I have the PS3 version of the game and I have been told that the Xbox 360 achievements are the same as the trophies in the PS3 version so I thought I'd make this thread to get some help for me and anyone else who is having trouble with any of the trophies/achievements in this game.

I have just 5 trophies left to get:

Phew! That was Close! - In the Leviathan Lagoon level, dodge 30 sharks without being hit.
Call Me Fireman! - Defeat Kaos' Evil minions in the Lava Lakes Railway level with only Gill Grunt's Power Hose.
Tag me if you can! - Avoid being hit by the laser traps during thr boss fight in the Creepy Citadel level.
One for All! - Defeat Kaos without swapping Skylanders during the battle.

And obviously:

True Portal Master - Unlock all other trophies.

The first trophy I'd like answers about is: Phew! That was Close!

It seems like it shouldn't be too difficult but after a few tries with various Skylanders I have a couple of queries:

Say I dodge the sharks 30 times in a row without being hit between dodges, is it okay to get hit after/before the run of 30? Or can I not get hit at all by any shark during the whole attempt?

Does the trophy show up after the 30th dodge or at the very end of the level?

Which Skylander have people done this with?

It would help if people specified which version they are using so as to avoid confusion arising from minor differences between versions.

I need all of those except "one for all". I did some of the heroic challenges to get his armor & critical hit up mostly and used the Santa hat (his armor rating is pretty low) and it was actually pretty easy after that. Is helps if you have the adventure pack items.

I would assume that the trophy would appear after the 30th since that is usually how trophies are distributed (after the achievement is registered and recognized).

Well that's what I thought, but seeing as how I don't know if it matters if you get hit after the 30th dodge or not I'd like to know for sure because it would pretty much prove it one way or another.

The short answers!

• I got hit between dodges, and received the trophy
  
• I managed all 30 in the first wave of sharks, so the trophy shows up after the 30th shark, not at the end of the level
  
• I used Terrafin
  

I gained this trophy (on PS3, since it's a trophy) using Terrafin, mainly because I could stay underground most of the time, which is a really easy way to dodge. I definitely got hit between dodges as well.

To be honest, I lost count, but I definitely dodged more than 30 sharks because I received the trophy, and then continued to dodge (and get hit). I received the trophy during the first wave of sharks, so I quit the level shortly after.

Trophies tend to be delayed, up to maybe 45 seconds in my experience (in comparison to Achievements, which are pretty instant). Because of this, I can't say for sure when I specifically received it, but I definitely didn't have to wait for the end of the level.

for all of those achievements I used a fully upgraded Gill grunt with his hose ability
Sharks When the sharks are in two straight colums go to one and just stand there gaining health when you gain health it means you dodged one and soon it should pop up
Call me fireman/ one for all was i just blasted them with water and hit the fire fish at him so he had a ton of damage
For the Citidel, It was hard to go through it but i used GG firehose jetpack and dodge the laser

I upgraded my Gill Grunt down the Harpooner path which I do really like but I suspect I will need to reset him and try Water Weaver for that trophy. Lots of people say it's the better path but I just haven't been able to bring myself to reset the little guy...

Dodge ball. Does anybody know how to get this? Its like impossible. I killed Him
when four are on but theirs never five!!!!
Theirs also a trophy that if you get eaten by the levithian 5 times another trophy.

This one was very difficult for me, and then I figured out a pretty easy way to get it. The biggest key is patience. /cliche

Play as a character with a strong projectile, like Drobot or Trigger Happy. When Evil Stumpy is out and about, shoot him until he has barely any health left. Now, run around, and wait for the magical moment when five acorns are on the screen, and shoot him until he dies, which should be only a couple of shots.

There’s no good measurable way to figure out how many acorns are going to be shot out, so it’s kind of a gamble, but after trying by conventional attacking well over 10 times, I received this trophy pretty easily using this method.

This one was also tricky, but I found the best Skylander for this was Cynder, with her ghost warp path fully upgraded. You can sort of zip through the lasers using this move and avoid them pretty easily. If you don’t have Cynder, using Terrafin’s burrowing move (once again, a life save) could also be a safe bet.

I’m working on leveling up enough to kill Kaos without switching. I think it’s going to be a while before that one! Items (healing elixir, ghost pirate swords, etc.) should be helpful as well. Then I’ll be done with trophies!

I just finished the "cheevs" for this game a few days ago.

Yes, I reset my Gillie re-leveled him to be a water guru - it only took 20 minutes, or so.

Dodge ball was problemattic but I found that he releases in 3's - I always managed to get nicked by one so then had to wait for the next 3. I tried many times as I often got nicked by another just as I dealt the killing blow.

As for Kaos, my lvl 10 Stealth Elf was my friend for that achievement.

WHen your using power hose and press X to shoot the sea ceatures does that still count as the power hose?

Yes but I urge caution.

If your attack gets interrupted and the X then gets treated as a harpoon attack and it hurts the minions, then all of your work is ruined.

I recommend just doing water and leaning on the safe side.

I got the last few trophies a few days ago. It was a pretty easy game to 'Platinum'.

Terrafin, just go underground. You gain the hp too.

Thanks for the help everyone, just got Phew! That was Close! It was actually pretty easy, don't know why it took me 6 tries now >.< I think I made a mistake trying to use faster Skylanders for this when they were harder to control as time slowed down and sped up. Terrafin ftw!

I think I'm going to go for Tag me if you can! next, I've already tried Terrafin for this but he kept popping out of the ground at the wrong time right into the lasers >.< I don't have Cynder (she's not out in my country yet) so I'll just try a few more times with Terrafin... I'm really not looking forward to reseting my Gill Grunt because despite what everyone says I do like Harpooner...

Pop Terrafin out yourself when you can so he does not pop up automatically at a less convenient time.

I didn't want to reset my Gillie but bit the bullet. I may well reset him again to put him back to harpooner as I reckon he's more fun that way (personal opinion, of course). Worst case scenario, I lost about 1 hour of my life resetting him twice to get the cheev.

I got to the end and thought "Why not have a quick try at One for All!?" So I popped Stealth Elf on the portal and walked into the floaty platform thing that takes you to Kaos...

I was having a really good run, Pook Blade Stealth Elf is a force to be reckoned with, and I was on the last part when... "Can't find the Portal of Power." I almost screamed... the batteries had run out and I knew that this would count as switching. After I replaced the batteries it took about 30 seconds to kick Kaos' butt but of course no trophy

Grrr!

Oh well, at least I know I can do it now...

How upgraded is your Stealth Elf? As in, heroic challenges? I may have to do a run with mine later, in that case...

Level 10, all upgrades along the Pook Blade Saint path and she's done all 7 of the heroic challenges I currently have access to: 3x +5 Critical Hit, 3x +8 Speed and 1x +3 Armour. She was wearing the Crown of Light halo hat.

Edit: Now my Gill Grunt is level 10 and fully upgraded along the Water Weaver path I've had like 6 tries at Lava Lakes Railway and each time he dies during the boss fight... seriously... oh wait just remembered I haven't done all his heroic challenges... durrrr >.< Better go do them!

Interesting... these aren't in the wii version. I wonder why that is?

The Wii doesn't have a trophy/achievement system... which is actually one of the reasons I traded the Wii version of Skylanders for the PS3 one.

If it helps I did both of these cheevs with Stealth Elf and Gill Grunt at level 10 but no Heroics and not all upgrades.

And, yes, I bought the Xbox version and did the game all over again just for the achievements!

I actually noticed a few things that can be helpful for predicting his behavior.

1) A green glow in front of him indicates the single, larger acorn is coming, and it always heads straight away from him.
2) A red glow indicates two smaller acorns, which both travel away from him at an angle. (I might have the colors mixed up, but they definitely both signal different attacks.)
3) He always alternates these attacks. If the last thing he did was summon a big acorn, his next attack will be the smaller acorns, and vice versa.
4) Every time he generates the big acorn, the previous big acorn disappears, but the little acorns stick around until you shoot them or they hit you.

Okay so a level 10 Gill Grunt, fully upgraded down the Water Weaver path with 3x +5 Critical Hit, 3x +8 Speed and 1x +3 Armour heroics wearing the Wabbit Ears hat seriously cannot do this... I've tried 4 times now, I know that's not that many but I really can't see how I can do it. Evil Flameslinger usually hurts me so much I often die to evil Sunburn... if I don't die to evil Sunburn I can usually take out evil Eruptor without too much trouble but I'm so low on health by then that I can barely touch any of the minions in the last round before I die

I have been removing Gill for the fire spell rounds when I don't have to kill anything to save accidental damage and sometimes the food randomly despawns during cutscenes so I can't always heal

Edit: I killed them all with just the hose attack but I didn't get the trophy because Kaos' fire spells killed 2 of the minions in the last round :'( How is that even possible? Is it a glitch?

@deandria Ok do you have any defense hats and try using the jetpack and the hose at the same time releasing neptune gun ability those count as your hose still

I also removed Gillie for the fire spells but I hung around for a moment to get the food before removing him.

Also remember that expansion pack items can be your friend - healing, extra armour, slowing down time to smite the enemies before they can have a go at you...

Wabbit Ears, the hat he's using, is +12 armor (and +5 speed) I could get a little more armor from one of the others ones though.

I struggle to use the neptune gun, especially in the last part, as getting hit will interrupt the hose and cause the attack to become the harpoon attack instead.

Yeah I do that with the food.

I don't have any expansion pack items that would be useful here, I've been trying to get EoI and Darklight Crypt for ages but I can't find them anywhere (I'm not paying ebay prices). I have Pirate Seas but the Hidden Treasure item is clearly unhelpful and the Pirate Swords will presumably stop me getting the trophy. Perhaps I should wait until I get another adventure pack? I imagine those items would make a lot of difference.

I also strongly recommend against the Neptune Gun attack as it is just too easy to be interrupted and undo all of your good work with an accidental harpoon hit.

lol Yeah I learnt that the hard way...

It seemed a good idea at first as I was taking the minions down much quicker but 3 times in a row I had to let him die and start again.

If you understand the patterns of the minions attacks the neptune gun works well.... i think flameslinger shoots 3 times, pauses and then moves randomly.... after the three shots, use the neptune gun for two seconds n then lay off it.... but never use it when your against all three minions....
