I have a question about the 3DS version of the game that is haveing issues right now. The game has been playing fine. My son has been playing for about a week now. We have several characters leveled up on the Wii version of the game, but he just got the 3ds for easter and has been playing it all week. The problem is, now he has zook and stump smash in the game. They both appear in the cyrstals at the bottom of the screen. When he starts the game and goes to the sanctuary to switch them out, it will not do it for some reason. It says to turn the portal on, which we do. They place the toy on which we do. The timer counts down to sync, then it shows him throw the crystal in the top screen, but it never appears in the bottom screen and the top screen just shows a spining vortex of blue and green swirls kind of like a portal hurricane... thats the best way I can describe it and this continues forever. You cant stop anything or do anything. The only thing I can do is hit home on the DS, then end the game. If I start it up again, same thing. I can play the missions with zook and SS, but I cant change anyone out. It will do this with no matter who I try. Has anyone have this happen... and more importantly, how do I fix this? It was working great for about a week. Not sure what is wrong... Wii version works fine....
Any help would be appreciated...

Do you have the 3DS facing the part of the portal that has the sensor on it? Took me a while to figure out how to get it to work myself, the top of your system has to be aimed at the little red sensor on the side of the portal.
Anything else and I'd have to say maybe a defective portal and you'll have to contact Activision? Hopefully someone else can give you better advice than me.

No, nothing like that... Its just weird. The batteries we used are the ones that came with the game... maybe that is it. I will try that. They have only been in a week and the DS doesnt use the battaries that much.. just when you turn it on and sync a character. Then it shuts off... I cant believe they are dead already... He hasnt even played the DS that much (hes 6). I will try it though... who knows how long its been in the box waiting....
All characters work fine on the Wii and zook and stump smash are working in the ds game, I just cant change them out anymore... I use to be able too... I will try the battery thing... I hope thats it, because that is an easy fix....

You are right... that did fix it. Weird because it still lit up and would pair the guy to the DS, the timer would count down then it was just give that spinning portal vortex and you couldnt do anything else but hit the home button and get out the game... its all working now, thanks for all the help... glad it was an easy fix... back to playing...

I'm glad the batteries fixed the problem! This quote is a little weird, i was trying to look at your issue before i saw that batteries had fixed the problem. Just to curb my curiosity: I'm guessing that after the timer hit 0, the camera would zoom into the crystal and then it would stay there? You mentioned that he throws the crystal back, but that doesn't happen until after you get out of the swirly area so he wasn't throwing it back right? It's really fascinating to me that it got to the inside of the crystal because at this point it should be done with the portal communication (it shouldn't zoom into the crystal until all of the portal data has been received!). perhaps you were at just the right about of battery power to fail at transferring the data in just the right way that the game tried to load some random thing that doesn't exist! As far as I remember, the game should also be displaying a message about the battery power when it gets low, was that not showing up either? |
