As the title says. It is plugged into the PS3. Any ideas?

My PS3 does weird things sometimes.... just last week it decided it didn't want to recognize any of the controllers anymore. I had to plug them all in to re-synch them.

probably worth a shot if nothing else.

You might also have to change the batteries in the portal. Mine will say the same thing every so often when the batteries are dead (or nearly so), including this past week when I had to change the batteries. Hope it's nothing more serious!

Wait, wouldn't it say something about the Portal being on? I don't know, I hadn't played it much since Christmas until a couple of days ago, so it hasn't even needed new batteries. So, do you think that's it?

I'm off. See you all tomorrow!

There is a little receiver in the battery compartment that gets plugged into the USB port on the ps3. It's real small in there.

Did you try turning off the system and turning it back on?

It seems to recognize the portal interface before you even start up the game.

I'm thinking it could be, because the last time I had to change the batteries, I got this exact message (again), and my portal was actually still on. I played with turning it off and on again for a few minutes until it finally quit coming on--my clue that it was most likely the batteries. Depending on how much you've played it since Xmas (even if it were only on a few occasions), you might just need a fresh set of AA's to get things going again. Hope you get it fixed!

I think the red light on the porton 'on button' flashes as the batteries get low (please correct me if I am wrong).

All I know is that I have had to recharge batteries in the portal a lot. I am glad I have a lot of rechargables so that I can just keep swapping out and recharging whenever I need to.

If you don't have any luck with any of this, call Activision Customer Support. I went through the same thing a couple of months ago. It turned out that my Portal was actually busted and I had to send it out and wait for a new one to be sent back to me. It sucks, but unfortunately it happens.

I have the PS3 version, by the way.

Thanks everyone. I've already used the USB, because I've already played it. I'm getting new Batteries and Skylanders later so I'll try it then. I'll let you all know. Thanks again everyone!
