Well, if it hadn't been for Spyro's existence, the Skylanders wouldn't be here today. So it's a way of thanking him for inspiring Activision for creating this awesome video game series. That's also why he is returning as a S3 figure as well.

Wrong! Well at least I think. I saw in an interview that they were debating on using Crash Bandicoot or Spyro for the game. Though some other sources say that Activision was told to make a new Spyro game.

Activision were going to make a mature Spyro game with blood before they went with the idea of Skylanders. <.<

I count it as a spiritual successor to the Insomniac games at the least. It takes more inspiration from those titles than most people seem to notice (or want to admit). Just compare the environment designs with those in the original three games and you'll see what I mean. Skylanders couldn't have been what it is at all without the Spyro games before it. It's like BioShock being the new System Shock 2.

I'd rather see Skylanders then a Spyro game with... blood o.o but still toys for bob need to give Spyro more love... and then we havent talked about Crash >.>

Possibly correct, yes. TFB were working on the tech separate from Spyro's Kingdom, it was decided that they implemented this into Spyro's Kingdom (which later became Skylanders) so, if Activision had never given the Spyro franchise to TFB to develop a game then we wouldn't have got Skylanders - but we would have gotten a game that used the "toys to life" feature.

I only had the legend of spyro a new beginning I thought it was fun but I like skylanders more

In all seriousness, Skylanders shows a lot of Spyro influence that I often feel people miss. Easily more so than Legend of Spyro, which is just a different series staring Spyro. ...Then again, at least it actually stars him.

Skylanders was originally supposed to be a main spyro entry, as officially said by activision. Once giants released however, this was quickly retconned and skylanders is no longer anything at all to do with spyro. Spyro, Cynder and Sparx simply are considered Cameo Characters now.

Hopefully this means Activision will one day return to the main spyro series. Granted, not the original or legend, but probably something different. I would die and go to heaven in joy if the original series was revived, but i dont think that is going to happen. Thankfully though, now that Skylanders is basically officially not part of Spyro, we have some hope of a new "Spyro" labeled game in the future. If Activision is smart, they will do it. They can sell Spyro and Skylanders back to back without problems and get a ton more money that way, but they wont for whatever reason. It would be a smart business move though.

Something like the above happening would be great. Though I personally would like to see the Skylanders still in that Spyro game. Not as playable characters mind you, but as NPCs for story or side quest, or even post-game content. Of course this means it wouldn't be the original or legend series, but many of you have seem to think they'd move onto a new Spyro IP anyway. A new Spyro IP would be great for my first real Spyro game too! (Not counting Skylanders, or the original game [I never actually played it, I think I messed around in the hub world of my cousin's copy], or Season of Ice [not the best experience, besides, I lost that game cartridge years ago.]).

Anyway. The issue is that a new Spyro game wouldn't be profitable at all, or if it was it wouldn't be worth it. They would end up spending more money on the game than they would make from it, because not all kids who play Skylanders are interested in Spyro and there aren't enough people in the world who would buy a Spyro game to make the cost of the investment/employee wages worth it for Activision.

...Have you had a quick look at Activision's releases over the past few years? They don't care about anything unless it has a recognisable character or is already a successful brand. Activision are literally about making a quick buck from a franchise that will defiantly sell well - movie licences, over prices Angry Birds on console, CoD, Skylanders and it's toys etc.

They wouldn't publish a new Spyro game because a new Spyro game would be time and effort from one of their developers and money to a project that (although might make profit in the end) won't nearly be as much as they could make by putting the same time and effort into a different game.

They can make it as a cash in.
While i can give a rat less about Skylanders spyro, if they used his design, used the other skylanders as NPC`s and made it fully third person, brought back portals, etc, the game would be popular.

I think it could be nice if Activision used ALL THAT MONEY they got with Skylanders and use it so at least One of the Old Spyro series (Legand or Classic) can come back and can co-exist with Skylanders

I believe it's a Spyro game because it was originally going to be called Spyro's kingdom which what Aura said before was to contain blood and stuff like that.

If activion is too lazy to make a new spyro game they could at least re-relase the original trilogy with hd graphics for the ps4

Insomniac never owned the rights to Spyro, Universal Interactive did, who later formed with Sierra Entertainment who then merged with Activision.

Insomniac was just the game developer.

meaning to classify a game which spyro is in as a spyro game is up to you
you may only classify the games by Insomniac as spyro games
you may like me classify all classic/legend/and skylanders as spyro games
it your opinion don't be pressure into changing it
