Yes, but it seems as though if you don't buy just about all of them, you're poor, or you aren't cool. I know you guys aren't directly saying that, but that's how it's coming off. It's making me feel guilty for not spending more money on what is simply a decent game.

The game is only as expensive as you want it to be. If you get involved, you can buy more. If not, one of each element will suffice for full completion of the game and all trophies/achievements; everything outside of the collection tabs, really. So, in reality, it's not terribly expensive, but it does get pricier the more involved you become.

You do get more bang for your buck than most DLC. Not only do you get a high-quality, well-painted figure for each one you buy, they work on all three console versions, the unique 3DS version, and the ever-expanding online universe. If you have every version of the game, as some do, each figure is more valuable, because you can do more and more with them the more versions you have. The value of each character doesn't end with the completion of the main game, or even when you get tired of Skylanders completely, because even long after the game no longer holds any worth for you, you'll still have the figures.

I think people harp on the pricetag a bit much, honestly. Normal DLC is much more worthless; you don't even have anything tangible to show for it, and as soon as you get tired of the game, you may as well have never bought it in the first place. Sure, you can purchase all additional content in Call of Duty for much less out of pocket, but that stuff only works for one game, and when you're through with that one game, it no longer exists. Not in future sequels, not in alternate games like 3DS or SSU, and most certainly not in the real world on top of your desk.

I don't see why anyone should feel that way. It's not like any cool person's going to judge you for it. I'm sure you also understand that some people simply do have some spare money to buy one or two figures every once in a while. It's not like everyone here is some obsessive greedy gut that wants as many skylandies as possible.

As for me, I bought Whirlwind, Zap, Bash, Stealth Elf, and Pirate Seas. So roughly around 60 dollars. The rest of the skylanders were bought by my little cousin's parents. :P

I'm aware of the intention of this thread, and what it's intention wasn't.

This is probably just being me being irritated by people spending 200+ on what is (IMO) a decent game, and nothing more. I can't find myself spending that much on any game, let alone one that I would give a 7/10, at most. I simply can't afford it, and even if I could, I wouldn't bother. I'd rather spend that kind of money on other games that I just might enjoy even more, than on the same game that I most likely have already completed.

I feel the same way when people claim Skylanders to be Game of the Year. This game wouldn't even crack the top 10 for me.

Again, all in my own opinion. I'd go more into this, but this isn't the time or place for it. I'll save it for an eventual rant.

Me And my husband both collect together And weve Only spent $20 of our own money on one adventure pack, the rest was from xmas And gamestop trade ins And deals And coupons. But heres a list of what weve aquired. Starter pack/Game $70 3 triple packs $20 each 2 adventure packs $20 each and about 5 single packs $8 each. And the volcanic vault for $40 online(bought for me for Xmas). I still need the 3ds Game And its exclusive characters And the legendary trío pack.

The cool part is, these three cases have handles on the sides that snap together, holding it all together, for safe travel. You can simply unsnap them and it turns into three containers.

It can be bought at Walmart.

I updated my first post, detailing how much I spent on page 1. It reflects the 145.96 I spent adding to my collection.

I recently got the silver Boomer and Eruptor (averaged 7.99 per figure out of my own money, after christmas money gotten), and I added the PC version of the game to my collection (59.99), as well as another Wii version to keep sealed (69.99).

So add another 145.96 to that total.

I got to thinking about something. The total sales for this game on the Wii alone, according to VGChartz, is 915,934.

Think about each Skylander for a second. Let's say Prism Break was bought by all 915,934 owners of the Wii version. That's 7,318,312.66 in their pocket for just that one Skylander. That's insane.

Let's say all 915,934 bought all 28 single pack Skylanders. At 7.99 a piece, that equals up to 204,912,754.40. Let's say that all 915,934 bought all 4 adventure packs, at 19.99 a piece. That totals up to 73,238,082.64. Both of those total up to 278,150,837.04 spent on Skylander figures alone, based on each person buying all 32 Skylanders after all is said and done.

Again, that's just for those who own the Wii version. According to VGChartz, the 360 version sold 398,253, and the PS3 version sold 336,920. If you combine those two, with the Wii version, you have a total of 1,651,107. At 69.99 a piece that adds up to 115,560,978.90.

Now this is all assumptions, based on 915,934 buying all 32 Skylanders, but if they did, then this game will have generated -

393,711,815.94

That's just based on 915,934 buying all 32 Skylanders and total sales of the game on all systems minus the PC and 3DS version.

If you add in the PC versions sales of 13,426 at 59.99, that's another 805,425.74, while the 3DS versions sales of 150,391 adds another 10,525,866.09. Together, that's another 11,331,291.83 to add to the 393,711,815.94, which makes for a grand total of -

405,043,107.77

I didn't even factor in sales of Skylanders figures to those who own the 3DS, PC, PS3 and 360 versions of the game.

My point? This game made some serious bank.

I remember when the trailer came out for this game, everyone was like: THIS GAME LOOKS ****! ILL NEVER BUY IT!!! Well looks like they were VERY wrong!

As far as all the sales figures, that is just sales $. you have to subtract the cost of manufacturing, development, advertising, and packaging. Based on what I know about video games, the game package itself profits the producers roughly $5 a sale. Where activision is making all the $ is on the figures. I seriously doubt that the cost to manufacture, package, ship, and display the figures is more than $3 a piece. Selling these itamz to stores for $5 cost puts $2 per figure in activision's pocket and $2 per figure into the retailer's pocket. I would imagine it is atleast an extra $0.50 per 3 pack and adventure set more profit to both activision and retailer. Factor in TRU charging $10 apiece instead of the standard $8 and now you have some money grubbing scum.

Activision can pretty much sell the Game (Disc) at a cheaper price and get everything back in the figures/pack sales. I got almost all the figures except the 3DS figures so I too paid more than what a new video game ($49-59) would cost and I am happy about it. I just bought the elder scrolls:Skyrim game at gamestop for $65 (I know! I should have order from amazon!) and frankly I was more annoyed paying that much for that skyrim game than all the money I paid for my Skylanders game and collection.

It is funny that I paid more for the Skylanders game because it has tangible figures or toys that you can really collect anot just the typical in-game items that you collect. This is a feature that Im sure Activision is going to do for other franchises.

Allow me to be a hypocrit and say that I hate Activision for milking Call of Duty annually, but I will love them for milking Skylanders annually (I hope).
