Just like the title says, is it possible? I'm tired of charging batteries. Has anyone figured a way with a transformer or something to just plug it in for power? I think it should have been made either way batteries for cordless or have a plug in when your batteries die. Nothing worse than getting halfway thru a level and the batteries go dead...

Yes, it's possible. Search some old threads and you can see how it was done.

I believe this guy MacGyver'd his portal. I don't know if you have a Wii or not, but the 3DS portal can be plugged into the console which is pretty neat and goes around the battery thing.

Why did Uncle Peter have an interdimentional portal in his attic?

Thanks for the info, I tried doing a search first...A trip to Radio Shack may be in order, I don't have anything around hear that takes 3 batteries. It would be nice to find something that would fit in the bottom where the batteries go that had a cord and a 4.5 V transformer attatched so no soldering or disassembly would be required.

So true... especially when attempting the Trophy for not switching during the final Kaos battle... I was right at the very end and after replacing the batteries it took 30 seconds to finish but a disconnecting portal counts as a switch even though I used the same Skylander all the way through.

That said I would much rather use rechargable batteries than alter my portal... I like my things to be as the factory made them, but that's just me.

The 3DS portal does sound like a viable option, apparently it works with all consoles as long as it is plugged in before you launch the game... and you can fit 2 characters and a magic item on them at the same time:

you can fit more than one character on the portal as i have fit 2 characters + an item you just gotta hang the characters a little off the side.

and here is how you do it

I have the XBox version too - and am buying the PS3 version today as well. (Sick of the arguing!). Can I use the XBox portal with the PS3? That way when the kids are playing sports or something on XBox the other kids can Play on the PS3.

Adding a power adapter would be simple, just make sure you get the correct voltage, each battery is 1.5 volts.

I honestly forget how many batteries are in the portal because I have only changed them once. I think some of you guys have bad portals or are using cheap batteries because mine last for months. I'd never switch to having to use a wire.

Also... if you add a power adapter make sure you don't ever put batteries in it at the same time or you will damage the portal.

I just checked my cell phone charger, 4.8V. I don't think .3V is enough to worry about. I think I have an extra somewhere just clip off the connector add some spades and put some dummy batteries in and try to put them in where the batteries are going off the pics in the McGuyver link?

Here is a voltage calculator, using 2 resistors and you can drop 5 volts or higher to 4.5 volts... also make sure your resistors have high enough wattage...

http://www.raltron.com/cust/tools/voltage_divider.asp

look here to determine the wattage (power) you need the resistors to be http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/2047633
