K I know that there is very little support for the argument, but I went back to the store and the same employee was there. I asked if there was any way he could prove that any new Skylanders would be actually coming out before giants, and he did pull up the informative sheet on the computer. Unfortunately he wouldn't read the sheet to me excactly, nor would he let me see it, but he did say, "There will be three new Skylanders coming in July. A tech one, a fire one, and what looks like a water one with electric powers) Obviously the last one sounds like zap. He said their were no pictures unfortunately. My guess for something we might actually see is three new variants, including a new zap, or some of the giants characters. But he was pretty confident that we would not be disappointed in July. Dunno take it as you will.

Ok, know that makes perfect sense. Of course new variants, how else do they have people stayed connected to the game. The tech has to be boomer because it is not getting a remodel and the other three hav variants, for drobot possibly lightcore. The fire, Flameslinger, same reasons as boomer. And zap is probably the third. So we will have to wait and see, watch this be a TRU exclusive.

Really, it's a sign that they didn't have enough content to keep the "avid collectors" involved for a full year. Now they're stuck on autopilot for the next four months with nothing new to offer besides the promotion Sidekicks. We're stuck with a summer of "I hope the new content gets released early" comments.

From a marketing perspective, they should have been released slower (for example, the Adventure Packs could have come out in January, March, May and July, so there'd still be something for people to be waiting for). But if they went TOO slow, some players would have become frustrated at not being able to complete the collection and would have lost interest. It's a tricky balance.


They're obviously doing well enough in sales, though - my local Wal*Mart had about 200 in stock back on Friday. Stopped by there again yesterday and it was like a typhoon hit it, as they were down to about 50 or so. And unless they shipped them to different stores, they sold at least TEN Wrecking Balls over the weekend.

Just confirms that no matter how "common" a particular Skylander may seem to us, they still sell.

At least this variant WERD is coming out in decent enough numbers. It gives you a chance to get 1 at retail prices. Shame it only seems like US/Walmart release.

So in one of the Giants videos there was a Legendary Drill Seargent so that could be the new Tech one for July. It could be a triple pack of Leg. Tech (Drill), Fire (Ignitor), and Water (Zap). If you think about it..Air, Life, Fire and Water still don't have legendary figures yet. Those could be released before Giants and Leg. Drill might be the next Walmart exclusive or Toys R US exclusive at the Giants launch.

It wouldn't surprise me to see a Green Stealth Elf or Green Zook or Camo someday. Red Drill came without warning. Green was the other choice on the Facebook competition. I am a little surprised that they made yet another variant of Drill..He has 3 and isn't in my top 5 favorite except in the Universe Air Defense game.

There are lots of possibilities with these options alone..but I would be thrilled to see a never before seen character!

FUN MOM, Slam Bam is practically already confirmed to be the Water Legendary. However, I hope you're right and he comes with Legendary Ignitor because I don't want to wait like Legendary Trigger Happy again. Also, out of curiosity, where did you see the LDS? I really hope you miss-saw because that would mean two Tech Legendary characters...

I think activision should make waves 4 and 5 easier to find rather than make new waves and variants.


Dragon's peak is warming the shelves at the TRU closest to me, the second closest has Ignitor, camo, warnado, and triple pack G sitting there. But I am still to see wham shell locally. But more good news, as I saw a lone Voodood sitting on the shelves at my local target yesterday. If they do make these new guys, then they better be easy to find or skylanders will fall in giants faster than I can say "why the hell did my sidekicks not have a fourm?"

Agreed. Last time we had Camos and Warnados here, it was, in fact, left from the wave before that! Shame on Activision- I bet some of the scalpers are the employees working there themselves that agree to make less of X and Y.

Ok I recieved more confirmation from a different employee (a manager) today that Activision will be releasing 3 "new" Skylanders before Giants.

You should tell him it's July, where's my three new characters?

ZapNorris- Agreed 100%... I no longer check for anything, even though I have a few packs left, because I have no hope of finding the variants, and the Series 1 set will be put into the bargain bin soon and are widely available anyway...

I'm hoping we can get more chances to get the variants. I check everywhere I go that sells skylanders for mispackaged guys.... Or bad paint jobs.

I also want to hope these guys are a new variant wave or a giants sneak peek.

And you've just explained why certain sets and variants are "rarer" than others. It keeps you going into stores that you wouldn't normally visit.

If on any of those visits, you (or your parents where applicable) decide to buy something you hadn't planned on because you're "there anyway and couldn't find what you wanted," then the store wins.

Target, Walmart or wherever would much rather have you keep visiting the store and NEVER find the variant or Wham-Shell or whatever you're looking for. Because once you find everything, if you stop going, they lose potential sales.

The thing that strikes me as the most bizarre out of this is the immediate dismissal/ignoring of the legendary aspect. The legendary aspect seems to actually be the most likely, although with 4 instead of 3. Since we have 4 already with Chop Chop, Trigger Happy, Spyro, and Bash, that means only Undead, Tech, Magic, and Earth have a legendary. It doesn't seem fair to the remaining 4 elements (Fire, Air, Life, and Water) to be without a legendary version of a character.

They have mini versions of 4 existing skylanders

Stealth elf,s is Whisper elf.
Trigger happy,s is Trigger snappy.
Gill Grunt,s Is Gill Runt.
And Last Terrafin,s is Terrabite.

Well, we know that Slam Bam and Ignitor are legendaries. All we need now is Legendary Lightning Rod and Legendary Stealth Elf..

I saw the Legendary Drill Searg. on the Activision "GIANTS" You Tube video and I think I saw it on a Giants poster.

By the way..all of my other ideas, are just speculation. I didn't realize that it was official that Slam Bam was the water Legendary..That's good news to me! As far as Ignitor being a Legendary..I just put that in.. I have no idea who the fire Legendary would be. I just guessed him because if you had the Nintendo 3DS version you wouldn't have Trigg. Happy and they made him a Legendary figure. So unless I missed reading that line..Ignitor's not "officially" the Fire Legendary figure from my words..anyway. I was just sort of thinking about what made sense as far as Ignitor goes. Keep in mind Activision doesn't always make sense in their character choices as far as a random consumer's thoughts..Why would you make a Red Drill and a Legendary Drill too? They shouldn't have made another TECH Legendary before the other elements that don't have one already. Just another random thought..there are some new Magic Items in Skylander's Universe that don't have an explanation that I have heard of anyway..

If you look at the right of the picture (Slam Bam's left) you can clearly see two fists. The other side is harder to see but I assume one arm is kinda behind the other.

My local Gamestop claims that they have never gotten a single Wham Shell, or even a Dark Spyro someone traded in...

Would make sense to bring out a legendary character for the remaining four elements. I'd definately get them for my collection.

Wii games cannot be patched. Any Skylanders that will ever work with the original game had to have their info on the original disc at launch. That is why people have been able to find information on the disc about items that hadn't been released yet, such as hacks to activate the Sidekicks that haven't been released.

If there were 3 brand new Skylanders coming out, their information would already be on the disc, and they aren't. Thusly, this rumor is a lie.

There however could be new Skylanders that are merely cosmetically different, such as different colors, flocked, etc.

Contrary to popular belief, Wii games CAN be patched- through Wii Shop too. Not to mention the Skyward Sword fiasco. However, it's apparently a complicated and lengthy process, compared to PS360.

(so sorry if some one already posted this) well I remember some one posting a long time ago that they put in this technology so they can add new figures/characters to the game, so I won't be that suprised.

and I think the only kind of new characters they'd ever release would be variants.

They still haven't even bothered to patch the game, let alone update it with new Skylander data. I doubt we'll see anything new outside of some re-paints.

Who knows? The people at my local Best Buy know nothing. I asked an employee to look in their shipments to look for variants ( of course, no luck,) he then told me that there was another Skylanders display in the store. I then asked another person working at customer service if there was another display anywhere, and he said no...

In a few days, I will go there again and ask about these figures...
