A problem found with the Skylander Cynder [CLOSED]

My wonderful husband bought me Cynder today. After leveling her, we discovered that while she performs admirably in story mode (as she more than likely will in PvP mode), she cannot complete her Heroic Challenges. Something is preventing her from entering portals like the ones found in "Lair of the Spiders", "The Three Teleporters" (duh), "Stop, Sheep Thieves", and many others. She was able to complete the "Save the Purple Chompies!" easily on her second try with full skills set on her lightning path (besides soul gem upgrade), a purple bugger stuck to her butt and over a minute remaining, but for the life of me I can't get her to go through a darned pink portal to complete many of her challenges. We tried this on our second -unleveled/skilled- Cynder and the same thing happened. Does anyone know why this is happening, and should we try to contact Activision to see what they say?

I have the 360 version, and I completed her Heroic Challenge without a problem.

PS3 here. She's also frozen in place several times and will spin in a circle if you try to move. It is very frustrating smilie

Uh-oh. I have the PS3 version of the game. I don't have a Cynder to confirm this problem with, but this makes me worried.

Have you contacted Activision's Customer Support? They're good about resolving issues. (I know this from personal experience.)

Strangely enough, we were able to teleport through Ghost Roaster's challenge just fine, and then it... well, broke. Even going back to that already-completed challenge yielded no results from teleporters she was working fine with half an hour ago. Very, very odd...

Edit: Going by that logic, we just reset the game. Occam's razor, folks... now it works just fine. Very strange. The teleporters just "broke," and resetting fixed them. If this happens to anyone else, do that.

I wonder if Activision already knows this problem exists and that's why we're seeing so few Cynders.

OMG if Cynder is bugged upon release they better have fairly good defense towers around Activision H.Q. because the Cynder fans are gonna want blood. I have the PS3 version as well and am hoping that this is isolated. However if the same problem persists on two different Skylanders than that's not very encouraging.

Resetting the game works. If you encounter the non-teleporting Cynder, reset the game.

*edit* She will often get stuck in one place. Using just the joy/toggle stick will make her spin in a circle. Try dashing; more than likely she will fix herself. So far, these are the two bugs we've noticed with her, the latter being the most common by far, even in PvP. If it happens in PvP, just let the other player know. Hopefully they won't be little... you know... and kill you on the spot whilst you suffer their wraith while you are unable to retaliate. We will let you know if we find anything else out.
So far though, she is able to go toe-to-toe against Stealth Elf. 2w-2l. A winning streak could not be attained by either player. Goodluck with Cynder.

I had a problem with this with a heroic challenge once, forget which Skylander it was, though. Anyways, a hard reset fixed it.

Have completed 3 challenges, including Stop Sheep Thieves, with no glitches like the ones you mentioned. We have the Wii version so it may be specific to PS3 or perhaps your individual Cynder's chip is malfunctioning. Have you tried calling Activision?...on their beta website, they list this in their Help Section:

Q: I broke a figurine or my Portal

A: Uh oh! Luckily we can help! Contact our Activision Customer Support either online at or call us at (800) 225-6588.

Maybe they can tell you if you are doing something wrong or maybe they'll even replace it???

Good luck.
