That is sad--gamers make great friends/dates/spouses. If you're always playing games, then she always knows where you are.

Unless you're out roaming the streets looking for new Skylanders figures, that is.

smilie

Seriously though, I know it's hard right now, but you truly are better off finding someone who is interested in you. Couples don't have to share every single interest in order to be compatible, though obviously some overlap would make things more fun. But she does have to respect you and your interests. The right girl will appreciate your hobby and respect you, even if she doesn't completely understand your obsession.

I posted a picture of my three gold Skylanders on facebook. She told me that she wants me just as a friend, but before that she was comparing us to Katniss and Peeta from the Hunger Games and she said she would give us a chance. I was absolutely shocked. I explained to her what they were for but she didn't care. Has this happened to anybody else?

You should have done the right thing and killed her so you could have been the sole champion of the hunger games!

Like everyone else has already said - She isn't worth it.

I know you won't, but don't hide what you like. There are girls out there who think Skylanders are cool and who are your age. It'd be impossible for there not to be. I'm 20 and met my boyfriend (who's 23) at an anime and gaming club. We have a lot in common and if he'd hidden his interests from me, I doubt we'd be dating.

And, of course, being gamers and geeks, we get excited over Skylanders and play all the time together.

Anyways, I'm sure there's a girl out there for you who doesn't get all weird over the fact you play Skylanders. I'm sorry this girl friend-zoned you, but at least you were able to see her true colors early on.

In short: Girls are weird. Don't let this one get you down. smilie

Don't worry about it Zook. Plenty of us gamer girls out there that appreciate a fellow gamer. Rather my husband be at home playing games, than out at a bar any day!

Does make me wonder, why in the heck to non gaming girls feel so threatened by a guy who likes to game? I always appreciated and welcomed the competition. *grins*

This is the saddest thing ive ever heard...

I'm 20, my girlfriend is 17. I started playing Skylanders just after we started dating (thats when it came out) and she's as addicted as me. She downloaded Cloud Patrol on her moms iPad and we played it for hours yesterday.

But I have the coolest girlfriend in the world. This girl sounds like a tool and doesn't seem like someone you would want to date anyways. Also, Facebook is the devil. You never post anything nerdy on Facebook, you post it on Tumblr. Facebook is only used frequently by complete tools.

Who cares? If she makes a big deal over that fact you play video games than it isn't worth it. Besides, when did video games determine your love life. I've met people who don't really enjoy video games who go out with others who do. She's not worth the trouble.

I don't think she's naive... she's just fickle and too image conscious. Dissing you because you posted about some toys, seriously? You're a backup plan man, move on. She's just playing with you.

I know nothing we tell you will change how you feel, but honestly plenty of fish and chicken in the sea. You'll see this eventually.

I'm a life long gamer, and am very lucky that my husband shares my passion. I haven't gotten crazy about collecting something in quite a long time, so Skylanders is something that we both can get excited about.

So, basically my point is if a girl doesn't like gaming or thinks your skylanders are nerdy... find another lady. It's 2012, and there are definitely lady gamers out there.

Things like this just isn't worth it. Trust me. I've been in the same relationship for almost 15 years, and NEVER have I ever told my husband he needed to do this or that, and he's never done that to me.

Relationships are all about trust and accepting one another, and its obvious she doesn't accept you for who you are and what you like. She's seriously not for you.
I'm pretty sure you can do alot better than this.

Things such as this only get worse over time, get out while you still can. I'm totally not telling you what to do either. Just some friendly advice on what I'd do smilie

Egad, dear think long and hard about this relationship. I ain't going to tell you what you need to do, it is ultimately up to you if you stay or go. But in my opinion, if I ever told my husband what he HAD to do or what he was GOING to do, I can guarantee you we wouldn't be married still.

Respect needs to go both ways in a relationship, and if it isn't cut out to be, then that is the way it is.

And this.

From what you told us, Zook, it sounds like she's rude and shallow. Someone like that isn't worth your time. Heck, if someone I was interested in had said that to me, it'd be a big cue that I need to start turning my attention elsewhere.

I've heard of other relationships starting off with "You need to go to the gym" and I've watched gamers become snob-ish, whipped boys.

Wow seriously, she is a bit stupid to reject someone based on a video game...

I mean, my boyfriend is 31, and he he often plays "Magik" (cardgame).

I can't say that I like this cardgame, but I'm interested each time that he shows me the last card he bought, ven though I'm unable to understand, and he listens each time that I buy a new Skylander and he helps me to get the three stars in the game. So a girl rejects you for playing a game. Who cares?
Just follow these steps and you'll be fine.
step 1: Forget it. No girl is "Worth it".
step 2: listen to step 1.
