Anyone else find it annoying how some of these "Call of Duty" or "Skyrim" playing adults can find it perfectly acceptable to play Lego games or Plants vs. Zombies but are stuck on Skylanders as being a kids-only game that they are to embarassed to play?

I play those games (Skyrim, etc..) myself but I just don't care what other people think when it comes to games, they are either fun or not fun. Skylanders is a fun game. I guess all these Skylanders with their knives, guns, fire and swords aren't violent enough to be enjoyed by anyone over 8 years old... but when Mario comes out with his one puny fireball and his hard head it's worth them buying a whole console for it... I just don't get it... I would say it's because of the SKylanders "Toys" but then again, tney have figurines for WOW and other games... notice how they are called figurines but skylanders are toys?

My dad has the opinion that Pokemon is for kids, and that kids would understand everything in the game, including the whole EV, IV thing, refusing to understand the whole competitive side of it

As an adult who was already eighteen or nineteen when Pokemon first came out, I've never cared much about perceptions in terms of games. If it's fun, it's fun. This game is not only fun, but has the added benefit of being one that my step-son really enjoys, and my wife enjoys, too.

I could care less if other (most likely teenage) video gamers think games like this are for children only - they're ignorant for not giving it a shot before spouting off about it, and ultimately they're the ones losing out on having fun.

I wish my husband liked Skylanders... he's playing CoD MW3 right now...

I did get him to help me out once when I was stuck and we've had a few rounds of pvp but he got bored because I was better than him >.<

Im 20 now. Pokemon came out when I was very young and i've been playing it since day one. I still dont understand the EV, IV thing...all I do is level up and kick butt.

i'm 31. i laughed at this game just like i laughed at pokemon. but here i am with 20+ single packs, all 4 adventure packs, and a wife who gives me funny looks now.

The problem with the so called "adult" or "hardcore" gamers is that they do not want to spend on the toy figures just to unlock content within the game. They are treating it as the hated DLC but can't seem to understand value of the relationship of the toy and the video game in this franchise. I guess most of the hardcore gamers have been burned with poor and costly DLC models that they think and believe that it will never work but somehow Activision made it work. The cost is also a big issue because you can buy a toy based on a video game and that is the end of it. While the toy in this particular model, is part of the video game so they always think that you are "required" to get all of them to experience the game in full. Although we all know that is not the case.

The funny thing is the scenario is reversed with toy collectors. Buying these toys is just part of the hobby of collecting and the fact that they work with the video game is a big plus. Not only can you collect and play with the toy, you can actually use in the video game.

Also a lot of the so called "hardcore" gamers are forgetting that some people play video games because they are fun and want to have fun. Skylanders has a lot of the "fun" element to it which a lot of "hardcore" games think is no longer a key feature of most modern video games.

I just turned 40 this year and am not ashamed that I play Skylanders. That said, I do always call them figurines...

35...love the toys. Converted my twin bro into playing it with his kid. He digs the figures now too. And he said he'd be able to play the game on his own, even if his son won't play till he's a bit older. I myself haven't played all that much, but I love the figures. I hope that the future will bring more complexity. I'd love to see more depth and more stats and maybe armor beyond hats. This is like WoW for kids. If they did a Skylanders MMORPG, I'd be all over it. But that might be challenging to make it playable for kids. If it was a pay to play style...with microtransactions I'd be up for it. But looting for gear for my characters would be sweet. Hmm...back to the point we are talking about. I find it easier to sit on the couch playing Skylanders over Skyrim...simply because I can accomplish a ton more in a short amount of time. Skyrim makes me feel like all I accomplished in an hour was sell some crap, and do maybe 1-2 quests. It is a pretty game though. I give them that... So much to play....so much to play...gah. And I love MW3. But I still rage quit far too often from the 10 prestige hackers who just pwn my face. It has started to be less and less fun.

i would like to add that today's "hardcore gamers" are a joke. you're not hardcore unless you've played Pitfall & Combat on a black & white tv, spent hours with a blinking NES, entering in Game Genie codes, and strained your eyes on the original GameBoy playing Tetris with a friend or relative using the 3-foot link cable. wireless? HA!

I almost qualify then, All except for the black and white TV part... but I also owned a Colecovision and the Coleco Adam computer so that might help

I play BF3 & MW3 (no good by the way ) and I am 34 , BUT , I have bought all the skylanders for my son (7) , I love the hunt for them, I got zook and LR for the USA last week as my sister was there and brought them back . For me it is about finding them and seeing the smile on his face when he gets one , We give them to him for doing well at things and trying hard at school and sports also lend them to the tooth fairy as well . I still have all the legendarys in the closet and 2 (3) packs + zook & LR as well to give him lol

I do remember those days , I still have the original GB and NES in the crawlspace

Most adults like skylanders and will admit it. Its very similar to diablo. The people you are referring to have to be between the ages of 18-25. They probably play too they just care to mich what others think. U dont have to be lile everyone else. Be yourself. If u like it then admit it. Im sure they like things that u dont. Nobody cares to admit it unless they r immature or trying really hard to fit in with others. Im 28 and love it.

I'm an adult gamer, and married to another adult gamer. Our favorite games of 2011 included Uncharted 3, Skyrim, the Ico/Shadow collection, and... Skylanders. Neither of us is ashamed to like and enjoy this game, and like it we do--perhaps more than our son does. Many of the employees we talk to while looking for figures like the game as much as we do. It's really nothing to be ashamed of. Away from the game, I'm a doctoral student in reading education, and my spouse is a music teacher. We're about as adult as one can be away from the game, but love it anyway. It has appeal that knows no age. Don't be fooled by the exterior.

I'm an adult (19) and I can safely say that I would never act like that. Usually I see alot of immature kids in their early teens hating on other games (and as a member of the Pokemon fandom, I see this ALOT) who play MW3. Personally I think harrasing someone else about the kinds of games they play is a sign of immaturity.

You are only young once, but you can be immature for the rest of your life...

But seriously, I am a responsible adult when I have to be (which is most of the time), just because I muck around with a "kid's" game does not detract from that.

34 and play it with my 10-year old son. Being all "macho" and not playing because you label it a kids game is lame. Kids just want to spend time with their parents, and this is a great way to do it. We've had fun trying to find and collect all of the figures together, as well as figuring out the levels, challenges, etc.
