I recall a comment from back in the first game where they talked bout the designs coming first and then it was some other guy's job to figure out what element something was and that sometimes it was a stretch and the only reason was "because":
"because we need a life guy"
"because he doesn't fit anywhere else"
"because we have too many tech already"
etc
Yeah, well why won't I buy Swap Force?
...because.
IMO, they should fit the character appropriately. Either ditch the "we need exactly x of each element" or start out with -- we need a tech element and design from there.
BTW, my son, just by HEARING the name of this guy...thought it was tech. Earth would've been better second choice than life. Heck, if the drill gets hot it would've even been better on fire. It's like they screwed up two times here. Actually, he looks more like an old MINER to me than a Gorilla. It at least would make sense with the drill bit. So make that three times. Unless the character can crap seeds on the ground, causing plants to spring to LIFE and attack via Plants vs Zombies style I dont see it. A drill is the antithesis of life---it's an industrial tool created by man. Anyone remember the Lorax?
