For the ones IVE personally played i like the best;

Magic; only played Dark Spyro so far
Tech: Trigger Happy
Earth: Prism Break
Air: I've only use Sonic Boom
Fire: Flameslinger
Water: I've only Played Zap
Life: Steal Elf for the win!
Undead: I've only used Chop Chop

My favorite character of all time is Stealth Elf, shes totally rape if you go down her Ninjitsu path lol

if you go off the guide book and the skylanders with the better starting stats like i did it goes like this:
magic: dark spyro
tech: trigger happy
earth: dino-rang
air: whirlwind
fire: flameslinger
water: zap
life: stealth elf
undead: chop chop

and that's what i think are the best starting stat skylanders from all of them even ones that aren't released (this did not include the legendary as they were made to have superior stats in the first place)

"Best" to me is too subjective... best at adventure mode? best at PvP? Or just best as in your favorite?

But I'll go with the best for PvP since that's where the fun is when you've maxed everyone out already:

Air: Whirlwind
Life: Stealth Elf
Undead: Cynder
Earth: Terrafin
Fire: Ignitor
Water: Gill Grunt
Magic: Double Trouble
Tech: Drobot

But some of these are too close to call really like Drobot/Boomer and Double Trouble/VooDood

Undead: ChopChop or Cynder (Hard to choose between them)
Fire: Ignitor
Magic: Voodood (Double trouble comes in close second for me)

Its hard to choose sometimes cus I like several of each, but these are the ones I prefer of the elements as it stands now, Only one I've yet to try out is Wham Shell since mine's not showed up at my door yet, but soon I shall.
