If this isn't legit, then the person has a lot of time on their hands



Edit: Didn't really think much of it at the time when I first saw it, but a while ago I saw this. Now, I know that's not legit (in fact, they pretty much say that they're distributing them separately) but could these guys be distributing Dark Spyro with some custom made packaging, like we see in the video above?

Hopfully it is legit.
Then i dont have to buy the 3DS pack to get him.
Or maybe its a toy fair exclusive.

Its not. It's a 3DS exclusive, plus you can see that the Spyro picture is way cut off on the box.

It's missing the insert with the name, and the cards and stuff, which he then shows later randomly.

Ah, Oh well.

It was already open, so they were already taken out.

I dont really get how someone could make this.

It looks real. I don't know how someone could even make this. Even if they live in their mother's basement. If it is fake then that person has too much time on their hands.

The problem is that it is very well done, despite being open. It might have been made professionally then sold - who knows.

Just noticed there's one of those blue rectangles next to the main image, much like figures exclusive to certain stores have. Is this another exclusive?

It's just too farfetched to believe. The 3DS driving point was for it to have an exclusive figure. It doesn't make sense for them to release it in a single pack.

Maybe if there was better pics and even a receipt, then I could believe it.

Plus, we would have seen them pop up on ebay first, rather than some low quality video on youtube. Going back to my point of the Spyro picture, it should have been up more. It's cutting off Spyro entirely. Take a look at Sonic Boom stock art, then her single pack.

Nope. It's the "Play in the video game or on the web!" triangle that's on all the figs.

I do have a theory, though. What if this is how you get a replacement Skylander from Activision? LOL! That would be awesome. I'd tell them my Gill Grunt, Spyro, Dark Spyro, and Trigger Happy are messed up. Then they could send me sealed single pack versions.

The fact that its already open makes it very hard to verify it as real. For people with a decant photoshop program, its not really that hard to "remake" a fake backing. Watching it of course the card/webcode/sticker were removed before hand and already open. Thus calling the video a unboxing is already a lie since it wasnt done on camera. I'm going with a fake. Might not be on the part of kid making the video but the person that sold it to him. Its becoming obvious with the Gold Stump Smash in the other thread scalpers and scammers are willing to take the extra step at this point to sell their product to make more profit.

No, warrenty replacements come in a white box. Also, they showed the name and catchphrase slip in the video.

I don't believe it for the sole fact that its the ONLY one we have seen. IF activision was to release this, do you think they made one? Even the other exclusives\hard to find unique ones you have at least seen more than one for sale or someone claiming to own with pics etc

I have to say, yes it could be real, but it still could be a fake :/ The placement of the picture of DS on the front looks... off... I don't think other ones had THAT much of the characters face under the plastic bit, though I could be wrong...

I think it's mostly because Dark Spyro's face is quite low on his image. They probably have a template that automatically has the centre of the image as the most visible part. If this is standard when they print it, then they probably CBA to change it.

Well, it has to have some packaging otherwise they couldn't deliver it. Maybe the review just meant the packaging it was delivered in.

And bionicle, a "blister pack" usually denotes the original packaging. That's why it seemed a bit amiss to me.

Now that I am home (was looking at work with my phone) it is interesting about when he does show the name which usually is at the bottom. The fact that it says Dark Spyro then under that it says Lights Out is interesting. I have the DS version with him and still have the box and no where on that box does it say lights out by his name anywhere.... not that it cant be made, but its not taken from the orginal box cover...

Can we get any kind of confirmation on this? Can we ask TfB if they have or ever plan to release this?

WHERE DID HE FIND DARK SPYRO

If anyone remembers, there was a topic recently about how some of the newer Spyro figures have had their heads turned so they're looking straight ahead rather than slightly to the left (their right). Notice how this kid's Dark Spyro is looking straight ahead? Mine's definitely looking to the left.

I'm slightly inclined to believe this but I have no idea how or why.

"Lights Out!" is the official phrase for Dark Spyro.

What a terrible video

Only way I could see this being real, is if Giants were already released.

When Giants releases, I can see them doing single and triple packs for Spyro, Gill Grunt and Trigger Happy, along with a single pack of Dark Spyro.

Reason being, is because when Giants comes out, the packins will probably be new Skylanders, or a mix of new Skylanders and reposed Skylanders from the original. This goes for 3DS, too. Should anyone get their start on Giants, there will need to be a way to get ALL Skylanders into the hands of any new adopters, so making the original starter characters available, would be a smart move.

I also say this, because when Giants comes out, they will need room for Starter Packs with and without the portal, for PS3, 360, Wii, Wii U (?), Vita and 3DS. That means the original starter packs will go bye-bye.

The video isn't the best, but what we're here for is the pack. I sincerely hope it is true. If it is a fake, that is ONE HELL of a fake!

Given the incredible number of people trying to make a quick buck via EBay, it is exceptionally unlikely that this exists and has not been reported in the wider community.

As much as I want it to be sold in a single.... I dont think its going to happen.... So my opinion on that - fake.

Considering that a person can now buy the 3DS starter pack for $30 (in the States), they should be able to resell the 3DS parts they don't want and get Dark Spyro and/or Ignitor for a reasonable price.

GameMaster78 contacted TFB, so hopefully we'll have an official answer on whether or not this is a Singapore exclusive, or a really good fake. After finding that image I personally believe it is real and exclusive to Singapore, at least at the moment. There is a chance it will be released in other countries in the future, and there is a chance it will remain exclusive to Singapore. I used to collect LPS figures, and there were plenty of country exclusives, particularly in Asia, so it doesn't surprise me this hasn't popped up elsewhere.
