For one thing, how would you know if the majority of hardcore fans bought this game more than just an average person? You can't really just make that observation because of this wesbite now can you? That's a bit unfair.

i think they could at least say something. i mean not everyone knows about those who comes out january. we dont even know when in january.

It really can't hurt their bottom line to announce something at this point. I mean, stores nationwide are full of empty Skylanders shelves, and let's be real here, you can't sell empty. Now is the perfect time for them to tell kids and parents when they can return to the stores. It could even be somewhat of an event. I mean, the figures will arrive on the same day either way, and there's no point getting up in arms about it, but all the secrecy isn't going to help them sell empty airspace.

well january is only a few hours away. they can at least announce the arrival of wave 3 or four or something now.

It may not even be legal for them to tell us. Since Whirlwind and Drill Sergeant, two store exclusives, are part of the next wave, it might be in violation of said exclusivity agreement to publicize the date at which they will show up in other stores. Sure, those are only one small part of the next wave, but it does kind of put a potential damper on the announcement of two new single packs, and the one new triple pack, which functionally covers half the entire shipment. I don't see why they aren't announcing Empire of Ice, but with the corporate world, who really knows what to think anymore.

I think just a generic announcement like "New Wave Coming Soon" should have been fine.

But we know a new wave is coming soon. Even if it's not on their official website anyway, the information's out there. Regardless of whether or not it would help to hear it from Activision directly, they'll all still show up on the same exact day either way.

why is it illegal?

Because of the exclusivity agreements, it might be against the fine print of their respective contracts to say that they'll be appearing at competing chains on a specific date. Even if it's for just a few more hours at this point, Drill Sergeant is still the exclusive merchandise of Walmart, and if suddenly it were advertised as being available at Target, even if the date were past the end of the agreement, it may detract from sales. Customers who would be browsing every Walmart looking for him, picking up other characters all the while, not to mention groceries, and other sales, would have a concrete date for when they could get him anywhere, and may put their search on hold. After all, it may be just a few short days at this point.

This may or may not be true, but as someone with a little experience with contracts (I'm a freelance writer), this doesn't seem entirely impossible. There are some pretty crazy provisions out there, and if I were Walmart, and I were entering into this agreement myself, I'd probably want a clause like this. Knowledge of when the figure will show up elsewhere may not take away a TON of profit, but it's not entirely innocent either.

Again, there's no knowing for sure unless the contract is leaked, it's just a theory of mine.

I personally believe Activision just aren't going to bother announcing them. After all, they never gave a true release date for Wave 2, did they?

Well, Skylanders FB is naturally the one who does the release dates, but their posts are quite subtle at that. We already have the rumored dates, don't we?

Rumors would be nice if everyone stopped changing them around. Didn't mean to sound rude; it's just getting annoying.

Actually, you have to take into account people like myself. Parents who got this game for their kids for christmas. Inital purchase for me was the Wednesday after black Friday. I didn't make another purchase of any figures until after christmas.

I just got my skylander strategy guide in the mail today YAY At leaset it's something to satisfy my skylander craving for a day or 2 LOL.
Have just scanned through it so far you guys were right not worth 20 bucks but i only paid 10 14.50 with shipping and from what i see so far i'm happy.

I've got two of them; I bought one for myself for the sake of collecting the artwork, and then it turned out my parents had bought me one for Christmas without me knowing.

I've read almost half now it's really cool nice colour definitly worth the 15 bucks. I like how it lists all the hats. Does anyone know which hat goes with which skylander? Or is are they random?

That MAY be a good thing. Bad for those who are legit, and not in the know, but good for those who aren't legit, who would know what to look for and scalp on Ebay.

If scalpers don't know precisely what to look for, that buys the non-scalping people more time to get the characters they need.

If there is a sequel to skylander's spyro's adventure the only things I would want are:
wi-fi battle and co-op play
once a month/year worldwide tournament
more toys
