No, Legendary Spyro and Dark Spyro are separate characters. Like how Legendary Bash isn't Bash, Legendary Chop Chop isn't Chop Chop, and so on.

There seems to be a big misunderstanding going on here. I don't think he's saying they're the same character exactly. Just that Legendary Spyro is a variant of Dark Spyro not one of regular Spyro. Which kinda makes sense given the evidence provided. Though there is no way to definatively prove this.

Ye in all the games even the iOS games dark spyro and legendary share the same art and normal has his own art. Maybe your right legendary spyro is the variant of dark spyro....

It's artwork.... Has nothing to do with who's a variant of who.

If you go by the 3DS version, both Spyro and L-Spyro have the same upgrades, Dark Spyro does not.

Except Dark Spyro is a completely different character with a completely different backstory, while Spyro and Legendary Spyro share the same backstory or L-Spyro uses the Legendary Skylanders backstory.

Sorry but if L-Spyro was the legendary version of Dark Spyro then he would have lightning attacks and the tail whip attack in the 3DS versions of the games. He breaths fire and has a charge attack like regular Spyro though.

They may had put L-spyro like regular spyro so 3ds users coud play with different gameplay (dont need to buy the console version spyro)

The flame is like spyro maybe because is gold and the balls look more likely to him.

They never give the variants and legendary backstory (besides dark spyro) so idk if they share the same story.

L-Spyro has +20crit compared to spyro, i pretty typical legendary upgrade.
Dark Spyro has COMPLETELY DIFFERENT in game stats, so obviously is a seperate character.

Just because Activision were lazy with art redesigns doesn't mean 2 very different (stat wise at least) figures are variants of each other

Well the legendary skylanders backstory is the same on the wiki but is there any official source of legendary spyro story been the same ?

I am not saying dark spyro and legendary spyro are the same just saying is more likely that the real name is legendary dark spyro do the promo art, as we saw in other legendary they share the same art of the original version.

But he was also the first recolor version of any skylander coud also be coincidence.

You really can't base anything off the art. Sure it's the same pose. It doesn't mean anything. And if it were legendary dark spyro, they would have said it. Also don't trust wiki or wikia, the information can be changed by anyone. And the stories above pretty much prove your theory false.

Well in the ios game the "spyro's # 1 fan" only works for spyro and legendary spyro, he does not work with dark spyro at all.

Okay, from all this discussion, it seems like Legendary Spyro is a cross between Spyro and Dark Spyro. There's no denying that he shares several elements with Dark, but he also shares some elements with regular Spyro.

I definitely find it intriguing that he shares some elements, especially the art, with Dark Spyro, who feels cooler than Spyro.

Smaller font. If acti had decided to do legendary dark spyro, would they have said it. Different art doesn't mean it's the same. They could have changed the art because dark spyro and legendary spyro might not have looked right in the same picture as spyro. It just doesn't mean anything. All you are basing this on is the art. The stats are higher, but that's how it's suppose to be. Spyro is dark spyro and legendary spyro, there is no difference. Legendary spyro is the legendary form of spyro and dark spyro is the dark form of spyro

We all agree that the Legendary Spyro is an Immortalized Spyro. Who's to say that Dark Spyro couldn't be both? Some may say that the Legendary Spyro can definitely turn in to Dark Spyro since it takes greatness to become immortalized as magical, which can help in controlling the dark magic. After all, If this is true why couldn't Spyro and Legendary Spyro challange his energy and become Dark Spyro.

• Spyro in his normal state
  
• Spyro under the influence of "Dark Magic"
  
• and a living statue of spyro.
  

Is the statue a representation of spyro when he is under the influence of dark magic? Eh, sure why not...
