Why would Activision care?
I mean, unless Nintendo have given Activision bags of money for the privilege.

That could happen and I'd like it because I own the WiiU

But based on the way the topic is phrased, you'd have to buy another Wii U in order to get the system-specific bundled figure. Are you sure you're behind it?

I personally think that the system-exclusivity of certain figures needs to stop. Unless it's some sort of chase variant, all figures need to be available to everybody (via singles, etc.) no matter which system you choose to purchase the game for. Prior to the release of Gnarly Tree Rex, we "only" had to worry about purchasing two different starter sets in order to snag all of the exclusive figures. Starting with Gnarly, though, we're expected to shell out for an entirely new game system in order to (essentially) net a single figure.

To me that's ridiculous, anti-consumer and smacks of back room deals and lots of money exchanged.

I know this is pushing the example a bit ridculously far, but if Skylanders gets popular enough, how long before they start bundling exclusive (non-chase) variants with more and more exepsive items? Who wants to buy a certain TV or a particular model of car just to complete their collection? Not likely to happen, and I'm taking the current trend to a ridiculous upper limit, but if given enough time and popularity...

smilie^ no no, you've got it all wrong.
you buy a HOUSE and you get the 9th exclusive element with exclusive colors that are all actually chase variants of their original landers.

but i all seriousness, why are they doin this? they could make gnarly a multi-colored variant, not an exclusive character.
but i bet this time the wii U exclusive would be something that isnt released anywhere else, even as a variant.
