I just wondered if anybody hates spyro. It seems as if nobody hates him. (Also, please don't comment me.)

I feel he is one of the more powerful characters. It's a shame they had to shoehorn him into the game, as this is clearly not a Spyro game.

Spyro is the only character I plan to complete all the challenges with.

LoS was clearly not a Spyro game and look where that went. A full trilogy loved by many despite its stark differences to the classic series.

Just because a Spyro game isn't like the Spyro games before doesn't' make it a Spyro game. Besides if you loved the classic Spyro trilogy, then I'd recommend the platforming orientated 3DS version and then say Skylanders is not a Spyro game.

I think that was more a comment about "Spyro doesn't have a central role". Hes just name dropped as he is because its a brand association. People don't know Skylanders, but they DO know Spyro. But its an entirely different game where I've yet to see any backstory for any of the Skylanders I have (Except in Lore tablets on the Universe)... so its not like Spyro takes any central role in the story at all! Hes just a replaceable character within the game, even if he crops up in numerous Skylander backstories. TLOS, while not classic Spyro, were still Spyro games because they featured him as a main and central character. If you took Spyro out of Skylanders, nothing changes and nothing major to the game itself falls apart.
I'd like to say the tactic worked though. I know I wouldn't have Skylanders if it weren't associated with Spyro.


As for character wise? I like Spyro. He seems a good character to me and easy enough to play. Plus, he does get bonus points from me for being a dragon PX (And I'm not including nostalgia into this, considering this Spyro isn't quite the same)

I don't hate Spyro, but I don't use him during the game because IMO I think hes weak.

I love Spyro. He's my go too guy. I have Legendary and Regular at level 10, as well as Cynder at level 10. They're my only level 10s. Whirlwind and Sonic Boom come in close but they're not quite at level 10 yet.

I think the funny part is that they used Spyro for the recognition of the game factor, yet it's a kids game, and most kids playing the game have no idea who Spyro was before Skylanders, nor do they care about him now. In fact, most people probably don't even realize the game is subtitled Spyros Adventure.

Well, I grew up playing spyro, and I bought this game in the first place cause I thought I was a spyro game. And yes I was disappointed cause it's nothing like spyro. And the re did him and he looks ugly. But it turned out to be a good game. And spyro is one of the best ones in the game. I play him a lot. It would of been cool if they made some of the other skylanders other spyro chapters and really make it a spyro game. But it's fine, there are plenty other good games that isn't spyro. But they really shouldn't stuck his name in the title. I know a lot of people that was really disappointed. Just like final fantasy when they did final fantasy tactics. Big disappointment.

I played the earlier Spryo games (PS2) and loved him. Those games were great, and he is so cool. With that said, I agree with the comment about him being a "drop in" for name recognition. This is the only Spyro game I've seen, that doesn't have a story line that involves him personally. He is great, but I don't play him that often. The problem is that there are soooo many characters to choose from and (to be honest) a lot of the others are more useful, faster and more powerful. The fact that I don't play him often doesn't mean I don't like him, and I certainly don't hate him.....

They honestly shouldn't have put his name in the title. Cause it was a good game and people would have caught on. Most people that do play this game are kids that are 13 and younger that has no clue who spyro is. So it had nothing to do with them playing it. Now the young adults and older teens playing it, it most likely did get us playing. Speaking for myself, I'm 20 and the reason I started playing was cause I thought it was a spyro game.

i love spyro. but half the time i forgot the subtitle is spyros adventure. i never got this game because of spyro.

I love Spyro and that's the original reason I got the game. To play a new game with Spyro in it. He's not my favorite character, but he's fun to play as.

Well, this is a Spyro fansite, I shouldn't think we have Spyro haters here ;)

I don't hate Spyro but I will use Voodude or Double Trouble any day over Spyro.

I don't really like Spyro. I've never played any of his games and I honestly don't care to. I haven't really explored among the mascot platformer games... Mario was more than enough for me (and I enjoy me some Rayman Origins). As for the more obscure characters out there, I prefer Earthworm Jim.

Because (and I honestly can't believe I have to explain this) Skylanders is it's own game that has Spyro as a character. Numerous people even here say that Skylanders pretty much shoehorned Spyro into the game (and I feel exactly the same way), yet you have no idea why I am posting in a Skylanders forum that happens to be on a Spyro website? More than this I simply don't know what to tell you...

This is a spyro fan website, and there are other fan sites for just skylanders. People that aren't spyro fans should be on a spyro website

So you are telling me "I shouldn't be here?" lol. I'm sure you are in the minority on that one. And by the way, there are not very many skylanders sites out there, and when I searched the internet for Skylanders messageboards this was the #1 result of that search. I've been here quite some time and NO ONE has said (or probably feels) "you shouldn't be here if you don't like Spyro." Don't get your panties in a bunch.

I've never really been into Spyro games in the past, but I think Skylanders is incredibly enjoyable.

Try some of the others, there better.

I looked at a bunch of videos of other games in the Spyro series...they're just not my thing. I will be more receptive if they release a new Spyro game though, but for now I guess you can say I'm definitely a fan of Skylanders and not of Spyro.

I liked FF Tactics, but I was a huge fan of the Ogre battle series which had some similarities.

As for Spyro, I love the series and wasn't dispappointed that they used him to sell this game... my issue is that they made him so abysmally average that most other skylanders outshine him. My daughter loves playing him though, so he'll always have a place on the portal lol.

Spyro is actually a lot better then a lot of the skylanders in the game, it's just that his powers are normal while others are a lot cooler. The main skylanders I play with is spyro, zap, sonic boom, and sunburn

TLoS was a Spyro game. If it wasn't it wouldn't have him on the front of the box, his name in the title and you wouldn't be playing as him

It's not really a spyro game, play his old games then say that. If u do it would be a lie. It has no dirct story about spyro. And they call all of them skylanders in the game. Not spyro, or any other name. It doesn't have hunter or any other original chacter from the other games. Don't get me wrong I like skylanders, but no where as much as I like spyro. Honestly it was a big disappointment. Specially since I was expecting a true spyro game.

I meant that in response to the person I was quoting in saying Skylanders isn't a "Spyro" game by his definition. Skylanders is just as much a Spyro game as TLoS is, however different from the previous franchise it is.

I find this all amusing since the 3DS version of Skylanders is SO MUCH like classic Spyro.

Can you imagine how classic Spyro fans felt when TLoS was announced and revealed? How a cutesy and fun platforming franchise suddenly is going down a more serious and gritty action route and how it had no direct story to the original series? This is the same thing. It's a reboot. While there may be some references in character and name to the previous itteration, it's a totally separate thing, in both story and gameplay.

And yes, it does have some original characters from the classic trilogy. It has Sparx and Moneybags. Though the latter was renamed.

yeah i hate him very much. just play against him and tell me he's a fun enemy

With the popularity of the Skylanders game, I'm not at all surprised that there are many people who are members here that haven't played any of the early Spryo games. For those of us that have, Spryo is special. For the newbies to Spyro, he is just a character in this game that is not particularly strong, fast or powerful. I understand why they wouldn't "get" the love for Spyro. I would encourage them to get a true Spryo game and play it. They are great games, and you would feel the connection with him that the others of us do. Instead of clicking on FORUMS at the top of the page, click on GAMES which will give you a detailed listing of the previous Spyro games that are available. He is GREAT, even if he doesn't get the role that he deserves in this game.

i think that hating spyro in general and hating spyro the skylander are two differente things.

The original Spyro and Legend of Spyro game series aren't my thing. I like Skylanders a lot though and I like Spyro the character enough to have 3 version of him. Regular, Dark and Legendary!
