I just finished resetting all my existing Skylanders to level 1. Time to work on those difficult Heroic Challenges. So, what I have planned to do is finish all the Speed Challenges (Trigger Happy, Ignitor, Stealth Elf, Drobot, Wrecking Ball and Double Trouble) first and then complete Zap and Slam Bam Challenges and those are the most difficult to do at higher levels right? Just want to make sure I have them all out of the way.

That's exactly what I do (well I don't have Slam Bam or Ignitor... yet) but don't worry about leveling them... level 10 makes them all a little easier just don't upgrade (or at least avoid upgrades that increase aoe damage, mutliple projectiles, bouncing projectiles or projectiles that go through enemies).

So I started with a level 1 Spyro and after completing the challenges I've mentioned in my last post, I'm currently at level 4. One thing that I don't think was mentioned and people might take for granted...when you level up, you tend to kill enemies immediately around you, so I almost failed Drobot's purple chompy challenge because of that, so that's one more thing you need to look out for. I really can't imagine being able to do that with a fully decked out Skylander. That Drobot one is definitely the worst challenge I've played by far.

I haven't seen anything hard about Slam Bams challenge, if you hit a wrong barrel you are just told it is the wrong color. The only other challenge that can be an issue if you have too much area damage is the evil spirits in the cat statues (Zaps Challenge). You don't get a lot of time to start with and destroying the pots around the cats takes 10 seconds off. To add to the challenge, the stupid Drow witches (the ones that throw the little yellow disks at you) can break the pots...
That being said, I think we are now at 25 Skylanders with 28/28 Heroic challenges (missing Ignitor still). The only 2 that I consider a challenge are the Purple Chompie (Drobot's) and 'you break it you buy it' (Double Trouble). Both of those can be a nightmare with the wrong people (or specific upgrade path). I highly suggest doing those with little to no upgrades for anyone that can upgrade to do wide ranged damage.

Cynder is such a nightmare on DT challenge. Even from the beginning she has a wide spread damage. Drobot's isn't the hardest one ever, but is still a challenge with people with exploding attacks.

Low level Gill Grunt on Drobot's challenge is pretty frustrating. His harpoon attack blows past multiple enemies as does his hose attack unless you only tap it. He's slow as heck with no upgrades. At least with Double Trouble's challenge, you can maneuver Gill Grunt so that his attack doesn't hit paintings/vases, but if you move too slowly on Drobot's challenge stage, Purple Chompies will latch on to you and suck your life away (removing them will cause them to die! Argh, aren't supposed to not be evil!?).

The challenge with gill grunt is actually not that hard if you choose the water weaver path. I did all the challenges so far (minus zook since i dont have him and the three that are not out) with fully leveled up gill grunt down the water weaver path. Just slowly use the harpoon attack and do not mash buttons and you will be fine. Also never use the water gun since it does wide spread damage.

Somewhat off topic, but still slightly relevant...
What is with the order of the Heroic Challenges? First and foremost I would have thought #1's would be Spyros... yet it is going to be one of the final 3 challenges made available. I'm normally not so OCD about stuff, but there is no rhyme or reason to how they ordered them... it isn't Alphabetical by title, skylander, element or stat... it drives me insane to think that the must have thrown every challenge into a hat and drawn them at random to determine the order. Does this drive anyone else nuts, or am I just crazy (if the latter I can blame this on my daughter ) And if any one is curious about the value of doing all current 29 heroic challenges: Armor: +27 Speed: +48 Critical Hit: +45 Elemental Power: +45 It makes a pretty huge difference in how your skylander performs

I was just saying all this to my husband yesterday! It makes no sense... It's not like it's even the order they programmed them into the game because again you'd have thought Spyro would be first... I even wondered if it might be alphabetical by the pre-release names (remember Stormee?) But that doesn't work either... *shrugs* There MUST be some sense in there... even if it's just some guy from Toys for Bob's "Who I like best" list...

Oh and I did Slam Bam's challenge on 16 characters today, including 13 fully upgraded... I have come to the conclusion that it doesn't need to be added to my "before upgrading" list, it's far easier than I thought (PS3... may be different on the Wii). I will be adding Ignitor (when he gets here... he's shipping from the US so it could be weeks) because the extra speed will surely help on Drobot's. Off-Topic: I have no idea why but every time I type Ignitor I typo it Ignotor and have to correct... seriously... I have some sort of weird blind spot for his name >.<

@Seewolfe78: So, I've been working on going through the challenges with all the characters recently and I remembered reading that someone was colorblind and couldn't do Slam Bam's challenge, so I was looking around to see who that was because I was going to offer to map out the colors in text form, but after reading carefully, I found out you're having trouble with Drobot's challenge which makes things a lot more difficult. ...I'll still try to map it out along with the path I take the next time I go through it, but because the Purple Chompies can chase you, it would make that challenge a lot more difficult.

Yep, this is why I started early on my heroics. Simple math tells you that 32 heroics x 37 figures x about 3 minutes each is going to take a while (~60 hours). And if you have to repeat any, which is inevitable at some point, you just tack on even more time.

If you really want a challenge, try Double Trouble's challenge with a fully upgraded Flameslinger down the Pyromancer upgrade path. It probably would have been quicker for me to reset Flameslinger and just redo all of them. I eventually got it, though. 31/32 of Flameslinger's challenges completed. Just waiting on my Wham-Shell I just ordered from gamestop to get here so I can get all 32!

I've started doing all the challenges on each skylander. It's taken me a long time, but I'm glad I didn't just leave them to the end when I have 32 Skylanders because that would be a royal pain.
Because I have the Wii version, Drobot's challenge was pretty easy for me, although I'll admit it was tricky with my fully upgraded Cynder because her little ghost ally kept getting the purple chompies. I actually find Zap's more difficult. |

Pyromancer's the flame trail, right? sadly, though, I can't - as a way of thanks for my sister paying about £10 towards the game, I let her have 'ownership' to 1 skylander of each element (i.e. getting to play as them, levelling them up, challenges except tough ones and upgrades. I've already done drobot's challenge for him before choosing paths) and she refuses to let me play as them. hers are ,,,,,, and . A bit of a shame, cuz slam bam looks very useful and fun to play as. btw I'm on the wii version.

Double Troubles heroic challenge can be done without using a single attack. If you use the anvil magic item, you can take out all 40 trolls without damaging anything.
I've got quite a few with all 32 done, but doubting I could do Sonic Boom with the purple chomps or cats. Guess I have to reset him

This took a whole lot longer than I originally thought it would. I replaced colors with shapes to help those who are colorblind. It can be very tricky because if your Skylander is the wrong color, you won't be able to use the portals, so you can end up stuck. Let me know if it needs improving and I'll work on it when I get the chance.

@Himewad: Yea, I never had any trouble with that challenge either, but then again, I can see color. Sadly, that map, as crude as it looks, took me way more time than I'd like to admit, but if it can even help one person, I've done good work.
I'd make a colorblind map for Drobot's Purple Chompy challenge too, but the fact that they can move makes it a bit more difficult and not easy to reference with a map. Twice now, I've barely squeaked by Drobot's challenge with Stump Smash and Flocked Stump Smash. Is he the slowest character in the game? I really don't look forward to using anyone slower for that challenge.

VERY easy challenge once you figure it out. Basically, all you need to know is this: When you are given the two teleporter options, one of the teleporters is centered on the TV screen. Choose that one every time.

So, for a newly reset level 1 Skylander, I discovered it takes between about an hour to an hour and a half give or take to go through all the Heroic Challenges for that one Skylander. I have quite a few done, but that's the first time I loosely timed it and I'm gonna have my work cut out for me if I'm going to finish all the Heroic Challenges for every Skylander.
I'm sure others will come forward saying they already know this, but I noticed that even on level 1, Zook's projectile attack causes a bit of splash damage. I ended up failing Double Trouble's challenge twice before I remembered something that could also help others with that challenge. You see...my portal is kinda on and off defective and so it'll occasionally read that I've removed my Skylander even though I haven't and then it'll read that it's back on and the game would continue. Anyways, I noticed that when the Skylander is placed back on the portal, it pushes enemies a short distance away from you, so if you're having trouble with having splash damage hit the paintings on Double Trouble's challenge, just position your Skylander between the painting and the enemy, remove your Skylander from the portal and then put it back on and it'll have pushed the enemy a decent distance away from the painting. Hope that info helps out those of you who are having trouble with Double Trouble's challenge.

Oh man, I just realized, the force push completely broke the challenge for Double Trouble's stage.
You don't even need to mess with the figure or portal at all. All you need to do is just position your character between the picture and the enemy and then view your stats quickly (back button on 360 or select on PS3, don't know if this works on the Wii) and then when you go back to the game, it'll give the enemy a push away from you and the picture. If you do this more than once, you won't even be anywhere near close to the picture anymore to accidentally hit it. I haven't tried it, since I don't need to play Drobot's stage anymore, but I'm sure you can do the same thing with Drobot's challenge to space out the Chompys when they group together in order to not accidentally hit the Purple Chompys.

Is there a way to give feedback to the designers of the game?
Because I did all the challenges on all my skylanders (have 19 right now). But not being able to skip the tekst of CALI makes me go insane if I play to much challenges. Also the "I didn't think you had it in Ya" is really annoying. Also the zoom in objectives that you cant speed up is a bad job from the game designers. Like the zooming in on the painting in Spyro's challenge when you kill the painting... I like repeatable content alot but they made repeatable content with very annoying cutscene's. |

LOL, just wanted to share, Flameslinger's Challenge, the one where you need to bomb walls and collect 25 charms, the announcer always says you're halfway there once you get your 6th charm. Total math-fail, but I thought it was pretty funny and wasn't sure if anyone mentioned it before.
@Sanctum Nomen: Not being able to skip the repetitive dialogue is the lamest part of playing Heroic Challenges, I agree. They should've really made an option to disable that or only force you to read all of it only on the first time playing. I don't know of a way to contact them, but hopefully they've caught on to this little annoyance for the sequel, I've seen it mentioned plenty often. @jstewie23: It's hard to say because I just don't know how skilled your child is. Age is not an accurate indicator of skill when it comes to video games. Your relative ease in a challenge could depend on a number of other factors too including which Skylander you're using in combination with which Heroic Challenge because even though I've played through almost all of the Heroic Challenges with every character, even I've had trouble with Trigger Happy's challenge occasionally...specifically against the tank at the end when using some of the low level, slower, close range characters. If I had to pick one, probably the easiest and most fun for a child would be Stump Smash's challenge? The only real challenge it poses is time running out. It involves primarily searching for keys in random barrels and opening doors while killing as many Chompies as you can.
