I kind of think that a lot of them were probably snatched up by executive's/designer's kids, and the rest are being held onto for demonstration purposes. Maybe one day will see them though. I personally wouldn't buy them if they are just prototypes of Skylanders we already have, but like JAP28, I'd really like an Arbo figure. I adore that guy's design.

But I would love Arbo to be a Skylander also... but he isn't and I doubt he ever will be.

I know it is not going to happen but he could always gain some powers and get promoted.

tfb have said they already had many plans for new skylanders after they was finished with the first game. why make so many of a figurine and this detailed, if your not gonna sell it, these prototypes cost a lot to make... take a look at the base it is orange, like the new figures of giant. so arbo is coming, i have no doubt about it.

It would be cool if some of those non playable Characters showed up in Giants, but do not really think they are Skylanders.

Kappa, there is a difference between the prototypes and final concept designs for characters in the gaming industry. The picture here shows Arbo on a flower pedestal but it was for character design and concept that never made it to the final part of development for the Skylanders. Just because Arbo has a detailed pedestal here (that is WAY different than the final version of the Life pedestals the Life Skylanders stand on), it doesn't mean he's going to be a future Skylander when he obviously wasn't one in Spyro's Adventure.

Heck, the flower pedestal Arbo is standing isn't even made out of leaves like the other official Life Skylanders, including the Life giant, Tree Rex, which hints that the design you're fully convinced about that you think is the final concept was just an early concept of Arbo.

I mean, if Flynn was originally going to be a Skylander in Spyro's Adventure and concept art was posted of him standing on a cloud pedestal, but he was later turned into an NPC character, would you be fully convinced that he's going to be a playable skylander in future games without looking at the final and early versions of his character development?

Arbo will most likely be in Skylanders: Giants, but not as a Skylander.

I know. I'm just saying if he WERE released as a figure, I would probably buy him. Even if he weren't playable in the game. Doubt I would buy any other NPC's though.

It's common for concept artists in the video game world(CGI animators for films also do it) to sculpt out characters/parts as a part of development, even if they may end up out of the game entirely or only play a small part. Making physical models makes it easier to then render them with 3D software, since there is less interpretation that needs to be done. They don't cost a lot to make at all, but it does take time(I guess you could argue time equals money). Arbo, last I heard, was intended to be a life Skylander, and so I-Wei Huang made prototypes of him, but things changed, and instead he was put into the story. He is not a giant, and won't be one, at least not in the next game. We already know the life giant. We can hope they release him as a regular figure along with the release of Giants, but I see it as very unlikely.

remember this a concept. The beta wind pedestal(see wrecking ball) wasn't even a cloud. Do this means that the beta wrecking ball we saw isn't a skylanders because his pedestal isn't like the actual air element?

The early version of Wrecking Ball hinted that he was originally going to be an Air Skylander due to the early version of his Air pedestal being a small tornado.
