I have several close combat Skylanders and I am expecting Cynder in the mail. Is it worth it to hunt down Chop Chop? Is he a good character. How much is the bonus for having all four of one element?

YES!!!

Chop Chop is an OK character. He has good melee if you use the Sword path. I originally chose the Shield path, it's decent, but takes a bit of skill to get down. Having a "block" button is always nice though.

He is amazing. But he isn't a Skylander you should use to fight head on.

i feel like stump smash is a great melee character. i dont understand all the hate around him. i just found him yesterday, hes a level 4 so far and his pound attack combo already does 90 damage on the last hit. am i missing something later on that makes him bad?

Some good characters needs to be played with a certain way. Chop Chop can beat any skylander except Terrafin and Stealth Elf.

The problem with Chop Chop has nothing to do with strategy or no strategy, it's that his shield is glitched, and will drop at random intervals--usually at the worst time imaginable. I don't like playing as a character who can be undone by luck, so I don't like Chop Chop. He's slow, yes. His damage is mediocre. But the truth is, if his shield actually worked like it's supposed to, those would just be checks and balances on a very powerful character. Since it doesn't, though, that's another story.

^ That doesn't happen for my Chop Chop. His shield can be held up for like 10 seconds.

I've had that happen, too. Full-duration shieldings do exist, but all the same, I've had him endure two shots from Drobot on a fresh shield, suddenly drop it entirely, and get blasted into oblivion for no verifiable reason. He just doesn't perform well in PVP for us at all, and consistently falls near the bottom in tournaments involving all figures. I agree that there's some element of finesse to Chop Chop, but I prefer the kind of finesse necessary to play, say, SoF Ignitor at peak capacity.

His shield goes down because the shield only takes 2 hits or 1 hit that does more than 100 damage.

If nothing else, the toy is really cool. : )

If you go Sword path, and stick a speed hat on him, he's pretty great. All around, Cynder outclasses him in the Undead group, but he's not terrible.

Actually a good Chop Chop player can beat a Cynder player easily.

Undead group is as far the strongest group there is. Chop Chop just messing around.

Undies:
Ghost Roaster depending on platform is mediocre (Wii) or godlike (PS3/Xbox).
Hex is superior, character is well planned, strongly affected by strategical thinking of her owner.
Cynder, little annoying pulp.
Chop Chop is just average.
Earthies:
Dino-Rang, beefed. High HP value, very strong attacks on both paths. Superior.
Terrafin, beefed. Highest HP value, very strong attacks on both paths. Evades whole damage when underground and manages to deal damage at the same time. Overpowered.
Prism Break, beefed. High HP value, very strong attacks on both paths. Superior.
Bash, beefed. Highest HP value, very strong attacks on both paths. Superior.

Nope, it would seem we're in complete agreement. Earth is definitely the best. Not a bad, or even average, one among them.

Earth is the best group but undead isn't that far behind.

It really is a two-element race so far. Although, on the strength of Stealth Elf alone, Life is already a contender. Zook and Camo would have to be pretty awful for it not to be in the discussion once they're released.

I think Zook and Camo will be good. So it is a 3 way race.

Earth has two ranged skylanders: prism break and dino rang and two melee skylanders: bash and terrafin.

The shield works fine for me. This is how the shield works. It falls down with one hit if the hit does more than 100 damage. And the shield falls down with 2 hits.

EVERY UNDEAD IS AWESOME!!! Except for Chop chops shield. Thats the only thing you ARE right about.

Yeah, Rays is right. Chop Chop's shield isn't designed to be a "win button". You need to know how and when to raise it and when to counter.

chop chop was in the first triple pack i bought and i fell in love with him: in my opinion he is the best close combat character in the game

Well he is the second best close combat character after stealth elf.

i havent used stealth elf but ive used all the other ones and he beats them all

Yeah, Drobot and Stealth Elf are....pretty ridiculous. Drobot especially in terms of DPS.

My friend who knows how to use chop chop lost to a friend as trigger happy, and it was his first time playing the game (trigger happy) vs someone who had used chop chop to the point he knew what to do, yes trigger happy

Well you have pretty much convinced me that I don't want Chop Chop, since I don't like defensive characters. I have a lot of the other skylanders you mentioned. If he is re-released in the new wave I might consider him.

Rays is right though i beat my brother who was using my drobot and i used chop chop and he is easily able to get close to people by sprinting with his shield and btw he isnt just defensive he has a fairly good attack stat and he is a fast attacker

I have been able to beat my freinds stealth elf with a chop-chop. My freind has had the game since it came out and I onl;y got it for christmas, but I still beat him. So wadda you say to that?

That person using Chop Chop must suck at the game. Chop Chop is one of the best Skylanders. Is your friend around 3-10 years old?

He's cool (especially since he's Arkeyan) so I'm gonna say yes.
