Nah, that's only at places like Best Buy, who put their own sticker over the barcode. I am looking at the bottom of a GDFC right now, and it's barcode is visible.

The Scorpion Striker SHOULD have it's own UPC, since it's shipping to Gamestop first, in its own boxes of six. Otherwise, all figures and games should have the universal UPC tied to that item.

Well, they better let us pick our sidekick or this is gonna be madness.

If this is true, and I hope it's not, this is easily the worst mistake with Skylanders yet in my eyes. I have everything you can possibly buy aside from chase variants so to introduce exclusives that would require me to buy duplicates of what I already own is beyond absurd.

It wouldn't be as bad if the sidekicks actually did something in the game but they are completely useless. $8 for a bag of chips and $2 for shipping was a much better deal to try and get these things.

They will let you pick your Sidekick. Infact, the memo specifically states 4 per customer, and if each customer wants a complete set, they have to spend 119.96, and accessories don't qualify for the promotion.

Can you post a picture of the memo?

Gotta do what you gotta do. I'll probably buy the Xbox 360 Giants for my daughter's Xbox in her room plus the Golden Dragonfire Cannon and another SS pack. Hopefully the starter kits apply towards the $30 requirement.

If they don't have anything new, just buy the old stuff they do have and hang on to it. If you can't exchange it at GameStop later for new characters, you could exchange them at Walmart or somewhere that has a more lenient exchange policy for the new characters when the do become available.

One thing to keep in mind is that stores will give you the lowest price if you don't have a receipt. I don't remember any of the Walmart sales on Skylanders but if you to take them back to Toys R Us you could potentially be getting credit for them at 40% off (at the minimum).

I'm a reg. at my gamestop, and support them alot, they said they'll hold a set for me. :3 I already own all the giants stuff.. But, lucky for me I have siblings that like skylanders. It works out for me and them.

Just confirmed with my Gamestop as well. The worst thing about this promotion is the short length of time and the expense. I have everything out except for Lightcore Shroomboom. Also they should have just waited a few more days to release the Scorpion Striker as that is almost one of the sidekicks. Being a collector, I don;t like this promo at all. Frito Lay one was much much better and easier to get. This definitely has the potential to be a nightmare. If they are going to do this, they really need to get some NEW product on the shleves (for those of us who have been their loyal customers and have everything or most everything out) and some product restock. My Gamestop got a shipment last week, end of the week of Wave 1 and a few of 2 and they might have had 20-25 pieces left and maybe 5-6 different characters and a few Golden Dragonfire cannon pack and maybe a three pack or 2. Not sure what logic they are using with this promo, especially for their loyal customers, hopefully they release everything left by the 31st so this promo makes more sense. Anxious for the sidekicks, but do not like this procedure. The loyal customers are even going to get put out if they keep up with the moving dates at the last minute (i.e. the Scorpion Striker Pack)and these almost impossible expensive promos. Exciting and Disappointing at the same time. Guess next week should be interesting.

I'm just glad I held off buying my kids their Royal DT, now I have the perfect excuse to finally buy a 4th Battlegrounds. If they don't happen to have an extra Scorpion Striker next Wednesday, I will just buy some more single packs that my youngest daughter can fiddle with.

Unless my gamestop gets a major restocking they won't even have the Battlegrounds. They haven't had it in weeks. They have about 10 S1 Whirlwinds, 20 Bouncers, and a few triple packs. That's it.

Actually this could work out pretty cool for me. I've been debating on where to get a Wii U for a while now that I'm all saved up. I'll simply delve into my Wii U fund, buy things at Gamestop, get the bonus points there with all of the spending, and take them back to Walmart, which gives you store credit. Then I'll just buy the Wii U at Gamestop.

I already have pretty much everything out, and it's useless for me to buy stuff like the Battlegrounds pack too. (No iOS devices)

Just hoping Gamestop will have a lot of stock in. Seems weird they're only doing if for less than a week though. I guess we could possibly expect them to come back at a later time. What'll really be a kicker is if these end up being sold somewhere else or through some other outlet (that works out being much cheaper)

For those asking, the promo runs form Jan 16th through Jan 31. The Assistant Manager at my Gamestop, who is also a friend, read me the email memo verbatim a few minutes ago. It is also indicated that they are a Gamestop excl. at least for now, (We all know how most of these exclusives have been). I'm sure they'll hold me a set, but not sure about new merchandise coming in though, and for me they have to release new stuff to buy. They are supposed to get them in in the next day or so,according to the email, and more details to follow. The biggest question remaining is are they the new Sidekicks or the old Frito Lay ones? No confirmation on this but I' m guessing they are they new Giants ones. Really want these but......I guess we'll see. Will be interesting that the sidekick versions of Thumpback, Eye Brawl and Ninjini will hit possible before the regular ones do. Some kind of weird irony I guess. (smiley face)

Honestly spending $120 to get them is almost as bad as buying them on ebay

Spend the $120 get your sidekicks if you already have the stuff you bought sell it on.

To be fair, this is actually good news for those in other countries, as EB games should end up getting it. Although this IS kind of a bad promotion. Yeah we have access to them, but...seriously, these things are useless. It'd be a different story if they were some special character like Granite Crusher, but these are little collectable guys that pretty much only show up in your game and that's it.

At least justifiably, the chips and the mail in are a lot cheaper than dropping $120 on little figures.

As much as I love Eye-Brawl, his mini is just a mini him. Thumpling looks adorable so I will buy something at GameStop on the 16th for Thumpling.

Skylanders is a american game made by a american company. When Europe or Australia comes out with Skyomon then you will get the opportunity to get little-mons.

The sidekicks are really just collector's items meant to promote the game/shift sales. It is not like they are anything really special.

I know some people are big collectors and need ALL the skylanders merchandise, but I got Terrabite last time, and he was useless. I used him maybe once. I'm not falling for this. I'm only getting one more skylander and that's Ninjini but other than that I'm going to focus on upgrading the ones I have.

I was reading about this today. I'm eager to get my hands on a set of em!

What if these aren't the new sidekicks, but the old ones? Didn't the Frito Lay promotion just end about a month ago for the old sidekicks? If they had a lot of extra, they could be shipping those to the Gamestop stores to get people to purchase the older merchandise before the new wave and get rid of the extra sidekicks...

Relax. It is just a game. Also, let us not forget the bonuses the US doesn't get but EU and JPN do (like the Resident Evil 6 collectors edition!)
