I'm new and have been lurking for about a week now. I can't seem to find a thread for introductions. I am only interested in Skylanders so I've not searched in any of the other forums for one. I'm sure I'm not the only person that is only interested in Skylanders so it might be a good idea to sticky an introductions thread in this forum.

Anyway...

My children saved up their own money to buy a Skylanders starter set. I actually tried to talk them out of it, but I'm glad I failed. I'm hooked on the game myself now.

As a family we have 14 so far. We divide them up between us. Yes, that's right, even 46 year old daddy is collecting Skylanders.

I even bought a DS portal ala carte from eBay so that I can play online from my computer in my office and the kids can play on the big computer connected to our living room TV. Might buy another one so that one of them can connect via laptop as well so we can all play at once.

The retail shortage has hit us all pretty hard here, we all want figures that we can't get unless we are willing to be gouged. I won't allow it even if one of my children wanted to pay over retail. It's principle not just money.

Anyway, I joined this forum because we really love the game and when I am interested in something I join forums that discuss that something.

Our collection shakes out like this:

My daughter, 9 has the following:
Hex, Gill Grunt, Flameslinger, Voodood and her favorite is Sonic Boom which she got as a reward for doing stuff around the house.

My son, 5 has the following:
Spyro, Boomer, Stump Smash and his favorite is Drobot.

I'm the father, 46 and have the following:
Trigger Happy, Prism Break.

Left over and not yet sorted out for who gets what are:

Eruptor, Chop Chop and Bash.

Thanks for the quick response. It isn't easy trying to be fair about it. We all want at least one of every element and if my wife was into it it would be cake. However she's not and dividing the Skylanders into three collections doesn't work out evenly.

I'm taking one for the team and only getting one figure per element. Even so that leaves one child with one more Skylander than the other, which I am hoping to re-balance with Adventure Packs.

It might divide easily if you get a legendary Character down the road. 33 Characters 11 each!

Why not just 24 figures? Eight elements times three people? As soon as another Air and Life element come out, you're golden (and the Lightning Rod/Zook/Cynder and Ignitor/Camo/Warnado triple packs are supposed to come out in the next wave). Just need to plan it out ahead of time so you can each get what you want.

Welcome, and the division is similar in our house. My kids get them all except for Hex and L-Choppy.

We want them all (with the possible exception of the Legendaries. Those are like "if we find them great, if we don't oh well".

Worst case scenario there are some figures that both of them want enough that I think we may purposely end up with some doubles.

I'm sure it will all work out in the end when everything shakes loose.

For some strange reason my kids don't squabble about who gets what fig. They seem to bicker about lots of trivial things but not this?

I simply play whatever they don't want to play when I join in and when I play solo I can pick anything, of course.
