But basically you can get money for them like any normal game at GS. You can get very little or alot (in retrospect) of money per figure.

Yeah, I'm familiar with Gamestop's trade-ins. I'm just curious how much they would give you for, say, a silver or gold, for instance. Not that many people would probably trade those in. It will be a good way to get doubles for the other upgrade path, too

It says up to 20, but heck, this is a company that pays the same for a loose finger-printy disc compared to a complete mint game.

I think it is a good idea to do that. Now you can get money for duplicates to buy new ones. Pretty good idea I say.

This is exactly what I heard. The recommended price point for "rare" figures and things like legendaries was $20. Regular figures would be less, but I don't remember if "less" was still more than what new figures cost. I think it's quite ridiculous actually. Game stores should not be selling at scalping prices. Used products definitely shouldn't cost more than a new version while the item is still in production, and even sold in the same store Also, it says the trade in rate is $2-$8, which means that they would be selling some(maybe all) for more than double profit(yes, I know you have to factor in what it takes to run a business, but they are still making a ridiculous profit). Gamestop is disgusting, but it's no surprise with their history. Activision can't stop scalpers, but they stop doing business with companies like Gamestop that take profit away from them, and drum up sour opinions for charging $20 for $8 toys. I know other companies have threatened to stop dealing with them in the past for their practices with used games, so maybe Activision will speak up on this.

I'm saddened at the lack of Gill Grunt love in this thread.

@Sunny Castanets: Gill Grunt is awesome, but there's really no need for an extra one...who in their right mind would bother with the Harpooner path when the Water Weaver path is soooo much better?

Anyone who goes into Gamestop thinking they're going to get $20 for a Skylanders figure is DELUSIONAL.

They'll give you 5 dollars MAXIMUM. They could give two crap whether you trade in to them or not because if you dont, the next dumb kid that comes in will. It says SELLING up to $20. That means they'll give you 5. They triple their profit on just about everything they buy used. It's honestly sad that people actually sell the gamestop.

The only thing i've ever sold to gamestop was a Nintendo DS light that I got from a Garage sale for 20 bucks and I traded up towards my 3DS (and got 50 bucks off) so I made out well.

Also, the stores are about to be over whelmed with every Skylander figure in a month now that they're all released they're going to pump em out ridiculously quick. Then they'll be buy for 2 and 3 and selling for for 8 (the original retail price until gamestop bumped it up to 9.99 like TRU...seriously what the heck gamestop...supply and demand scam).

Anyways dont buy from Gamestop, don't sell to gamestop everything they do is a huge rip-off. I just bought a Wii motion plus attachment last week from the for my wii controller for 17 bucks. I come home and on Amazon there's one for 12 NEW WITH THE SILICON SLEEVE for 12 dollars. And free shipping. I'm going to be going to gamestop today to return their used crap they ripped me off with.

Just an FYI, I got a used gill grunt and trigger happy today for .99 cents. They said they just reduced the prices. Non-starter pack characters...I think we're down to 4.49. They said this price change went into effect today....good opportunity for anyone looking for second upgrade paths or repaints!!

Earlier in the week my local Gamestop had legendary Spyro, Bash and Chop Chop reselling for $20 each. They must have figured out they were pushing their luck and reduced them to $8. With tons of legendary 3-packs still on Toys R Us shelves, Gamestop will have a hard time trying to get rid of them.

When they first came up with this Skylanders trade-in option I didn't care one way or the other since I would never sell my collection to them. But today I was able to get a second Trigger Happy in perfect condition for less than a dollar, so I'm not complaining.

I just noticed that the Electonic Boutique (EB Games) store I was in yesterday to get Diablo 3 had some 2nd hand figs in little plastic baggies.

EB is the Oz equivalent of Gamestop.

My GameStop doesn't even take or sell used Skylanders. What the heck is up with that? I have to go like 15-20 minutes just to reach one that does. Weird huh?

Because all of the ones I go to in my area only have a small shelf with Wave 1 and 2 stuff, and no used Skylanders. The reason I ask is because I read about people finding stuff like Wham Shell and Warnado at Gamestop... but all I find is Eruptor, Stump Smash and Drobot... thoughts?

I have a lot of GameStops in my area, some of them have almost no stock at all, one of them has like 100 of them. It's basically a roll of the dice. You might also want to check Walmart, Target, Best Buy or ToysRUs.

They get their shipments through UPS, so you need to ask. They can look up on the computer how many were shipped and when to expect them...BUT, they may not cough up the info so easily!! My store gets them on Fridays, as they put it...the company wants them to have fresh stock for the weekend.

Speaking of a lack of Gill Grunt love - I was at a Gamestop and they had a bunch of pre-owned Skylanders in baggies and most of them were priced at ~$8-9/each except for the GG's who were ~$3/each. I guess they are pretty common. Kind of the "Boomers of the sea"? (sorry Boomer fans...)

Ok I have to ask, does anyone get the GameStop weekly ads on their email? I am curious cuz I wanted to sign up for deals on skylanders and other things. I have signed up like four times until I emailed them and they said they put me in. When do you morally get them? I k ow its off topic but I had to ask.

For the most part, I've been seeing the starter pack guys at the Gamestops I've visited. As I think I showed before, the one I went to had them at $4.99 first.



Then I went back the next week and found them all at $2.99


And that's pretty much all they have everywhere, although the one closest to me had the Legendary figures, but they wanted a whopping $18 EACH for them. Someone must have dropped their collection off because they had a lot of S1-2 figs, all $8.99 which was just awful.

Honestly, if anyone sees them, I'd say you should pick them up. The 3 I got were all on high levels with some Heroic Challenges done, so they'd be great if you wanted to work on those, or really..for $2.99-$4.99, they'd make PERFECT dummys for painting or customization.

Figures price went down. Starter pack figures are $0.99 other figures are $4.99. I still dont know the price drop on legendary and adventure pack figures. Will update as soon as I know. Trade-in value went down to a $1.00 per figure or a bit more.

Hmm maybe i'll go search for a dark spyro then.

They are all in the computer...you can have them call a store that has it and have them ship it to your store. I did it a few weeks ago, but I paid $9 for it...dunno if they will work as hard for it with the price drop. I have another dark spyro supposedly on it's way...supposed to get it Monday. The first one was purchased for my nephew, but when we put it on our portal, it was level 7, and on a different attack path than ours. My 6 year old begged to keep it.

If there are people stupid enough to sell their Dark Spyro to GAMESTOP in the first place, they deserve to get ripped off.

They told me they give $2, for trade on dark spyro...can't imagine anyone parting with dark spyro for $2 bucks in their pocket!!! Lol. That trade amount was also prior to the sell price reduction!!!

I'm not sure...she just said when someone trades it in...they (meaning gamestop) give $2, and get $9 to resell it. Again, those numbers were tossed around prior to the price reduction.
