Projectiles rule. . Too bad we lose terrafin in the tradeoff but we have on sotf on nether welder (too bad) and with are all killers

Of the purely Melee characters, I like Voodood best. Stealth Elf is very close, she would be the best but she's just boringly overpowered like Drobot...

This is an interesting debate since EVERY Skylander has a Ranged attack so there are no pure melee Skylander's. I'd say the trump goes to Melee since they are just so O.P. close up where ranged does good consistent damage from afar, they can get into trouble when the damage is in their face.

Stump smash and chop chop have long range, but the rest I would say just have a mid range supplement. I would not consider boomer or DT long range either. Just mid-range. You still have to be near someone to hit them with any move Wham-shell has.

She technically has that Mushroom spray which I don't think anyone in their right mind uses but it is there and technically a ranged attack.

Sorry, didn't make my point.....so I'm not really sure what the OP is asking as the base question is just melee or projectile.

Considering the vagueness of the original post I would assume they were talking about which was better/more powerful. If not I am totally confused. Maybe it was asking play style preference. In this game I personally like both but have a few more favs in ranged. Camo, Double Trouble, Flameslinger, Gill Grunt, Zook and Dinorang are my main ranged and I favor Voodood, Terrafin and Wham-Shell are my main bruisers.

Yeah, I've said it before and I'll say it again: Wham-Shell is one of the best Skylanders and good pick for the last one to be released. (though not sure why they didn't throw Jim in with Camo and Warnado).

See I love Wham-Shell also...there's a reason he's my avatar...but he does have a weakness. Let's compare him to say Voodood. They are both beasts up close and personal. However Wham-Shell is more reliant on his combos then someone like Voodood. And I've noticed that any damage Wham receives will interrupt his melee attacks. Plus he has no escape/closer mechanic like Voodood. I think Voodood would win on the technical side but Wham is funner to play...at least for me. Plus I think overall, unless you play Stealth Elf, I think for us veteran gamers playing a melee centric character adds a slight amount of challenge to playing...just a slight.

It's hard to tell, with some characters, what they actually are. Ignitor has excellent long-range attacks, but his best move is the close-range flame mortar which, even though it doesn't employ his sword, is what I would call a melee attack. Same with Dino Rang and the boomerang shield. There are others, like Wham Shell, who are melees and have their best attack (Poseidon Strike in this example) at a distance. I agree with what others are saying; it's hard to say for sure which characters qualify as what.

That being said, I do shy away from pure melee characters like Slam Bam, and I'm hesitant to pick Skylanders who have no source of ranged damage. I'm going to say projectile.

@earth dragon if someone had all melee attacks (if player knew how to use each button) vs a all projectile (again) who would win pretty much

You forgot to mention Chop Chop as a melee attacker. Therefore, projectile.

I like melee because i always play better with them like
Chop Chop
Ghost Roaster
and pretty much anyone with a melee attack
Also I feel like in close range i can't miss (except for ignitor i'm on SotF for him)

You know what's the worst about Meleeists? The good ones are badly outnumbered by the sheer amount of Rangers.
