So I was out doing my daily search for skylanders, and came accross some intriguing information. According to an employee that is well informed about Skylanders. Before Giants Activision will release 3 new skylanders and three new legendary versions from the original 23. He said the first new skylander would be released early July and would be a muscular red and brown skylander, he said he couldn't release the name or excact date. He also wouldn't tell me any more about the others. I'm sorry if this is already been posted, but I haven't seen anything. I was wondering if anyone had heard any of this and/or had any more info?!

To say I am skeptical would be an under statement. Employees have been known to mess with the hardcore skylander fans or just to make stuff up to look informed. There is no additional coding in the original game to support three new characters. I almost expect TFB and activision to release a few reposes before the game to maintain fan interest but releasing characters four months before there is compatible game software to support there presence goes against the basic reason Skylanders works.

In the end this information just sounds wrong and their is no proof to indicate this is even a slight possibility.

edit: another reason to doubt this information is that the original poster claims that there are 23 original figures.

Given that sundry 3rd parties have "hacked" the game to find "hidden" assets (such as the sidekicks being covered long before officially announced), I would think that they would have been discovered by now.

Hence, I will file the employee's claim in the bunkem file, I am afraid to say.

Yeah I was pretty sure it was false information, or the employee was misinformed. I was just hoping something good actually came out of it. He did also say they'd be releasing the adventure pack characters in single packs which is more believable and I've actually heard rumored before.

gotta agree with this . if there were other in game characters they would have already been found.

its amazing how gullible people have got when it comes to skylanders.

I've heard there was going to be something happening during the summer, but that's all I was given. No Specifics.

Single packs of the starter packs and adventure pack figures.

New figures may be just a taster of what's to come in Giants, like the chase figures do nothing special.

Wait and see. Just hope they're released everywhere and not like the chase figures. I hate the way they ssell the chase figures.

I would find it odd to release new charakters or legendary when they already have the new gaming comming up with new legends and 16 completely new chars.. I think he might have been reffering to the Giants game

Well, it is possible that they could release a couple reposes and new Skylanders for Giants before the game comes out to create hype. However, if they do this THEY MUST HAVE GOOD STOCK. They need to be as well supplied with new Skylanders as TRU is with Legendary Trigger Happy. Otherwise this scalping crap will happen all over again.

^ I see where you are going with this, but why? Remember we live in a world of capitalism, and just throwing random skylanders out there will not help. They are saving until THE ACTUAL day. Doing anything earlier would seem weird. Yes I know all the hype and all, but wouldn't they have done it for SSA. They would just randomly do this without a test first. I highly doubt they will bring out the reposed skylanders and why would they even send out skylanders only playable on giants before the gam? They want to wait until the release of giants so they can see how popular this game is going to be and how fast they have to restock.
One possible explanations for this could be the sidekicks. They are the only know figures to be released for skylanders and terra tie might be the muscular guy brought up. A second idea but probably to early would be what GM brought up. He stated that we will be ale to preorder figures. A thrid and most likely option would be in the game magazines. Nintendo power and Gameinformer are going to release skylanders till release of the game. In the July magazine for Gameinformer, I get it earlier because I am a power up pro member, and they introduced bouncer, tree Rex, jet-Vac and reposes cynder. He might have benn talking about Tree Rex. He is red and brown and muscular, but who knows. We just have to wait for early July then.

And yeah you're right, releasing Giants and new Skylanders wouldn't make too much sense, but they could start gradually releasing remodels phasing out Series One stuff about a month before Giants is released.

their are 32 original skylanders, not 23.(unless it's a typo) and the 3 new skylanders are impossible to come to pass. the game isn't programmed for 3 new ones. as for the legendaries, i can't be to sure. they could be hidden and unknown to us protal masters, but for sure, THEIR WILL NOT BE ANY NEW SKYLANDERS BEFORE GIANTS!!! plus this probably go into the giants area

Jule: true they could release some new remodels, but not in July. That would be the stupidest thing to do. You don't have a lot of hype if you just release it three months before the game. I will PM you about the Gameinformer info.

Well, yeah. Doing this in July would be utterly stupid since there are still tons of people who need Wave 5 and even 4. If they were to do that they would have to pump out newer stuff to replace all of the Wave 1-3 stuff that just sits on shelves. When interest in original Skylanders starts to decrease, they could start shipping a few remodels to stores in late September/early October.

^ Now that is smart, but they won't really being them out until the release. They want to get rid of all the SSA figures entirely, so they will stop pumping SSA characters around early October. I would expect to see many wave 4 and 5 characters around that time. Then the day comes buy the skylanders and then all the stores do a promo buy 2 get thrid free and lower the prices on SSA skylanders.

Has Activison ever actually said they were going to completely stop making and selling Series One stuff? I don't recall them ever saying that, but since they're doing reposes I don't really see a reason for the not to discontinue the originals...

I didn't say this information was confirmed, or even that I believed it. I just wanted to give it the best chance I could despite the obvious lack of support. For the sake of argument, the employee was very informed about Skylanders as he has 37/37. I showed him Terrafin, Slam Bam, and a pic of Tree-Rex and he claimed that neither of those were the one he saw. I know it doesn't make any sense economically to release a new figure, and I know the game is not built for any new figures, but for the sake of argument and the slim chance it may exist, I'm just calling it like I see it.

Would not surprise me at all to see re-poses released ahead of Giants. The seeds have already been planted, because they're backwards-compatible anyway. So, what's to lose from going ahead with it? Get the kids and the collectors back on the hunt early. Keep the hook baited. It all makes perfect sense.

Personally I don't think any Skylander is going to be released before the giants release date. I don't feel activision will do it.

Mother of God. This is exactly what Acti would do. Why can't they see nobody needs their Wave 1-3 crap?!? They should be shipping cases with 4 Wave 4/5 figures and two from Waves 1-3, not the other way around!

I saw a comment on a youtube video from a person who claims to be an employee of toys r us saying by september a triple pack with something known as a "Burning Orange Spyro" and other new guys.

Burning Orange Spyro? Seriously? I think we had enough variants of Spyro thank you very much!

The thing is, all that excess "Wave 1-3 Crap" has already been created and mass-produced and is sitting in an Activision warehouse somewhere. Activision needs to push that merchandise out to the stores or they take a loss on it. So naturally, when the stores place their orders for Wave 5, Activision forces them to buy more of the early waves at the same time.


I wouldn't expect any new Skylanders before Giants. What would be the point? Even if they were part of the reposes supported by Giants, they wouldn't offer anything new NOW. And they're going to make their profits this summer by attracting brand-new players that still need to buy the tens of thousands of Wrecking Balls out there, not the very small minority that already own 30+ of the Skylanders.

We are not their target audience. The newbies are.

I don't really think there are all that many newbies at this point... the holidays were its peak and now that all the figures are releasedI would think less people will be buying who weren't planning to do so already.

Don't underestimate the power of summer vacation - the stores around me definitely aren't, as some of them have doubled their Skylanders displays both in terms of capacity and variety.

A large number of Skylanders will be purchased over the next two months, many no doubt from the carrot-and-stick "If you're good ALL DAY I'll buy you a new Skylander at the end" school of parenting.

If my parents had that parenting method I would have 84 shiny new Skylanders by the end of summer.

I'd say its a definite possibility that they'll have the new reposes leak out over the next few months. They're essentially the same figures in SSA, and you can use them in Universe, and..well they look pretty good sitting on a shelf. I bought Whirlwind a full week before I actually purchased the game, and I was fine not using it for anything until then.

I completed the 3DS version with the 3 characters that came with it and waited by the time I got around to getting the console starter pack I had 29 Skylanders. I couldn't do anything with them because I already completed the 3DS version, but that was fine with me because they looked awesome on my bookshelf.

K for those of you following the Red Drill Sergeant thread these "new" Skylanders may be a similar situation to what were hoping this variant is - snuck on the shelves by Activision taking us all by surprise when we see it on ebay. Again, I don't think this rumor is true, but I'm remaining optimistic just cause... Why not?!

i think it might me some new series 2 figures since they are able to play on the first game
