Skylanders is awesome but Pokemon will never leave my heart.
Agreed, I think Pokemon was my first real addiction to games/toys way back when blue and red came out.
They both have OCD/completionist type gameplay mechanics. I've never been a fan of handheld gaming devices so I'm obvious biased towards skylanders here.

RIP GhostRoaster. He's reanimated as TakeYourLemons but occasionally is resurrected from the beyond when needed.
Pokemon when there was only 151 pokemon now theres to much pokemon with weird names, now i like skylanders, they have cool name and very unique looking.
EDIT: I also find battles in Pokemon boring. It's pretty much rock paper scissors where I use paper and everybody else just uses scissors... I wish Pokemon battles were more like Skylanders.
both: cuz- pokemon has a battle style i like but the turn thing is somewhat annoing, in skylanders these turns are not present
pokemon has soom cool creatures(ninjask ,gogoat and chespin as example) but skylanders has weapons and more personalety
the pokemon can learn TOO many moves and i sometimes looste my control, in skylanders the moves are more ordened. and lest but not least the story in pokemon isn't logick anymore but sometimes fun, skylanders has a story not reely complecating
but what skylanders reely misses : IT NEEDS A TV ANIME SIRIES ! NOW!
Pokemon is better but if they adopted the skylanders/disney model i would go broke...
search pokemon rumble wii u.....................
The figures for that are not required to play. They just allow you to bring your Pokémon from Rumble U (which the figures can improve) so you can use them at a friends house. They are in no way required to play.
Skylanders only because its multiplatform. I really liked Pokemon for the original 151 but the game grew stale for me after.
They would also have to release it for PC for me to consider it which I doubt they would do anytime in the near future. I do like the battle system for Pokemon better because the higher level of customization.
At the moment Pokemon is a lot cheaper though lol. Hell I could buy over 20 copies of X and Y for the amount I spent on skylanders. The main thing that turned me off of Pokemon was not being able to carry my characters over from the originals. I would have bought special equipment in order to do so if they would have allowed it. It would have been awesome to have my Charizard from the original Pokemon Red able to be transferred onto X & Y.
If they come out with a Skylanders that isn't backwards compatible with my old figures then that will be when I stop buying them.
