Yo, Activision- I know you read these forums. Why not put out a Skylanders Kart game as well as a direct sequel? These characters are all perfect for a kart game, complete with weapons.

Sorry but I think if they do that, this early in the game, it looks like they admit defeat and are implying that they have run out of ideas for a proper adventure-based sequel.

I can see them as a minigame but not as a full game maybe with a bunch of minigames like Golf, soccer, maybe some other sports like what they did with the football in the arena. Or I can See it as a bunch of games like a party game

I endorse a kart game ONLY if it is a tag on mini-game for Skylanders 2.

I don't see it happening though. After all, there are 32 different Skylanders (no, I'm not including D. Spyro or Legendaries). That would be quite a bit of work giving them their own unique karts, a la Mario Kart. I think that is needed, to be honest. I'd rather have more of the same to be honest. I'm eating up Skylanders.

Oh I'm sure they would if it was good enough. They'd just never admit that the idea came from a fan. It would have "already been in development".

Yeah, if someone suggests to them something to do, then they won't do it because that person may complain if something is similar, so the initial idea is completely scrapped if they had been thinking of doing it.

So people who keep suggesting plots and stuff for them mean that any future games are delayed even more! So people going: "The next game should do this, have this character" etc, if they are too specific, can end up having the game being delayed or cancelled in some cases.

It's all to do with a big law thing and the whole copyright of ideas and stuff.

Wrong, as long the idea wasn't patent it does not belong to you. You have to buy off the right to make your ideas worth money.

Can you specify which games were delayed or canceled because of fan post/fan ideas/fan support?
I can't remember that happening... in fact I used to see quite the opposite.

''Whole copyright''... and ''big law thing'' are those sentences which exactly describe the status of your knowledge.
Don't want to sound rude though.

Crash Team Racing© was a decent game so I would say Skylanders could make it big aswell.

I wouldn't mind a kart came, but I don't think all of the characters should be in it for some reason...

This is actually incorrect.

If you can provide documented proof that:

1/. You came up with an idea
2/. You introduced the idea to a company

then if they use said idea without including you then that is IP infringement.

Disclaimers:

1/. A fan request in a public forum can be used without regard as the intention can be demonstrated to be public and the idea forwarded without expectation of remuneration.
2/. Provision of documentation is not trivial. The originator should provide evidence that not only did they provide said concept but the intended recipient actually received it (e.g. mail was signed for or proof of meeting).
2a/. Evidence must be shown to pre-date concept usage. There is no point showing an email with a specific date, for example, as that could be falsified. The concept doc could be independently verified as existing (and date stamped) by a justice of the peace, etc. Otherwise, I have seen clear doco, such as the exec summary, photo'd next to a current newspaper. That is a bit extreme and a bit too proof of life oriented for my taste but does prove the point...
3/. Concept must be specific and innovative; for example, "blue background looks nice" or "add a Like button" does not suffice.

IP law is a minefield - it is constantly changing and varies drastically based on locality and recent past precedence. That is why most get a IP lawyer to do the groundwork.

The whole dilemma is generally easy to prove/disprove in court but the process is costly. Hence, many places/people refuse to accept unsolicited ideas not because they worry about losing in court but more-so for the drama/cost/effort it would entail. How many people would like to claim that Stephen King purloined their idea, for instance?

I'm surprised at the negative response.

1. Kart games are some of the most fun games I've played with other people (Mario Kart series).

2. Another game to use your Skylanders in- how can this be a bad thing? I would buy a Skylanders Chess game if I could put my figs in via portal.

On the Nintendo note, look at all of the fun spinoffs that they have gone with based on the Mario Universe- Golf, Fighting, Soccer, etc. If done right, these games are winners.

It comes across as a "quest for more money" and is perceived to signify that the developers have run out of original ideas. You will notice that they are generally reserved for franchises which have been around for a while and are not fresh or new.

Kart games in gaming land equate to Christmas albums in music land.

i thought as spyro and crash are close and crash is more well known to having kart games in the past , what if they made a skylander style racing game in which there are many characters including crash characters (Crash, Coco, Pasadena etc) that come with a racer and a car and you can change cars and modify them in game?

Well, they're both owned by Acti, so it is likely :/ But I'm not sure how it would work, cause they may as well use a straight Crash/Spyro crossover rather than Crash/Skylanders...

For a random idea, how about a Skylanders party game! Board game style thing with mini games and everything? Yeah? Yeah?
