I'm gonna go and guess that the special attack (the attack that the base does) won't have an upgrade path of it's own. Unless each section of the character will have it's own individual upgrade tree, but the upgrades for the base don't branch out and just have one continuous upgrade path.

After paying close attention to the complete press presentation, I have come to some neat conclusions that seem to make a lot of sense.

First off, the jump button is indeed A (X, A, or .
Second, the attacks are as follows.... X (Square, B, or Y)are the first, B (Circle, C*, or A) and the tertiary are Y (Triangle, Z*, or X)*
Third, and most odd, the swaplanders' tertiary abilities will be something that has to do with their legs...so that any swaplander with those legs can pull off that move...*(at least I think)

*I am not sure about this.....

The controls are as follows....Xbox button (Ps3, Wii, and 3ds)
Though I haven't played skylanders on a wii so idk about the attack buttons....

Could be cause its not finished. The angle I saw had the bottom cut off so it could've said it under his name.

Actually they do have the series listed under the name, you can see it on this video of the press conference:

and of course there is still 6-10 months of development left, i dont believe the demos we see now are exactly how we will see them at release.

I got curious about something. I am hoping every level doesn't have a desert feel to it, like the level in the demo. They said the game takes place on a particular island, which gives me the feeling we may be lacking in the level variety department.

Also, the last time Vicarious Visions developed a Skylanders game (not ported) they went with the concept of action over exploration, and anything you ever picked up, outside of hats, was radiance, just like N-Space traded out picking up radiance in Giants, for coins.

I am hoping the same types of objectives from Spyro's Adventure and Giants make it in there. You know, collecting Winged Sapphires, Soul Gems, Treasures, Legendary Treasures, Hats, Luck-O-Tron Wheels, Story Scrolls, etc.

For the record, they said that the story will be in the Cloudbreak islands, which means there are a lot of islands and probably every level takes place in different islands, well except probably the last levels

No, it takes place in the Cloudbreak Isles. I expect the levels to have the same amount of variety in SSA3DS. In fact, the area shown just looks like a section of the Dirt Seas to me(hence the landsharks). I really doubt the clip shows off a huge part of the Cloudbreak Isles.
Based on the fact that nothing that looks like a hub has been shown yet, and the bird that new gal has, I think that travel itself may be as large in the story as in Giants, and that we'll be "flying off" from whatever hub we do have quite a bit.

the funny thing is, currently, my Terrafin is wearing a Sombrero (good stats for him ATM) and we thought, "that actually looks good on him" Guess the devs felt the same

That would be so awesome, meeting some NPC's that know certain Skylanders/related to a Skylander/are friends with a Skylander. @_@

Or enemies. Liek you fight them. Or ambushes of evil terrafins.

Ambushes of evil Terrafin would be fun, and could be tough, if they all burrown and do belly flops.

Terrific. Because it wasn’t hard enough trying to keep our Skylander collection somewhat intact. The kids carry them around the house, in the van, out around the town, and we’re always misplacing them and trying to locate that special one that one of the boys needs to have. Now add in the capability to lose half a toy and all the fun that will cause. I will admit I love this idea. I’m just already preparing myself for the worst.

What a peculiar place to put that billboard.

I just noticed something while looking at Blast Zone on that billboard, he shares many characteristics with Drill Sergeant (grill mouth/jaw, round head shape, eyes, coloring, and arm structure). Could this mean that Blast Zone could be Arkeyan designed?

This is always how it's been. It made no sense for the newlanders debuting in Giants to be called "series 2" when they were being released for the first time.

People forget that Skylanders are also toys/figurines.
