Heya,

I was wondering... why isnt there an online gaming modus on the consoles?
It would be amazing, with 8 peeps against each other, or in team... capture the flag, ... all these things, why? This would make this game amazing!!

Because there was a whole lot of other stuff that needed to be put into this game to make it great, they left out online play.

I was just thinking about it before bed last night, and I can bet anything that the sequel to the game will include online play. It wouldn't make sense to leave it out. I would also be willing to bet that in the sequel we'll be able to jump instead of using bounce pads.

Would it worth it? Would it worth the expense to develop an online gameplay experience? The target audience is kids, parents are not that willing to let their kids play online games. So it will mostly result in empty servers =/

My son does bash bros. online and wins more than he loses. He is 5 btw, Both of my kids are on many different "MMO"s online. Mooshi Monsters, Club Penguin, Monkey Quest, and now Skylanders. I have no problem with this as there is a way to moderate what kind of chat messages they can send and see in the game. If the console was similar to bash bros, there is no way I would say NO to either one wanting to do this online. So long as there is a way to moderate the chat in game, I am all for my kids being online. The more computer experience they get now, the better off they will be in the future.

This isn't about Skylanders universe though, this is about Skylanders WiFI games on Console.

Console versions online are even more strict. I think there's only like...one or two Wii games that you can actually use a microphone with, otherwise you can't talk to people at all, but you can play online with them.

I personally hate the fact that you can't type out your own text on Skylanders Universe online, if we're gonna talk about that. But i'm also 20 and would like my own free speech. They should have a server for like 16+ that you must input DoB to get on. Or just implement a filter...

This is the safest method of moderation around. As a parent I like it lots.

As a player, I agree that it is frustrating that you cannot control what your character says and that you cannot hold a real conversation. However, no filter of any kind can stop a predator from prying information from kids about where they live and their schedules.

Well there are filters that they could implement to not allow numbers, for phone numbers or addresses but I guess anyone COULD always say "I'll be here at this time" but...

That's why parents like you teach your children online safety smilie

Isn't club penguin free speech? With filters obviously but...

If there was an online play, it would be easy on the Wii to limit the chat, but not on the PS3 and X360

Club Penguin has a way to limit what can be said by your kids. I have it turned on so that my kids can only say things from a list of approved messages in a menu. They cannot type in anything and have it appear on screen. Unless my daughter has figured out how to turn that off, LOL.

I'd still be buying skylanders if it were online. I've stopped buying since there is no point for me after completing the game.

If they want online play to truly be a Skylanders experience, it has to be across all platforms. Is that even possible? (Seems like a no to me, but I am honestly asking the question.)

I know they could have an online version for each separate console, but then that would open up a whole new list of complaints.

No it's not possible, and why would there be complants? No one is complaining now that games aren't cross platform...

It's the nature of gaming. I would only get to play with people who have Wii, why would I complain?

Yeah, totally correct, I think nobody will complain. It's just, once you completed the game now, it's kinda done... you can upgrade all your chars, but why? you cant even use them if you are having this game and nobody else from your friends got it. :/

Would could definitely work is some sort of sensor system. If I'm not mistaken, that Cartoon Network Universe game had a nice sensor system, which was perfect for kids.

There's an absolutely limitless amount of things that they could do with online play. Special quests, special challenges (akin to the ones in Smash Bros which are occasionally really hilarious), PvP matches against friends, heck..we could even explore chapters together.
