Swap Force Demo at Gamestop [CLOSED]

First things first I have no video of myself playing at the store where I live in Texas, but here were some things I found out.

At the demo they actually let us hold and play around with the figures and swap them ourselves. They only had Wash Buckler, Blast Zone, and Ninja Stealth Elf, with a couple of the old figures to see what they did. The swap force characters were pretty easy to handle the magnets were cool, not too strong, but not too weak so it didn't feel unstable. Swapping was easy to do and the game play graphics were great.

Jumping was an interesting aspect to the game, really makes the game feel more real. I asked the guy from Activision about the jumping and the bounce pads, and he said that they were changing the game from being tiered to a more linear movement so that the bounce pads wouldn't be necessary and the jumping would make a difference. Now there were flying enemies in the level I played and the jumping helped take those out, also the range characters could hit the different height levels.

I even played with Tree Rex in the new game and his moves are completely redone for better looks. The high definition on the moves was amazing and the environment was absolutely beautiful, not cartoony like before. I asked the guy there about Giants as I was playing with Tree Rex and he did confirm that there wouldn't be Giant zones or any "feats of strength" and their focus is the swap force characters.

Afterwards I got to try the climbing zone with Blast Buckler, it was an interesting sub stage that added a cool challenge to the game, younger players seemed to struggle a little bit but they could easily power through it without failing. Myself I felt like it added some difficulty to the usually simple portions of the game. Now the best part was that after you finished the stage, the prize wasn't a hat or anything like that it was actually an additional level that added on to the game similar to the Adventure pack levels. I didn't get a chance to ask more about the levels, because I had a bunch of impatient moms behind me waiting to get their kids a chance to play even though it was like their 2nd or 3rd play through, but I didn't want to inconvenience them. My assumption is that the game will be longer than we though because of the 2 extra adventures packs plus all of the extra levels those swap zones will add to the game.

Right, but there's only 12 levels...and I hear Heroics are being replaced with these side missions. Would've been great if you can get an answer on that.

I'm pretty sure they're only going to let you see what they WANT you to see...demo is pretty well contained I think. I was hoping someone would come up with more info, but they are probably using the same demo disk they used at E3.

I played the demo here in NY, so here's my version:

1. It was only the demo/prototype for the 360

2. Start only brought up a Pause menu, and select didn't work

3. Only had Wash Buckler, Blast Zone, Magna Charge, Countdown, Ninja Stealth Elf, and S2 Eruptor( which didn't work) to play as. And somebody broke Countdown's fig...:/

4. No "Climb" section, but "Rocket" was playable

For what it was, I'm still gonna support Skylanders. I doubted, and came to find out that this series is more than meets th' eye. And it looks like they're getting better at it! I dunno if VV/TFB are gonna give Disney INfinity a run for it's money, but it's like Nintendo is, as a whole; quality over quantity. And for that, I salute them!

And finally seeing the graphics of Swap Force up close.... My Eon... Just beautiful. Glad I came to the event a bit late, so I can truly enjoy them~

So I'm going to presume that there was a Tech/Air Dual Elemental door and the level was Iron Jaw Gulch as you said there was no Climb Swap Force Zone, but instead a Rocket. Right?

In other words, was it the desert town like level we had seen at the reveal?

Thanks for the info. I personally like quality over quantity, but there's a threshold. Would 8 chapters be enough? How about 5?

No, but I highly doubt they'd are gonna screw us over like that.

We're even getting adventure packs back, with brand-new levels and new magic items, to add to the previous packs and items, which will all work in SF. So, we're pretty much getting all kinda bangs for our bucks and previous collections.

Really? They are screwing us over now 4 chapters...(10 if SSA) where does the screwing start then?

If they are choosing to end of life SSA adventure packs (location/magic items), you might have some price conscious skyfans rethink buying them. If they are continuing the trend in SSA there were absolutely terrible investments in terms of content versus value received. I remember many complaining that they just wanted the single of their skylander.

Not trying to rain on the parade...I simply want to know how much less are you willing to receive before there's a problem? Clearly, they've crossed my line in the sand for me smilie

Clearly, we don't know the full scope of the game and what it will include...maybe the best thing to do is to wait and see. It's not like Activision is reading this and I'll get a response lol.

Yeah, I'm pretty stoked

How about all of you guys that just want to complain go to an event full of snotty kids pushing their way to the line, with only 1 minute of a demo, and parents breathing down your neck to try to get their kid a turn and you try to keep asking a ton of questions. There wasn't much time to really keep asking questions or do anything other than the information I was able to get at the time. Well I appreciate all of the negativity, next time I have access to this type of opportunity I just won't bother to post anything, and all of you annoying lazy jerks can go find out information on your own.
