Wii VS Other versions - Differences [CLOSED]

Whilst playing the Wii and owning the official guide (with so many errors in said guide), I've noticed several differences in the game. Care to help me check some of these?

Differences

  • Graphics - Obviously, more polished on other versions
  • Treasure Chest locations - I've found at least one chest in an area it shouldn't be
  • Bosses - Some minions come before the other
  • Lock Challenges - Some are re-done for the Wii version
  • Skylander Preview clips - Wii version focuses more on original clips, others show more gameplay examples

And of course - Every version has it's own exclusive hat not available in any other console except that one.

Anything else?

Yeah, I'm mostly interested in the console versions though, seeing as that's what the guide attempts to cover smilie

From what I've heard in a review, the portal works faster in the PS3 and 360 versions than they do in the Wii version.

I've only been able to play the Wii version at the moment. I'll be playing the PS3 version at a neighbour's house next week though.

And I'll get the hats list soon.

Hatlanders ahoy! I really wish they had made it with different armor pieces instead, or something, like in DotD. Most of the hats look silly, and kids are still fine with shiny armor and whatnot.

If you have a decent PC, get the PC version. It is $10.00 cheaper and depending on your specs you can run it most likely at 60fps.

I actually found the armor silly to be honest, I hated wearing it in DotD. The hats are silly too, but I can get a laugh out of them.

I have the PC and Wii versions.

The treasure chest (that comes in the adventure pack Pirate Ship) runs out in PC once used.
In Wii, in your skyland, you just have to place it, and after collect the trasure, go to the fairy and leave, and the treasure chest will be available again.
You can even replace the treasure chest in the portal so it appears really near the left side of the fairy.
If you are in the mood, you can collect all the money you need to upgrade something in your skaylanders.
Usually the Treasure Chest is available after you unlock something (in Wii) in any level through the game.

I'm surprised no-one's brought up the actual differences in combat balance that the Wii version has from the other platforms, like how Eruptor's eruption attack is instant after upgrading in the Wii version while still having a short start-up period on other platforms, and how Drill Seargent's charge attack is nerfed on the Wii, etcetera. You can ask Tashiji about the rest.

The biggest difference my two boys notice between PS3 (here) and Wii (at their Mom's) is Perilous Pastures, Level 2. This is our "Gold Making" level on the PS3. We run in, go through the Tech Portal at the beginning, collect the 700gold while ignoring everything and repeat. My boys, 8 and 6, can do this individually and get about 3K in gold in < 10 minutes to power up any new Skylander with and not worry about dieing.

They tell me on the Wii version it's only a couple hundred worth; which, in all honestly, it should be for level two!

I found the best way to exploit the Treasure Chest is to have it appear right next to Callie on the Wii version. When you're done collecting, you only have to move a small amount to start Callie's conversation, and you can skip it really fast. (Sometimes, Persephone will randomly start on her gibberish and it takes a couple seconds to skip that too) Hugo also walks by so sometimes you don't even have to move!

This is an old list for the hats:

Row 1
Combat Hat (+15 Elemental Power) Level 14
Napoleon Hat (+ 5 Armor, +5 Elemental Power) Level 7
Spy Gear (+5 Critical Hit, +2 Speed) Level 12
Miner Hat (+7 Armor, +7 Elemental Power) Level 18
General’s Hat (+7 Critical Hit, +7 Elemental Power) Level 13
Pirate Hat (+20 Critical Hit) Level 24

Row 2
Propeller Cap (+3 Speed) Level 3
Coonskin Cap (+10 Critical Hit) Level 11
???
Fancy Hat (+2 Armor, +1 Speed) Level 4
Top Hat (+5 Critical Hit, +5 Armor) Level 9
Viking Helmet (+5 Critical Hit) Level 1

Row 3
Spiked Hat (+7 Critical Hit, +7 Armor) Level 13
Anvil Hat (+5 Armor) Level 1
Beret (+15 Critical Hit) Level 15
Birthday Hat (+2 Critical Hit, + 1 Speed) Level 2
Bone Head (+3 Speed, +7 Elemental Power) Level 16
???

Row 4
Wabbit Ears (+12 Armor, +5 Speed) Level 22
Tropical Turban (+2 Speed, +5 Elemental Power) Level 6
Chef Hat (+10 Critical Hit, + 10 Elemental Power) Level 25
Cowboy Hat (+2 Critical Hit, +2 Armor) Level 2
Rocket Hair (+7 Critical Hit, +3 Elemental Power) Level 17
???

Row 5
Lil Devil (+9 Speed) Level 19
Eye Hat (+5 Critical Hit, +5 Elemental Power) Level 8
Fez (+5 Elemental Power) Level 4
Crown of Light (+15 Armor) Level 16
Jester Hat (+1 Speed, +2 Elemental Power) Level 3
???

Row 6
Moose Hat (+5 Armor, +2 Speed) Level 10
Plunger Head (+2 Critical Hit, +2 Elemental Power) Level 5
Pan Hat (+2 Armor, +2 Elemental Power) Level 1
Rocket Hat (+6 Speed) Level 12
???
Tiki Hat (+10 Elemental Power) Level 6

Row 7
Trojan Helmet (+10 Armor) Level 8
Unicorn Hat (+12 Critical Hit, +12 Armor) Level 20
Wizard Hat (+25 Elemental Power) Level 21
Pumpkin Hat (+10 Armor) Level 25
Pirate Doo Rag (+4 Speed) Level 24
???

Row 8
???
???
Flower Hat (+2 Critical Hit, +2 Armor) Start the game with this hat.

Some of the ones that are ??? are probably the newer ones from the expansions.
I believe the Wii exclusive is the "Happy Birthday!" hat (it looks like a cake) and the 3DS one is the Balloon hat. (Looks like an inflatable toilet seat for whatever reason..)

No, only the Wii version is wireless, the PC has a 3 ft cord and the Xbox 360 has a 12 ft cord. Well... the 3ds is wireless also, sort of, it's infared and doesn't work that great.

i have the 3ds version and its waaaaaaaaaaaay different like ghost roaster his tail is shackled to the ball and chain but on the other consoles the ball and chain is his tail and bash's second move where he slams a boulder to the ground and the console he rolls around in a ball plus not many upgrades for the 3ds and the portal is wireless its like a scanner and everyone knows the villain is changed to hektore a huge big head with horns plus the stroy takes place on radiant isles a different place on skylands

The Bradygame guide list of exclusive hats is wrong. Cowboy hat is 1/2 of the hats on the Perilous Pastures level not the exclusive for xbox. The xbox hat is the flower hat.
This website has a more comprehensive list of the hats.

but i got the Cowboy hat in the ps3 version too X_X so now im confused...

EDIT; from the darkspyro hat list that waslinked above!

Flower Hat Xbox 360
Balloon Hat 3DS
Happy Birthday! Wii
Bowler Hat PC
Straw Hat PS3

Edit2: They all have the same stats btw, 2 and 2(of whatever they give) so it's not a huge difference really. No big deal. =) Def. cool though to wear the baloon hat from the 3ds game into the ps3 version, its funny looking. =)

It may not be a functional difference, but don't forget something obvious: The 360/PS3 has achievements/trophies. I'm not an achievement hound, but I do find that I go after at least a few of them, giving extra life to whichever game I'm playing.
