Was thinkin' and realized we are the beta generation of skylanders. Everything has been tested or will be tested on us. The marketing plans, the game play, the online universe. Activision and Toys for Bob have been listening to some of our complaints and ignoring others. Hey a few more skylander games and maybe the universe will be perfect with no lockdowns and glitches and maybe the consle games wont have a freakin cutscene for every small little thing that happens and the difficulty curb wont be on par with a three year old. On the other hand, maybe giants will crash the universe and the game will be glitched to hell in a hand basket and well be reduced to red light green light for every quote unqoute puzzle.
Any ideas for the pros and cons of the future-
Pros- buying skylanders from the website/more stock
- actually challenging moments of gameplay
Cons-portal issues, judging by how glitchy and spazzy the portal is on two player, the light up features and dual player for the giants is going to be quite painful

I definitely like the idea of being able to buy from the website-that would be excellent. Also, I think we should be able to skip all the cutscenes. They waste a lot of time. I hate the lock puzzles too-they are boring and sometimes take me ages to figure out.

Once this thread has some excellent ideas, perhaps it might make sence to email them all off to Toys For Bob/Activision and hope them implement them.
I for one would like to buy future figures directly too. Also a same day worldwide release (falling that no more than two weeks-a month) for figures. This would cut the eBay scalping market right out and maximise Activision profits. If older figures are not allowed level past 10 in Giants and are unable to gain new upgrades or if the current upgrades are nerfed in Giants, thus forcing the player to rebuy the reposes - that would suck.

Woah woah woah. You don't like the cutscenes at the end of the levels? Those cgi things are so cool. I really wish they'd have made all the things like that, just changed depending on what Skylander you had on the portal.
As with everyone else, if we're able to purchase figures directly from Activision or whatever, that would be amazing. Then for the most part, figures wouldn't be out of stock for a long time. Along with that, it'd be really nice to also purchase entire cases of the figures. I know a lot of other lines do that as well (Although, it's usually through a retail store), but it would at least give people a bigger chance at getting something, like a new figure (if the individual one is out of stock) and give them a shot at a variant.

An issue that is only going to become more prominent with this franchise is product assortment. The newer figures are always going to be more desired than the already released ones. The though of giants makes me cry because I envision store shelves FULLof the rereleased and reposed figures and the new ones (maybe with the exception of the giants because they will presumably be shipped seperately with different box ordering codes) simply not existing anywhere but e-bay. I see the new figures as becoming almost chase in value. It won't be long before stores stop ordering skylanders because their pegs are full of reposed Wrecking Balls and Boomers.
The concept of ordering and preordering figures directly from the producer eliminates this factor. Even if each figure is only available for a limited amount of time. The major thing the company needs to do is figure out how to provide the exact figures people want otherwise the franchise will choke on its own undesirable characters. I cannot see a fate other than this for giants. Activision needs to find away to distribute figures free of the assortment process. |

I think one of the easiest things they can do is make new boxes be filled with JUST new characters. I know some people will hop on anywhere, which means that when a store gets a shipment, half should be older figures and half should be new boxes filled with just the new figs. For instance, this whole Camo/Warnado debacle. Why not just put 3 Camo and 3 Warnado in a box? Why in the world would they put ONE in the box, when people have been asking about Camo (and to a lesser extent, Warnado) since before the game even came out? I mean, new figures coming out are just as bad as the variants. I'm sure most of them don't even get put out because employees snatch them right out of the boxes, or if they are put out, there's only a single one in the whole store..

I'm referring to those horrendous little cutscenes in the levels or heroic challenges such as in the arkeyan armory where it wants you to find the three minor vaults and has to show you exactly where it is or like voodoods challenge where each punk has its own little scene. I know this game is made for 8 year olds, but what they say and how it was implicated in the game shows otherwise. A three year old could play this game fine, Ive tested it out on my youngest god child. And even lets say shes just advance and not the norm a 5 year old could sail through this. The boss fights are admitedly tougher than the rest of the game but it seems such an odd scale. Considering this games was orginally going to have blood and such, I'm not sure if Toys for Bob and Activision realize that children for the most part do have a brain or at least a thinking compacity. The cliche of oh well at 8 I was playing blah blah blah, holds truth. Many older games had the difficulty of you either could or couldn't beat it, and if you couldn't go practice or play a different game then come back to the first. I'm not saying skylanders should have been killing skylanders every five seconds, but let the kids think. You dont need to say find a key then show them exactly where it is. If that keeps happeneing its gonna be boring and redundent. Find three switches to open the lock, what happens when you take out the find. Even the block puzzles have the hand holding aspect, by a ceertain point in the game I wasnt even bothering to solve the puzzles, it was simply oh this block can move and this one cant just shove all the ones that can move to the farthest point possible then hit the lever a few times and bingo automatic joy with no effort required, it seems kinda empty. |

Unless your Skylanders get hit with the "Level One Gun" and lose all the levels/heroic stat gains/abilities that they earned in the original game, that's going to be hard to do. They need to scale the game so that a new player can get through it with just the new starter set, so if you can bring over veteran characters the game will end up being EASIER than the first one. |
