I read somewhere that you could make no-one a owner of a Skylander, just press reset and take the Skylander off the portal before the portal re-identifies it, is it true? Or have I misread it, because that trick is not working for me?

You can transfer ownership. What are you trying to do? I don't get the point of making no one an owner.

it really sounds like an OCD thing for collectors. I suppose its possible to have in be a no-owner if you take it off right when you reset the character. But whats the point? how can you tell if a skylanders doesnt have ownership? Because in order to check it, youd have to put it on the portal and gain ownership, lol. Seems to defeat its own purpose. its just a peeve for some people maybe.

Disowning a Skylander. It's like telling your pet "Hey, I read online that it would be cool if you had no owner, so hows about you live under that nice bridge in the park for a while!"

If you reset the Skylander and take it off the portal before it re-loads, it will have no owner. It's good if you don't want to constantly take ownership of your Skylanders on a new account.

One reason I could think of someone wanting to completely reset a Skylanders is if they are trying to sell a sealed figure that they've put on their portal since you can use them while theyre still in their packaging, Can't exactly say its brand new if it shows that it has a previous owner.

True, but I've bought brand new skylanders from stores and had to change the ownership. My guess is because the figure was demoed or bought/used/returned before it was opened. Even then, it doesn't really diminish the value. It's 'used' in a technological sense. But its still considered brand new for collectors if the packaging is completely undamaged. |

Doesn't work for 'Special' Skylanders since they start at level 5 and 2100 gold.

Quick question on that though: When you reset a "Special" Skylander such as the Glow In the Dark ones, do they go back to being Level 5 and having 2100 Gold?

I have not tried it but I honestly doubt it. The level and gold are simply factory data uploaded and the fig/game is not smart enough to know to reset back to those values.

That's a pretty dumb game then, lol. Just kidding. Imagine if someone bought all the Special Skylanders, reset them and return them back to the stores just to troll the next person that buys it. Make 'em work for the EXP and money, ha.

I think you find that many people who get the variants paid through the nose for them and would not be playing them, in any case?

It would be awkward down the track to get them back to Level 5 and <x> gold to make them "new" again.
