Ok I've got a way that makes Leveling up and upgrading easy. First I'll list the requirements for each one.

Leveling up: 3DS version of Skylanders Giants.

Upgrades: An second controler for you Console.

Leveling up: I find it that the fastest way to level up is in the 3DS version. Now while normally, I go through a couple of the begining levels. First 3 but after that I head to the final boss fight with Fright Beard. If he's not hard/easy for you then this works great. Before you start the boss battle make sure you have atleast one if not both of the types that get bonuses that day. (Seen by the flags by flynn). A good fighter or a skylander allready highest level will you'd best have. Also, choose the timed challenge. Now in the fight use the skylander you want to level up to face the boss' minions. Then once Frightbread shows up switch to your high lever/good fighter and start attacking. Once he leaves and the menions return go back to your other skylander. Repeat until firghtbread is taken out. Neat trick: one once you see those colored expience dots switch to the skylander that you want to level up. Even if he didn't deal the final blow he'll still get the experience. (you have to switch before the dots disappear.) So if you did it right you'll get a good chunk of EXP from fright bread. Then additional EXP from any remaining time from the time limit. An additional amount if you have a matching element from the daily bonus. And any remaining coins you picked up during the battle. With this way your guarunteed atleast 1 to 2 levels per time you beat him (Especially once you get past 10. Lower levels may get you more level increases per challenge.)

Upgrades: This one is simple. Just do a PvP match but don't have someone play as your opponent. From what I've seen the amount of prize gold is tied into how long the battle takes (It's possible there are other factors but this is one of them). The shorter the battle the less amount of Gold you'll get. Max amount is 900 some. Normally, as long as you avoid knocking out your opponent fast (Like Trigger happy's grattle gun or Terraphins non stop attack combo) you'll get like 500 to 700. A good way is to do simple basic attack combos or attacks that aren't very fast in lag between strikes. If done right you should finish a non Series 2 Skylander upgraded in 10 matches (if you have all discounts). Could even need 15.

Also use that with the following: There are two places on Flynn's ship that can give you alot of gems. They will increase in the ammount based on how long you wait to get them. Meaning, it'll replenish itself over time after each time you take them. 1 place is the element vault where the store is at. To get to the other place go into that cicular room. Head up that ramp and take the door. There in that area (with the crane thing) is where you'll find this group of replenishing gems.

ALso you could do PvP matches first then the 3DS FirghtBread fights. It'll get you one step closer to maxing out the level atleast.

for gems I just run to the crane, collect all the gems, exit to home screen(so it doesnt save the game), load game, repeat 2-3 times and you have enough for full upgrade

exp just run chapter 15 2-3 runs of that will max your character (with xp wheels and xp accolades)

For low-level figure level ups, if you just want to get a figure started out and have at least gotten to chapter 16... Have as many Luck-O-Tron wheels of experience as you have collected turned on and make sure the Skylander you use has at least some speed bonus hat. Select chapter 16 and get the gate opened like you would normally.
Once you've opened it, set another bomb out to roll down the hill and get the bomb down toward the chompies at an angle to where it would not hit the wall that you can destroy. Once the Arkeyan guy drops down, make use of the bomb for a one-hit kill. Should be an instant level up for a new figure off his experience. You can simply re-select that chapter and do it again until about level 5 where it starts to slow down. By then, you can somewhat play through the late chapters easier to just gain exp. without the feeling of "grinding."

As far as upgrades and treasure collecting.... the further you progress in your levels, the better the treasure quantity you'll find. Making use of wheels of wealth helps as you find them. Later on, after you beat the game, you can use the trick mentioned above as shown in this video for the best results:

A much faster way to do this trick (without needing to restart the entire game), and a way for non-XBox360 users to do this same gem cheat (I use PS3) is to collect those gems from that room, then go to Callie and enter an Heroic Challenge. Once the HC begins, hit the menu button, and select "Flynn's Ship" to return to the ship immediately. The gems will have replenished themselves, and you can collect them again!! smilie

I'll try that tonight. I've been doing it the long way to my variants to get them "up to speed" with their abilities.

This will save so much time.

Thanks.

It's not the full amount though is it? I mean, once the game is over, it always replenishes but it's never as much as it was the first time.

I find this amusing...I personally find enjoyment growing with the skylander's ability by doing Heroics, Battle, gameplay etc. and this just cheats you out the experience...but then again---if you're doing this with all 90+ skylanders it can get meticulous.

RIP GhostRoaster. He's reanimated as TakeYourLemons but occasionally is resurrected from the beyond when needed.

It's great for people who have quite a few figures in their collection. Who is to say someone doesn't find enjoyment out of having quick access to the skills for their Skylander? For all we know, a person could reset the character afterwards. I know the grinding for things in games has gotten to me over time, so easy access like this help very much, especially when you have other games you jump to and from besides outside life impacting things. There's multiple other reasons this can be handy for someone, but it's not as if a person doesn't do a lot of the other things the game has to offer too.

If you do this you will lose the big amount you get for beatings last level. You will only get the 350 or so it normally gives
