Does anyone know if we can buy the $1 target cards, not pick up from target, and still get the bonus information.

Umm... I HIGHLY doubt it. Probably one of those "no value until scanned at register" things.

I did the traget pre order, and on the back of the card it says that a copy of the game wil be held at the electronics desk for one week. The card itself has the unlockable upgrade chip in it, you can see the outline in the card when you pick it up, so i am confidant in saying you buy the card for a buck, get the upgrade, but dont need to actualy get the game at target to use the card

Yes, you can. The bonus is a chip inside the pre-order card itself. Though I don't advise it, you could steal the card and still get the special upgrade.

Is that a joke? Why steal it? The card is a dollar! If you can't afford a buck, then what are you doing collecting Skylanders in the first place? Plus, stealing things is ILLEGAL.

Just play devils advocate here for a moment.....If the card has "no value until activated at the register" and the $1 that you pay to "activate" the card doesn't go towards the amount of the purchase price of Swap-Force, it makes me wonder. Would taking the card without putting the $1 down on it technically be stealing? I not trying to start a flame war but I just like to consider things at different points of view. Would I just grab the card and head out the door? No way. I doubt what ever is unlocked in game with the card will be worth a dollar but I picked up a few (paid for them) so that I could get the $30 off Giants. As far as being obligated to pick up the game once you pay for the reservation card, you don't have to worry about that. I am not buying my copies at Target.

I did say I don't advise stealing it as yes there is no real point, however my point was that no activation was needed at the register for it to work.

I don't think my Target has received these yet...here's hoping they get some in soon!

It could work like a gift card and wont even work unless you had it activated at the register. If anything you may cause a back up in the line and cheese off a bunch of people. Just spend the buck. Lol

The actual pre-ordering of the game may require a little activation at the register, HOWEVER the chip in the card that gives the upgrade does not.

It isn't a magical item itself like you would think of the Hidden Treasure or Ghost Swords. It is described as an in-game character upgrade. The scanning of the bar-code on back of the card itself has nothing to do with the activation of the RFID chip inside.

Someone used it at the GameStop Expo.

I reported it in the "Gamestop Expo" post. The card just unlocked a hat to be used in the game. I used a Wii U card on the PS4 version and it popped right up. Looks like you don't need a specific card for a specific console.

Anyone know what stats it has?
If it's like +50 in everything, it'd be worth $1 :P

I hope you can get the hat outside of this chip as well.

No, I had to use the card real fast while one of the Activision reps turned their back. It was only +9 one of the stats if I remember right.

The card is also being given at GAME, it comes with the preorder, but I am not sure if you can buy it in store and get it before release.

Yes it gives you the UFO Hat and has way high status for its wearer.

The U.F.O. hat is B.A....glad I got one at Target yesterday...totally worth a buck.

Well, hats are very important in Swap Force since Elemental Bonuses for character registration and Health Bonuses for Quest completion and whatever Legendary Treasures you use in Woodburrows are the only methods you can use to change character stats.

Basically Legendary Treasure use and Hats are the only way you can modify Critical Hit, Speed and Armor.

If I misunderstand the system let me know, as I'm still reading the guide.
