Exactly....I still have Swarm and Pop Fizz to get from waves 1 and 2 and probably Sunburn or Ignitor depending on who's where (BTW this is only out of all the characters I want excluding S2 as I will only get them if I get Swarm and Pop Fizz before my b-day or Christmas.....)

There's 2 sides to this coin.
On one, parents are looking for more Skylanders for their children. They're obviously going to be buying a lot, but not the ones that people seem to be clamoring for (which I think is just the "new car" feeling more than actually liking the character) On the other, the parents are sort of forced to buy the currently released characters, clearing out that stock before new ones come in after Christmas (and people have that extra money to spend from gifts), which results in Activision selling more all around, instead of just at one point. (Which is why I believe this is exactly what they've done)

Thumpterra12 - This is not directed towards you personally. I'm just chiming in because of the "it's that simple" line. So apologies in advance if you take this the wrong way. Not every parent will buy their kids every Skylander that's currently available. I was talking to a couple of parents last night (while I was looking for variants) and they were overwhelmed at the number of Skylanders there were, the differences between S:SA, S:Giants, Series 1, Series 2, Lightcores, etc. In the end, they just bought S:SA and 2 3-packs. The total buy-in cost for S:Giants (all available figures, no variants, no BOGO, no 3-packs except for Legendaries and Dragonfire Cannon) is well over $400. While there are obviously some parents that will spend this much on their kids there are many who won't or can't. For the people who will buy every single Skylander out there I still feel they will buy Skylanders AFTER the Christmas season even after they've spent those so-called "holiday dollars". Wave 3 and wave 4 aren't here so I will spend on money on other things for my daughter (which admittedly I would have spent it on other things anyway because I haven't had the willpower to save anything Skylander-related for Christmas up to this point). s there anyone here who will wait until next Christmas to buy any Skylanders that released in 2013? If you have the means to buy them, you're more than likely going to buy them regardless of when they're released. Not every kid/parent/person out there is as enthusiastic about Skylanders as most of us. Referring back to the parents I met last night...they had never heard of Skylanders until recently. Just because YOU would do something doesn't mean EVERYONE will do the same thing. What makes sense to YOU won't always make sense to EVERYONE ELSE. There are so many variables to why people buy what they buy so it really isn't "that simple". |
