Yeah. I was perusing them last night. I figure the safest bet is to buy something reasonably priced first and see how it goes. I have a few things I want to get off there of course. I know a lot of people here don't agree with scalping. But when it comes to procuring prototypes, those things have value as you've seen with the Ninjini. People aren't always privy to how to acquire these things and sell them for a nice markup. I will never fault a scalper for taking advantage of supply and demand. I hope your transaction goes through smoothly Matteo.

so... you could actually scrape the paint off a PB and get a clear? im sorry for repeatedly bringin up this subject, pb is my absolute favorite skylander.

Unfortunately no. Scraping or using paint thinner will not do much at all, as a normal factory PB is made of colored plastic with some paint apps over it. The underneath isn't clear. The clear ice PB proto that langenfeld and I have is the same clear plastic used to make the other clear ice variants.

Dont be jelly. Admire the various PB protos in this thread. That's partially what it's here for.

I hear ya! I'd do about anything for one of the original TFB protos from the original concept (see page 1). TFB doesn't really let their protos loose, but once in awhile an ex-Activision employee decides to sell.

I believe its only going to be harder to score a true prototype off Taobao anymore, because I'm sure Activision is aware of the leak of figures that were sold on Taobao earlier.

It's getting harder and harder to find good clear images of protos. Below are a few I've not focused on before...

I really need to spend some time at TFB headquarters so I can take some real pics and do these protos justice! Just waiting for the invite TFB!?!

Well let me get the sucking up out of the way I absolutely love this thread protos are a cool thing to research. So a few days ago i was making some bing searches and "blizzard jet vac" was a quick search so I clicked it and I found an excerpt about no one knowing if it was a production special or a prototype. then oddly enough toywiz.com has a place holder for it on their site. Getting even more curious I started putting it on my wants list on other forums, at least to get some info, and some of the people there said it was a prototype and it didnt nessesarily exsist as a figure, it as far as prototypes go, so with the little info I was gaining I thought "hey! DluA might know something!" so I scanned the OP and saw the pick so I thought I'd ask about this aloof guy

This was the first time Ive read it thanks! Ive come across it on several peoples blogs speculating it was an exclusive variant from e3. and iam now also finding place holders on other sites for it. It being a 3d scalpture, as mentioned, seems like what it really is. hopefully i can find more on it

I had heard the paint jobs on jade flashwing werent that great. in fact the paint has flaked off mine and its still sealed

Matteomax, you didn't actually buy prototypes (I believe-continue to read to find out the result of my experiment I conducted to see if they were true prototypes). I wanted to find out if the unpainted/prototype figures were truly prototypes so I removed the paint from my spare Trigger Snappy and Wrecking Ball. They then became exactly what people are buying on Taobao. So I believe you only bought factory throw aways that never had a chance to be painted. OR, Before the factory painted them, they were smuggled out of the factory. Either way, they never had a chance to get a RFID chip put into them. (Yet, I still want them...even though I technically have them. All I now need to do is take out the RFID chip)

Speaking of real prototypes... the figures below have actually been verified with TFB to be authentic Activision prototypes. These protos have made their way into some of our forum members collections! How cool is that!?

Im not sure this relates in anyway. but i have two kinds of series 2 prism breaks. one has completely clear crystals and the other, jadeish-green.

I don't believe That Pirate Seas ship is a true prototype. It looks like another one of the unpainted figures. I remember seeing that on Ebay... Do you have proof? Just curious.

If you have read through this thread, then you have seen a handful of times where I've verified with a TFB Quality Control Manager as to the authenticity of the prototypes posted. He is able to verify with his Activision counterparts whether what we come across is indeed authentic. This manager has always been very prudent and forthcoming regarding what information he finds, even sometimes letting me know that some items are indeed factory unpainted samples rather than protos. With regard to the Pirate Seas ship, however, this was our exact conversation:

There are websites that are "agents". They buy the item, get it, then ship it to you.

That's a normal S2 chop-chop...Just because it's on Taobao doesn't mean it's a prototype.
