Hot Head was suppose to have glowing hands at some point [CLOSED]

I cracked open Hot Head to see how his internal construction was like and discovered there are wire holes trough both arms and a plug-clip for an LED in his hands. Apparently he was designed for the two extra LED's but the only one there leads to his head.

So, one could probably modify him, by placing LED's in the slots they were supposed to go, in his hands?

I imagine it was a cost issue one way or another.

Well I don't work in the manufacturing industry and I'm willing to bet you don't either so we can't really say what it would've cost them overall. I'm just assuming it was due to cost not because they just didn't want to. Coulda been safety or power consumption too.

Hot Head would have been infinitely better if his hands had the glow feature in them as well. I wonder what the reasons were exactly for them to axe something like that.
Someone should ask that at Toy Fair or something.

Yea I agree it would've been better. I'm surprised no one has asked them about it yet.

I think I'm going to try this if I can find a 3rd one. I can't imagine that the LEDs require that much power. It might be a simple matter of just splicing into the existing wiring.

What method did you use to take him apart? I want to articulate my Tree Rex but I want to keep his lighting/wiring intact(wether I choose to keep them in or remove them for future use).

I tried, his hand came off very easy, light still worked. Some of his plastic stayed in, i tried removing it and the wires snapped. BE VERY CAREFUL, there so thin!!

I suspect multiple LEDs could lead to many failures with one or more extremities over time or even in the manufacturing process. This wouldn't be in Activision's best interest, IMHO, with their current replacement policy.

The Tesla induction to power the LEDs may be enough for two smaller lights (like LC Jet Vac) but not 3 larger ones like what would be required for Hot Head?

i've had the portal powering 5 ultra bright led's linked together so the power output is not the reason they didn't do this

That's why his name is Hot Head and not "Hot Hands". BOOM! smilie

Interesting find by the way. I'm sure you could just add LED to his hands if you really want them to glow. I mean forum member Light Kore did it with other Skylanders, and they didn't even have any wiring to begin with.

Good point, but still, his hands were held up like torches.

if you do add LED's to him use the white ones from another skylander like bouncer, i altered the eye piece for his eyes so that the LED goes into the eye piece instead of sitting bellow it and now his eyes are a lot brighter. The yellow LED lights are dull and the plastic for his hands are already colored so using the clear white LED will be nice and bright.
