Will affect Skylander stock? As in having less?

Not sure. I'm sure they are going into manufacturing with a certain set of numbers. I'm sure they are accounting for a certain percentage of "attrition" but since us customers are in the dark who really knows? We'll know soon enough I guess. Seeing Universe being stripped definitely makes one think.

Anyone else wonder if the displays will be next to each other in stores?

Once you put your money into a franchise like skylanders your probably going to stay with it. Unless your the 1% in which case money is irrelevant. *Barely manages to delete a rant on Socialism is awesome and why conservatism is for pillocks.*

I can not foresee a solid reason why the stock of Skylanders would be affected by the advent of competition.
If anything, I would predict an increase in Skylanders stock, for several reasons.

I agree with Bahamut, I think they will increase the stock and for Swap Force we won't see many hard to find figures. I've talked to many people who get frustrated trying to find rare figures and they've said it negatively impacts their experience with Skylanders. I think if that's a common feeling, Activision will surely try to curb that so people don't start to look else where.
Also, I agree that a lot of people who already have Skylanders would much rather continue on in the series than change over to another NFC based game, especially considering Disney Infinity is looking to be even more expensive than Skylanders. I personally plan to go with Swap Force because I'm not a fan of the Disney characters they are offering. I'm sort of hoping it fairs well though and they do a sequel with characters from better films like Finding Nemo, Lion King, Toy Story and the older Disney films.

given that the pre-order display for Disney Infinity is next to the skylanders display in my local toys r us, i would say there is a good chance that they will be

Disney is allowing some retailers to take pre orders on the Disney Infinity Series, individual figures, and sets. That is something Activision has been hard pressed to allow with the Skylanders.

I wish retailers would allow us or Activision would allow us to reserve a whole complete set of the next Skylanders figures. I'm so tired of the freaking hunt and scalpers.

My kids aren't interested in Disney Infinity but they are looking forward to Swap Force. It will be interesting to see if DI is able to garner the same excitement or shortage of figures that Skylanders experienced.

maybe disney will pay more in salary... then there will surely be a problem, coz we know acti is greedy and if they have to pay more the skylanders toys will rise in price. but we see acti have overworked their chinese painters for less pay for a long time now(results bad painted skylanders).. if disney pay more it also can be that these chinese painters just move on from acti to disney and that can mean less skylanders..

Anyone that knows anything knows that disney can put there name on anything and people will buy it so depending on feedback from gamers will dictate how both franchises will be stocked

I personally like the thrill of the chase, but I think they should enforce some availability clause for store variants...they have been good about keeping the figures in stock with few minor exceptions (store variants being the exception--too constrained in supply).

the hunt is the fun part. I actually hate when it stops as i have no reason to go to a target or walmart
