do you appear to be a little jealous?
I think it's really great that there is more to these games that we know little of, and that people have only just found out after, what? Fifteen years? Of Spyro.

Yeah, most of the old videogames have some creepy and/or weird hidden stuff....

Well I only know of Spyro now.
I do know of something weird in Doom II as well.

The creepy letter isn't too creepy if you know that the original Spyro team at Insomniac referred to screwing up at any time as "getting the Shemp" (named after the fourth Stooge from "The Three Stooges").

Very interesting read!

I thought this might be relevant and maybe of interest to some.

I have a European Spyro 1 press kit. Inside, there's the full game and a "Press CD" full of PDFs which contains marketing info, dev bios, game features, uncompressed hi-res images, etc.

Anyway, there's a couple of neat things I ran into that I wasn't aware of until recently. Namely, this part in the "features" PDF:

Spryo Power-ups
Power-ups take the form of secondary characters or “friends” who endow Spyro with special abilities. The first time that Spyro encounters each friend, a cinematic sequence will be played where the friend explains the “gift”. Each power-up will time out after a certain period. Power ups include:

super flame (given by a flame salamander)
Invincibility (given by an armadillo)
Super jump (given by a frog)
Time slow (given by an elf)
Fireball (given by a small wizard)

The only friends I can really remember are the faries.

Shhhhh, shh, shh... No... Be quiet... That's a secret... Anyway, yes it is interesting someone found hidden audio files within the game's coding, but too be honest the way some of you make it out as a big deal. So you found out it had extra stuff that wasn't in the game(unless it was some Easter egg), not like it'll change history(not trying to put anyone down, just the way I see it) or anything really.

The whole level names and prototype stuff is always cool though, finding the alternating things about a level other than its sounds.

Old news.

Well, I only just heard about it. Probably because I haven't been here for like three months straight.
