Wow! This sucker was SO hard to track down. I'm truly grateful that I was able to purchase it! You can ask how much I paid for it... but I'm not gonna tell you!

I realize that many of you dislike the look of these E3's, but for the diehard collector, these E3's are the "holy grail" of packaged Skylander collecting!!!

Let me first say, I understand these figures are NOT for everyone! As was stated originally, these IMO, appeal to the die hard collectors. The significance of these are their extreme rarity while still in their original promotional packaging.

To answer your question, however, YES... the figure itself is the same as a normal factory released SSA Spyro. It does have a different factory stamp on the bottom of the green base however...

I don't dislike the look of the E3s at all. In fact, it objectively has no bearing on their value OR collector status. These really are the proverbial Holy Grail, and adding this on top of the Trigger Happy you already had puts yours as the preeminent collection on Dark Spyro. Good work, and I mean that sincerely.

No they are not held in place. They rest on top of a circular plastic blister and tend to float around in the package. Here's a pic of one outside the packaging:

Tashiji, I truly appreciate your kind and sincere words! I've always thought that if you prefer the N. American single hook packaging character art, then these E3's would really strike your fancy since there is no peg hook cutout.

It really has been like searching for gold to find these figures! Finding the Spyro today renews my faith that I'll eventually track down Gilly as well!!! *fingers crossed*

Still doesn't take away from the fact that the packaging looks like crap.

The fact that it has packaging at all is what's important here. Until someone can come forth and prove otherwise, this is the best existing E3 Spyro. Besides, I've seen far worse than a single crease in a Skylanders package.

TBH, I've only ever seen one other picture of one in it's package and it was rumored to be Bobby Kotick's (Activision CEO) himself! Pic below:

No, they're not. I've had a chance to own all 3, but I passed on them. I was offered the Trigg for as low as 35 bucks, and I still passed.

Them being in the position they're in, makes them god awful in my eyes, despite these being pretty obscure. They would look out of place on my wall. Actually, I couldn't even hang them on my wall, because they have no pegs cut out of their packaging.

However, what each Skylanders fan/collector feels is worth what to them is all that matters. I just couldn't bring myself to own them, but that doesn't mean others wouldn't treasure them.

Of all the pictures I've seen of these, the Spyro I bought actually was posed in the absolute best way possible. He's facing forward and looks almost like he's supposed to be securely packaged that way. I should get the figure on Friday... I'll update the thread with pics then...

Don't take this the wrong way, but if he sold it less than the listing price you cheated him out of money (and eBay). you should've ponied up or risk losing it to another collector fair and square. Also, for other collectors looking for data points on "value", you also robbed them of that.

I'm glad you are able to fill your collection, but off-ebay transactions are not cool in my opinion. Seller is technically not covered under ebay's policy and put him at risk with ebay.

you coud ask some 1 to made a fake box way cheaper them that. was just made the design, them made the plastic and put your spyro inside. nobody will actualy look at yours is not in a museum.... and plastic and paper are cheap this days

If the seller knew he had something, he should've 1. run it for seven - ten days, 2. no reserve and 3. refuse to take it off eBay. Then we wouldn't be playing the game asking how much it's worth. I'm guessing in an open market you probably would've paid 50% more. OTOH, I'm betting not everyone understands it's significance or existence yet. Without you posting here I personally would not have known about it.

The Sellers of each got ahold of me inbetween January and August of 2012. Sadly, I delete all my PM's due to clutter, after replying to said PM's, with the exception of when I was dealing with those I was trading cards with, or I would have been glad to help.

However, if someone comes forward again with another Gill, I will tell them you're looking for them.

Congrats on that 2011 E3 find. You must have been prowling eBay at just the right time to find that auction. I have eBay saved search setup for those exact figures and never got a notification about it.

To be honest, it is against eBay policy to negotiate a deal outside of eBay once the listing has been listed. I am at fault there. The seller did initiate a 7 day auction starting at $150, with a Buy It Now price of $750. With little data points to compare with, I personally think he did a good job of listing what he had.

As I have said before, I have been offered $1000 for my E3 Trigger Happy. I believe the market for these figures to be approximately in the $750-1000 range, perhaps more in a bidding war. I have communicated with jjgames so that he is able to record a market value on his pricechart site that reflects what others have actually offered to buy the same figure for. I have since learned that the seller did receive multiple offers of $750 after the fact. The seller expressed concern about me sharing the price we agreed upon, thus I will respect his wishes accordingly.

Appears they are nothing special. All 4 have raised model numbers. The pair on the right.. Arms are at a higher angle. But they have different numbers..

The Manager at my GameStop told me along time ago that he has the Trigger Happy E3 but it came in a square black box with bubble wrap, and did not know what character he had until he opened it. It also had the sticker saying "put me on the portal power" also.

Hmmmm... that's interesting. Perhaps promo figures were sent out in alternative packaging (to minimize cost) so that the figures could be demo'd? I'd love to hear more about these if anyone has more info???

I cited you in the article as one of the sources, but I have edited the article to give you a specific shout-out for much of the info. Sorry if I didn't make that clear enough in my write-up. Some of the info came from listings for the games on eBay.

I probably missed the part in your article where you cited a generic source on darkspyro. Regardless, I didn't comment to get recognition, I just found it eerily similar to have read your article and remember something I once wrote. Great job on the article and what you do on your pricechart site!

Unfortunately, I cannot definitively say that what you have is indeed from 2011 E3 or not. The TH base marked L2119 looks promising, but I would reserve judgement until I see the box and most importantly the "Bring Me to Life at the Activision E3 booth" sticker. Did it happen to come with card or webcode by chance?

Well, Spyro came today! The seller spared no shipping expense in that he paid for overnight delivery, insurance, and signature delivery!

TBH, these E3's are difficult to pose, no argument there. The more you wiggle and try and manipulate the figure into a certain pose, the more it fights back at you. I just decided to leave well enough alone and keep them as you see in the pics, at least for now.

I was able to get a peek at both of their green bases and they both had the Activision Factory Stamp of L1115. This combined with the image capture I got from a video of someone opening their E3 Gill Grunt indicates that a truly authentic 2011 E3 figure has the Factory Stamp L1115 I.D.


In summary, I am relieved to have finally found this figure! It did have a few condition issues that I couldn't see in the original listing, most concerning, is a tiny puncture hole from the back of the packaging- protruding through the Skylander inverted character card. The blister, thankfully, is pristine leaving just minor corner folds and not so surprising packaging marks. Otherwise, all things considered, I'm quite blessed and overjoyed to have it!

Now it's back to the grind of finding their long lost brother... good ole Harpoon boy!

I realize that I'm somewhat hyping this up and leaving the price a mystery, BUT I MUST honor my word to the seller. As I stated before, at least two other collectors were willing to pay the Buy It Now Price of $750. That alone establishes a market baseline for these E3's. I will say, however, that from a historical point of view an E3 2011 Spyro just might be the most desirable of the three, given Spyro's popularity outside of Skylanders and the fact that the initial fad started with Spyro's Adventure...
