does anyone know if there is going to be online play next year or so because online missions battles tournaments would be so cool it would make people buy more characters to face people and win

Who knows what they will do right?
I would like to see a small arcade game with a mini Campaign. (with Co-op)

I'm not sure if they can actually add more stages and stuff like that with the current disc and toys???
I am pretty sure all the content and content that is still not out yet is already on the disc.
We just unlock the content by having the toy!

I guess they could do some sort of down-load tho???

I personally doubt that there will be online play as this is not easy to do with Wii and they would be cutting out a vital demographic by ignoring/frustrating Wii users.

(Not forgetting that the game was developed for Wii and then ported, not the other way around).

we can just hope there will be a online play in skylander2...

Unfortunately, online is unlikely. Skylanders is ultimately targeted towards kids, and parents have traditionally been hesitant to allow their kids to play online.

Yes, it is or was target to kids but I think they will realize that the demographic they were initially aiming for turned out a lot different!

Hence my comment about not introducing it, otherwise they would alienate the Wii owning contingent.

Honestly, if there was online play I would be broke. I'd have to have at least one of every character for pvp. I think online play is the single best thing they could do to open up to a wider demographic.

As JAP28 pointed out, parents prefer not to expose their kids to online play.

Case in point: After 9 Lego adventure-style games, which cover XBox and PS as well as Wii, none of them have online play. Even Lego Universe turned out to be a failure.

Parents have complete control over whether or not their kids play online. Simply change the settings. Pretty sure you can do that on PS3, and I know you can do it on 360. If parents can't tell their kids "No, you can't play online.", then they probably shouldn't have had kids in the first place.

Don't know what they'll do, but I hope they do come out with an online feature for Battle mode. Battle mode is absolutely useless to me offline.
