George Lucas.

Can you imagine this concept with star wars? Having all of those characters to choose from built in. All of the different places for stories. Already having a solid toy line to draw from. Man, its good to see someone else come up with this to bilk that fool for $.

Disney as well. ... Actually, maybe more. They would kill anyone, anywhere, and by any method, to have come up with this idea. It's just too perfect for them, but now they'll be an also-ran when they eventually go ahead and do it anyway.

Surely Activision would have patented the process of changing figures to change characters in the game? If Apple can patent a finger swipe to switch photos then this must be a cert.

I bet companies like Disney, the Star Wars franchise etc are already planning something. In the least, they're probably working with Toys for Bob on something, which could mean we'd be seeing them pretty soon. They're obviously taking note of how these things are flying off the shelves, since they're basically DLC for Skylanders, but a more physical version than something you'd download in say..the Xbox Live marketplace.

Honestly though, they'd have to have them at the same price which seems unlikely since Star Wars figures cost almost the same as the Skylanders do! So they'd probably be charging like...$15 for one figure, which I'd bet parents would have a harder time coughing up than $7.99.

I can imagine Nintendo making a spinoff Pokemon game or a Super Smash Bros game that's like Skylanders.

Just based on target audience, pokeballs makes far more sense than smash bros.

Forget George Lucas, Nintendo and Gamefreak are kicking themselves for not doing this with Pokemon.

Though the Pokemon franchise is much larger...they could have still done it with some of its games, for example for the 3DS "Pokemon Rumble Blast" not all 654 (is that right?) pokemon are in it, so they could have made the toys to rumble with. The irony? Pokemon rumble blast is a game BASED on toys fighting!

Disney already has a Skylanders-like concept:

Cars for the iPad. I bet this is only their first move.

That's actually very true. I never really thought about the comparison, though I still think Skylanders happens to work out as a better concept in the end.

You mean to tell me that kids can't play with matchbox or hotwheels without a moving backdrop nowadays? What's the world coming to? 15 pounds is what? $25? Redonkulous.

I believe it's less than that, it's like 20. I was at Toys R Us recently and dont recall them being 25 bucks. I was standing right in front of them but i could be completely wrong. Plus toys r Us always has sales.

But you're right >.> why should matchbox cars need a moving background.

Sad days for the next generation that will lack an imagination...

Has anyone actually seen those Cars thing in the stores? They're $12.99. I would NEVER buy one of those for my kid. They can play with something else rather than something like that, especially since the iPads' price tag is nothing to scoff at. Look at how dinky those things are too!

Like, $5.99-$9.99 is a good amount, especially for a figure this size, not to mention what it does. If companies could get them at that range, they'd be fine.
