Congrats on using hacks. You're obviously not oblivious to the fact that people are more concerned with seeing photographs of the figures than seeing just the in-game characters, so, there's no reason you'd post one and not the other if you actually had them.

Not going to lie, I would like to do this myself, or know how. I want to do new things in this game, but Activision is staggering the releases too far out.

Doing this wouldn't stop me from buying the toys still, but I am ready to see new things in this game. However, it's not my fault I can't. It's Activisions.

You have to be patient, GameMaster. I'm sure you have a lot of things to do while waiting for the other figures you like to come out.

There's a difference between using a hack for pleasure, and in the privacy of your own home, on a game you have purchased legally, and... well, what this guy is doing; hacking, and bragging about it. Hacking, and trying to get some gullible parents and kids to believe s/he has the new figures. Hacking to get everyone to post "pics or it didn't happen," and cause general chaos. Basically, trolling.

Morality aside this guys gave us something Activision won't...content. They expect and rely on us to obsess and tell everyone we know how cool this game is. When we stop caring the game dies. While Skylanders was successful over the holidays it will be interesting to see if Activision can keep interest high enough to keep this game going. Any news/footage most of us can see we will just eat up. I hope Activision is watching and that they take note...we want more content.

That, and most of us will just come crawling back to the franchise when new figures come out anyway, no matter HOW badly they botch the staggered releases. While I agree with you for the most part it was interesting timing for this game to come out. It happened to launch at the start of the holiday shopping season. Now I do think Skylanders is a great product and that I'm here for the long haul, let's see how well this game does between now and Easter. That will be the true test. If I still see empty pegs in February that's a good sign.

This is exactly the way they want it to be, I think. They're going with the Beanie Babies model, and if that could work for some crappy stuffed animals on a generation of kids with far greater critical thinking abilities than the ones of today, Activision should have no trouble sustaining interest in a product that only needs a dinky in-store display to sell itself. Who cares if people quit? There's buzz, there's demand, and the steady stream of new customers won't end under the Christmas tree.

Just so that I can educate ya'll, this is not a hack but a crack. I am a grey hat hacker and I don't crack things that shouldn't be cracked. It is obvious that whomever this is DLed something that someone else did. This person is a script kiddie.

Hacker : one who disassembles and reassembles looking for ways to improve the product.
Cracker : one who disassembles looking for a way to exploit the product for personal gain.
Script kiddie : one who stands on the shoulders of others not advancing what has been done, only enjoying the "benefits" of said crack.

It is inarguable, just read the original post. What other possible purpose could the question marks after Wham Shell's alleged release date be meant to communicate? Spoiler alert: Nothing. You don't have to scream that you have the figures to say that you have the figures. What the OP used was a nuanced approach, but not a subtle one.

Agreeable. We need to see the figures themselves if we're to believe the figurines are available. Questionable how they were able to pull this stunt off, but agreeing with Aura, this could result in consequences.

I would prefer to use a USB cord version as opposed to bluetooth. With that, I could monitor the signals sent over the USB cable and figure out what the commands are that "save" the figure and it would be just a simple deduction to wipe it back to all 0's.

So your options are the PC, X360 and 3DS ones... =/

i dont think the reset in it self is much different but how it is executed. with the 3ds you get an message to reset figurine, if it dont read it before you start the game. obviously without seeing it and i dont have the 3ds or broken skylanders, i cant be 100% sure on this. but with other versions of the game you have only option to reset the skylanders ingame and while they are working. if they dont read on the portal you cant reset them.... that is the big different i think..

It's not the first time someone is talking about hack on the forum, it can have consequences yes. Activision is pretty fast to remove the videos on youtube. maybe they can send a PM to Dark regarding these topics about hacks?

paranoia at the highest eh?.... talking about hacks is no problem, its when you start showing how to hack it in public, the problem starts and no one here does that... and the youtube videos of someone playing a not possible to unlock 'yet' dlc of a game, who cares.. give it the end of january and there will be a lot of 'empire of ice' videos on there...

why is everybody so scared of everything related to hacking/cheating/whatevering this game.. this gets beyond paranoia. i know i want to unlock the empire of ice, if i could go and buy it right now, i would do that. but if the only way i can play it is cheating, well i want to cheat.

Not sure how you think things work in the world but my wii sends info to and from the portal via bluetooth. Since peeps r tellin me to use it on the PC, it would still be bluetooth. Since I do not currently have a way to sniff bluetooth communications, that would be pointless. Installing as a Human Interface Device USB device does me no good either.

the 3ds game is totally different beast than all other versions, it even can hold characters so you don't have to have them on the portal to play....
